All-around teacher at the magic academy
Chapter 30 Envelope
In a quiet courtyard on the outskirts of Barton, a girl is quietly lying on the table in her room, enjoying the sunlight streaming in through the window.
The sunlight gently caressed the girl's fair skin, making her already slightly sickly complexion even paler, almost transparent.
On the dining table in the living room, carefully prepared dishes were laid out. Although the dishes were not lavish, each one revealed the cook's care and dedication, and the heartwarming sincerity was evident.
Ilya lay on the table, her gaze falling on the carnations on the windowsill. Her thoughts drifted back to the scene of Leon's first visit, and a faint blush involuntarily crept onto her cheeks.
However, as Ilja watched the once vibrant carnations gradually lose their vitality, a subtle sadness welled up in her heart.
She had taken the best care of the flowers, but in the end, she couldn't stop the passage of time. Watching them wither away little by little, her mood became depressed.
Ever since Leon's last visit, Ilya's mind had often conjured up his handsome and courteous image. Perhaps because she rarely encountered someone like Leon, he was full of mystery and attraction to her.
Ilya learned from his brother Philip that Leon was a teacher at St. Peter's Academy. Although he had never seen St. Peter's Academy, he had heard his brother mention it; it was a very prestigious magic academy, renowned as the best school in Barton City.
She hadn't expected that Leon, at such a young age, would already be a teacher at such a prestigious magic academy, which made her even more respectful of him.
Ilya was very curious about what a magic academy was like. She had never attended one, but her brother had told her that life at the academy was very enjoyable and that one could make many friends there. Although Philip had also never attended school, Ilya still longed for the academy he described.
However, her physical condition prevented her from being outdoors for extended periods. Even slight activity caused her excruciating pain throughout her body, leaving her unusually weak. She didn't know why she had contracted this strange illness, as she had been able to move freely as a child without experiencing such distress.
However, remembering Philip's promise to send her to the magic academy once she recovered, Ilya was happy, but she would rather go to the academy with Philip.
Elijah vividly remembers the anxiety her brother Philip felt five years ago when her health first began to deteriorate.
At that moment, Philip hurriedly carried her to the hospital. Although she was already somewhat delirious, she still clearly remembered that at that moment, tears welled up in Philip's eyes.
She always felt she had let Philip down because he had given so much for her, and she had become a burden to him.
Watching Philip busy at work every day, Elijah felt a pang of guilt. All she could do was try her best to manage the household chores, keep the house clean and tidy, and cook the meals more delicious so that Philip would eat more.
At that moment, Ilya's gaze fell upon a letter on the table, and she was filled with curiosity. This was the first time in all these years that she had seen someone write a letter to Philip.
Although she was curious about what was written in the letter, she knew it was wrong to open it without permission, and she didn't want to upset Philip.
"Why aren't they back yet? It's already 12 o'clock. They should be eating by now." Ilya walked to the dining table and looked at the food, which had grown a little cold. She hesitated whether to reheat it.
"I'm back, Ilya. Sorry I was a little late today." Philip's voice rang out at the gate of the courtyard, and before he even stepped inside, his voice had already drifted into the house.
"It's alright, the food's a little cold, I'll reheat it," Ilya replied, her earlier tension vanishing.
"Put it down, I'll heat it up." Philip rushed over, took the plate from Ilya's hands, and headed towards the kitchen.
"Oh, by the way, a stranger came and gave you a letter today," Ilya said, turning to retrieve the letter from his room.
"Oh? I don't remember having any friends who wrote to me?" Philip was also puzzled. He put the plate he was carrying into the kitchen, came out, took the letter from Ilya, and opened it to read.
"What does it say?" Ilya asked curiously.
"It's nothing, it just tells me to go somewhere, someone wants to see me." Philip put the letter back in his pocket.
"Alright, sit down and get ready to eat. I'll go heat up the food."
"Ah."
...
Inside a luxurious villa in Barton, a middle-aged man stood with his back to the study door. On the wall in front of him hung a painting, and even though it was just a simple line drawing, its high price was evident.
Sensing the movement behind him, the man didn't turn around, but instead asked directly, "The letter has been sent out?"
His voice exuded an undeniable authority, and his tone was indifferent.
The butler replied respectfully, "It has been sent out, Your Highness." He hesitated for a moment, then asked again, "Will he come?"
"Hmm?" The middle-aged man's tone revealed displeasure upon hearing the butler's question.
The butler immediately realized his slip of the tongue, and his already bent back bent even more. "It was I who misspoke."
"Go down." The middle-aged man waved his hand, his tone revealing impatience.
"Yes." The butler bowed and left.
Sensing the butler leave, the man muttered to himself, his eyes filled with disdain: "Not coming? He has no reason to refuse the conditions I set."
...
Leon walked back to the academy in a cheerful mood, his steps light and free. He was thinking about the 10 pounds of prize money that was about to be in his hands, and a satisfied smile appeared on his lips.
"How should I spend this money?" he muttered to himself, his gaze falling on his slightly worn clothes. He decided to go to a clothing store in a couple of days to buy some new clothes. Then he could throw away these old clothes and put on new attire.
Lost in thought, Leon had unknowingly approached the academy, his gaze drawn to a newly opened dessert shop nearby.
He had never been willing to buy himself desserts before, but now that he had this bonus, he decided to treat himself. He planned to buy one of every kind of dessert in the shop, no, preferably two of each kind, one of which he could give to Teacher Lian so that Teacher Lian could also try it.
With this thought in mind, Leon walked towards the dessert shop, his steps filled with anticipation, already planning how to enjoy this rare and wonderful time.
