All-around teacher at the magic academy
Chapter 84 Warmth
Leon and Lian stood side by side in front of the orphanage gate, the sunlight filtering through the leaves and shining warmly on their faces.
The orphanage before me seems to have stood still; everything is still so familiar, and nothing has changed.
Leon felt that a lot had happened around him during this time. He had met many people and made many new friends. He felt that coming to Barton City and St. Peter's College was a very good choice.
Despite many unpleasant memories during this period, life is generally moving in a positive direction.
Leon looked at Lian standing beside him, and Lian was also looking at him. Their eyes met in the air, as if a silent conversation was flowing between them.
They smiled at each other, their smiles as warm and radiant as flowers blooming in spring, their faces glowing with happiness and contentment.
For Leon, this simple life is enough. He doesn't need too much extravagance or embellishment; he only needs this simple warmth and companionship.
“Let’s go.” Leon’s voice was gentle yet firm. He took Lian’s hand, feeling the warmth of her palm, and walked towards the interior of the orphanage.
Lean's heart raced slightly. She was a little nervous, and her palms were even slightly sweaty. But she didn't let go of Leon's hand; instead, she gripped it even tighter.
The two walked side by side into the orphanage, greeted by familiar laughter and chatter. The children were still playing happily, some chasing and frolicking, others chatting under the trees. Their laughter, like the most beautiful music, echoed in every corner of the orphanage, and Leon and Lian's mood brightened accordingly.
"It's Sister Lian!" A little girl noticed the two standing next to her, jumped up excitedly, and said in her childish voice.
Upon hearing the familiar address, Lian's face immediately lit up with a gentle smile. She ran over, bent down, and hugged the little girl, affectionately stroking her hair. Seeing this, the other children also dropped what they were doing and enthusiastically gathered around.
"Is this... Brother Leon?" a little boy asked timidly, his voice filled with uncertainty and surprise.
Leon was surprised; he hadn't expected that these children would remember his name after only one visit. A warm feeling welled up inside him, a feeling that was both unexpected and touching.
“Yes,” Leon replied with a smile, his eyes full of goodwill. He didn’t know the little boy’s name, but the boy did look somewhat familiar. He guessed that the boy might have played with everyone when he came here with Lian last time.
"Where is the director?" Leon asked, wanting to greet the director and learn about the orphanage's situation.
As soon as he finished speaking, a young figure walked out of the house. Leon looked at him with some curiosity. Who was this? He didn't remember seeing him before when he came here.
"Hello," Leon greeted the other person politely, despite some doubt in his heart. The other person smiled and nodded; his smile was gentle yet powerful, giving people a very comfortable feeling.
"The previous dean resigned for personal reasons, and I'm the new one taking over the position." The man spoke politely, and his explanation made Leon understand the situation.
"Oh oh oh, that's it."
Leon was surprised that the former dean would resign, as he seemed so passionate about his job the last time they met.
He looked at the man in front of him again, thinking that it was truly admirable that this new director was so young yet willing to come to the orphanage and take on this responsibility. Leon felt a growing respect for the new director.
“I won’t bother you any longer, Dean,” Leon said, turning away to join the children in their game.
The man watched Leon's retreating figure, a smile still on his face.
Time passed by unnoticed, and Leon experienced unprecedented joy while playing with the children.
Here, he doesn't need to think about competitions, worry about the details of teaching, or fret about making money.
Sometimes, emptying your mind and not thinking about those complicated matters can make your heart feel exceptionally relaxed and peaceful.
As the sun gradually set, the sky was tinged with a gentle orange-red hue, and Leon and Lian bid farewell to the children hand in hand.
He felt that coming here occasionally, temporarily escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life, was a kind of spiritual salvation for himself and his children. These moments were simple and precious, bringing him immense satisfaction.
The two strolled through the bustling streets at dusk, people moving about in a busy yet orderly fashion. Leon took a deep breath, savoring the ordinary atmosphere of life, and felt that this was the truest form of happiness.
“Let’s go to that restaurant. I remember they have a new dish that’s supposed to be pretty good,” Leon suggested to Lian, his eyes sparkling with anticipation for the food.
Lian nodded in agreement, her smile gentle. For her, where to eat wasn't the most important thing; the key was who to share the meal with.
"Okay, sure." Lian's reply was simple and sincere. She held Leon's hand tightly, feeling the tacit understanding and intimacy between them.
They walked together towards the restaurant, their steps light and cheerful. In this peaceful evening, they enjoyed each other's company, savoring these simple yet beautiful moments in life.
...
"Sir, they're gone." Inside the orphanage, in a dimly lit room, a figure dressed in black silently entered and spoke. His voice was low, as if afraid of disturbing the tranquility of the room.
"I understand. This person is not simple; I feel a bit of danger." The man sat behind a large desk, swirling a glass of red wine in his hand, the liquid inside shimmering with an eerie red light under the lamp. His eyes were deep, as if he were deep in thought.
"Should I follow him and find an opportunity to get rid of him?" the man in black asked cautiously, a glint of desire in his eyes as he tried to prove himself.
The man gave him a cold look, his tone laced with sarcasm and impatience: "Are you really stupid or just plain dumb? I already think someone is dangerous, and you want to get rid of them?"
The man in black was startled and quickly knelt down to apologize. He had only wanted to show off in front of the man, but he hadn't expected to displease his master instead.
Just then, another man in black rushed in from outside, his voice urgent: "Sir, the Duke's dog is here."
This time, he spoke clearly and directly. He still vividly remembered being scolded for speaking unclearly last time, and he couldn't make the same mistake again.
Looking at his colleague kneeling beside him, he couldn't help but feel smug, thinking to himself, "Now you know how I felt before, right?"
