Xiaomeng, who woke up naturally in the morning, finished washing up and came downstairs wearing a panda silk pajama set.

On this late autumn morning, there was finally a bit of coolness in the air, and I didn't have to turn on the air conditioner last night.

Aunt Zhang was waiting at the bottom of the stairs. "Good morning, Miss. Breakfast is ready. Shall we bring it up now? Where would you like to have breakfast today?"

Seeing that Xiaomeng was still considering, Aunt Zhang continued, "It's a bit windy outside right now. The weather forecast says the wind speed is level two and the temperature is 23 degrees Celsius. It's not really suitable to have breakfast outdoors. Why don't you sit at the small dining table in the outer room of the kitchen?"

Xiao Meng readily agreed, "Okay, then I'll eat at the small dining table."

Sister Bao and Aunt Zhang brought out several small steamers and a small soup bowl from the Chinese kitchen.

The small steamers contained shumai, xiaolongbao, and steamed pork ribs.

Chef Bao introduced, "This is steamed shumai with black truffle, this is xiaolongbao with mushroom and braised pork, and this is steamed spare ribs with soy sauce."

These are all breakfasts that Xiaomeng likes to eat. She mentioned them to Sister Bao yesterday, and Sister Bao made them for her.

Xiaomeng saw that the soup bowl was more than half full of some kind of soup. "Sister Bao, why are you drinking soup so early? What is this?"

Sister Bao smiled broadly on her round, chubby face, "I was taking inventory of the storage room yesterday and saw some good soup ingredients inside."

So this morning I made a fish maw and white fungus soup.

Now that it's autumn, my daughter has a bowl of fish maw in the morning to soothe her throat.

This soup contains fish maw, white fungus, lily bulbs, and goji berries. Try it; these are all ingredients suitable for girls.

"Miss, could you eat bird's nest? If so, eating fish maw once a week and bird's nest once a week would be just right. Girls should supplement their diet regularly."

Sister Bao is so thoughtful; she even specially stewed some nourishing food suitable for girls for her.

"Okay, Sister Bao, when we've used up most of these ingredients and you need to go shopping, make a list and I'll go with you. Which market do you usually go to?"

Also, could you recommend a place where I can buy bird's nest at a reasonable price?

"I've heard that a lot of bird's nest products are just a rip-off, and it's hard to buy the real thing." Xiaomeng thought, "I always hear people in TV dramas eating bird's nest all the time. It seems so expensive. Maybe buying bird's nest is a way to complete a task, so I might as well go and see for myself."

"Don't worry, Miss. I know a reputable supplier of swiftlets. When we're making purchases, I'll take you there to see for yourself, and you'll see," Sister Bao replied calmly.

Just then, Aunt Guan, the gardener, came over to discuss something with Xiaomeng. "Miss Lin, there's an empty planting box in the backyard. Is there anything you'd like to plant?"

The backyard? Aren't backyard plants supposed to be easy to care for? They all look so good. Xiaomeng asked curiously, "What were originally planted in those planting boxes?"

"We used to grow some edible spices, such as basil, perilla, and mint."

"Growing vegetables?"

"That's one way to put it. It's autumn now, and the seeds have all been harvested. We have to replant."

“Well, this season…” Xiaomeng had a sudden inspiration, “It’s autumn now, let’s plant some bok choy. We can eat it when we have hot pot in winter.”

Xiaomeng and Aunt Guan, the gardener, went to the backyard to look at the garden.

Sure enough, there was only one planting box with bare soil. The garden soil inside looked quite fertile.

Xiaomeng and Aunt Guan discussed and decided on the types of seedlings, then Xiaomeng changed her clothes and went with Aunt Guan to the nearby farmers' market to buy them.

The final items I bought included lettuce, tomatoes, celery, and some mildly spicy bell pepper sprouts.

After buying the seedlings, Xiaomeng thought of the things she had bought before. "Aunt Guan, don't go back yet. Master Bi will take us to the nursery of Qingshan Horticulture Company. I have a few bonsai trees being kept there."

"Aunt Guan, could you help me see which potted plants are suitable to bring back to the garden?"
