A luxurious motorcade was slowly making its way along the road to Patton.

The convoy consisted of several gleaming black cars, each adorned with gold accents that shimmered in the sunlight.

For ordinary people in this country, such cars are undoubtedly a rarity; most of them have only ever seen such luxury in newspapers or from afar outside the estates of the wealthy.

Aurora sat in a car in the convoy, looking curiously at the world outside through the window. Then she turned to her brother Raphael, who was sitting next to her with his eyes closed, and asked in confusion, "Brother, why aren't we taking the train? The train would be much faster."

Raphael opened his eyes, smiled at his sister, and said with a hint of seriousness in his eyes: "Hehe, the train is fast, but it's also quite dangerous."

“Huh? But trains rarely have accidents, do they?” Aurora frowned. She knew that trains were one of the most reliable means of transportation in the country, and she had almost never heard of any major accidents.

“Hehe, the train is indeed safe, but in case of an accident, all our actions on the train will be restricted.” Raphael gently patted his sister’s hand, trying to soothe her doubts. “But if we are in our own car, at least we can react in time and protect ourselves.”

“Oh, oh, oh,” Aurora replied, her gaze passing through the car window and landing on the rows of neatly arranged knights.

They were clad in armor, which gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight, making them appear majestic and dignified. Aurora felt that her brother was worrying unnecessarily; looking across the entire kingdom, there was no one foolish enough to cause trouble.

Raphael could guess what his sister was thinking just by looking at her expression. He was well aware of the uncertainties of this world, but he didn't intend to explain too much at the moment. He simply smiled, his eyes filled with a hint of doting affection and deep meaning.

"Huh? Why did it stop?" Aurora suddenly felt the car slowly slow down and then come to a complete stop. A hint of doubt flashed through her mind, and her brows furrowed slightly.

"Have we arrived?" Aurora turned her head and looked at Raphael, asking curiously.

“I don’t think so,” Raphael replied calmly.

Aurora's curiosity was piqued, and she couldn't resist opening the car door to see what was happening. But just as she was about to do so, Raphael gently pressed her hand, signaling her to wait a moment.

His words had barely left his lips when a soft knock broke the silence inside the car. Raphael slowly lowered the window, revealing a crack just enough for him to see what was happening outside. He saw Lucas, the vice-captain of the Knights, whose face held a serious expression.

"What's wrong?" Raphael asked calmly.

“Someone requests an audience with Your Highness,” Lucas replied respectfully, bowing his head. His voice, though deep, was remarkably clear in the quiet of the carriage.

"Oh? Who is it?" Raphael maintained a calm demeanor, even though he already had a guess.

“Chloe.” Lucas’s words confirmed Raphael’s guess.

“It’s inconvenient. Tell them to check after the match.” Raphael’s words were completely unwavering, as if the name was unimportant to him.

"Yes." Lucas responded and turned to relay Raphael's orders.

Raphael slowly closed the car window, his movements elegant and composed, as if he were performing an insignificant daily task.

His gaze never wandered outside, as if everything happening outside the car was irrelevant to him and not worth a second glance.

"Is Emma here?" Aurora broke the silence in the car, her voice filled with anticipation, clearly missing her friend.

"They should be here by now," Raphael replied somewhat vaguely.

“I want to go down with Emma,” Aurora said, her tone carrying a hint of a plea. However, she didn’t directly invite Emma to join their caravan. After all, with her brother present, she might have more freedom if she were alone.

“Now is not the right time.” Raphael refused gently but firmly, knowing that in this setting, Aurora’s behavior needed to be consistent with their status and image.

"Oh," Aurora responded, not insisting further. She understood that this was indeed not the right occasion for her to get out of the car and meet with her friends.

A brief silence fell over the car again; neither of them spoke. Aurora's gaze remained fixed on the scenery outside the window, her eyes revealing her longing for Emma and her anticipation for the upcoming match.

Raphael, on the other hand, kept his eyes closed, as if deep in thought or simply enjoying the tranquility inside the car.

...

"Your Grace, you were right, he did not see us," the butler reported in a low voice, his tone tinged with helplessness, clearly unsurprised by the outcome.

“That’s normal,” Duke Chloe replied, his voice calm and firm, as if he had expected this all along.

"Since we know we won't see you, why did we come, Dad?" Emma asked, puzzled, her brow furrowing slightly, confused by this futile act.

“Whether he sees us or not is not important; what matters is whether we come.” Duke Chloe turned to his daughter, his tone carrying a hint of instruction. “It’s a gesture, a sign of respect. Even knowing the outcome, we must fulfill our responsibilities and obligations.”

"Oh," Emma responded. Although she still didn't quite understand the deeper meaning behind her father's words, she knew there must be a reason for his actions. She sighed softly and decided not to press the matter further.

“But no other nobles came. Why are we the only ones?” Emma frowned, puzzled and confused as to why her family was the only exception.

“The other nobles are not qualified; they can only wait at the finish line,” Duke Chloe explained gently. He was always patient with his daughter and willing to guide her slowly to understand the complex rules among the nobility.

"Then why didn't Duke Adams come either?" Emma pressed on, her curiosity making it impossible for her to let the question go.

“Duke Adams, perhaps he doesn’t like this kind of occasion, or perhaps he has other considerations.” Duke Chloe smiled, a knowing smile that seemed to reveal a deep understanding of Duke Adams’ personality.

The butler stood aside, remaining silent. He knew that at such a moment, his duty was not to offer any opinions, but simply to wait quietly for orders.

"Let's go, let's go back." Duke Chloe's gaze followed the receding caravan, his tone revealing a hint of relief, as if he had already accomplished his goal for the day.

"Mmm." Emma nodded gently. Although she still had questions, she chose to trust her father and didn't press him further.

“Yes.” The butler nodded in response and then began to arrange the return journey. He knew that every decision Duke Chloe made had its underlying meaning, and his task was to ensure that these decisions were carried out smoothly.
