Chapter 230 Horse Racing (2)
This time, Leon only bet 5 rubles, and not many people bet on horse number 4, so Leon's odds were quite high, with a profit of about 8 times.
In other words, he won 40 rubles in this one instance alone. Including his initial investment, he now has a total of 50 rubles.
This result surprised and excited Leon, who couldn't help but marvel at how quickly horse racing could make money.
Leon began to calculate in his mind that if he could win again next time, he could bet all 50 rubles and then turn it into 400 rubles.
With such substantial profits, it's no wonder so many people choose to participate in this kind of gambling.
Leon walked happily to the exchange window and withdrew the money he had earned.
When he received that stack of banknotes, he was incredulous; it felt like a dream.
He counted the money several times to make sure he wasn't mistaken. It was a considerable sum for him, enough to live comfortably for quite some time.
Preparations for the next race had begun, the horses had been changed, and Leon and Eden stood aside, listening to the discussions.
The number 4 horse wasn't among them. There's another race tomorrow with the number 4 horse, so Leon doesn't plan to place any more bets.
Aiden watched him take out the money, a hint of envy flashing in his eyes, and he couldn't help but swallow hard. His mind began to race, and an impulse surged within him.
"Um, could I borrow some?" Aiden asked somewhat shyly, his voice tinged with anticipation.
Leon thought for a moment, then took out 20 rubles from his money and lent them to Aiden.
Although he made money this time, he felt that such good luck wouldn't last long, and he decided not to make any more moves next time.
Since Aiden wants to keep trying, let him go. Leon wants to observe from the sidelines and see how Aiden manages to lose all the money.
Leon did not believe that Aiden could earn back everything he had lost with those 20 rubles; it was practically impossible.
If it were really that easy, he would have earned it back long ago, and things wouldn't be like this now.
However, Aiden did not immediately use the money to gamble on horse racing; instead, he showed unexpected patience.
He waited until the next day, until the race involving horse number 4 began.
"Bet on number 4, you're guaranteed to win." In a corner of the racecourse, someone whispered excitedly, their voice filled with confidence and excitement.
"Look at this horse, it may be small and thin, but it's just what fools others. You know, yesterday one of my brothers bet on number 4, saying he had inside information, and he actually won." Another person chimed in, his eyes gleaming with anticipation for the upcoming victory.
"Then I'll give it a try." Some people were moved by these words and decided to place a bet.
Just as Aiden walked to the betting window, ready to place his bet, he heard people whispering amongst themselves. These words acted like an invisible force, further solidifying Aiden's decision.
Aiden immediately bet all 20 rubles he had on number 4.
In his view, only going all in is a wise move; you either make a fortune or lose everything.
He believes that yesterday's victory of horse number 4 was not accidental, but rather based on solid certainty.
However, this time, significantly more people were betting on number 4. Yesterday's victory had turned this previously unremarkable horse into the center of attention.
Leon stood aside without making a move; his intuition told him that Number 4 might be in trouble this time.
Perhaps it was a strategy of the Aries Association, or perhaps it was some other inside information he didn't know, but he decided to remain on the sidelines and wait and see.
However, reality slapped Leon in the face.
After the race began, horse number 4 displayed amazing speed and stamina, winning the race once again. Cheers and gasps of amazement filled the arena, and horse number 4 became the undisputed focus of attention.
Aiden jumped up excitedly, his face beaming with the joy of victory. He had not only won back the money he borrowed from Leon, but also made an extra profit.
He bet a total of 20 rubles this time, and although the odds weren't as high as yesterday, they were still 6 to 1. Such odds are quite considerable in horse racing.
In other words, Aiden earned 120 rubles in this one transaction alone. His pockets instantly bulged, and his smile became even brighter.
"How about that? You lost a whopping 120 rubles this time. It would have been so much better if you had placed a bet with me," Aiden said smugly, waving the rubles in his hand as if to show Leon his victory.
“It’s just that we didn’t make any money, how can you say we lost a lot?” Leon replied calmly, without much disappointment on his face.
“If you don’t take what’s offered for free, then you’re losing out big time,” Aiden continued to tease, believing that Leon had missed a golden opportunity.
“You’ve made some money too, do you want to return these 20 rubles to me first?” Leon asked, his eyes fixed on Aiden.
“No, no, no, I’ll continue betting on number 4. The more capital I have, the more I’ll win.” Aiden shook his head, rejecting Leon’s suggestion.
His eyes sparkled with anticipation for the future; he was unwilling to stop there.
"Are you sure number 4 will keep winning?" Leon frowned, worried about Aiden's blind confidence.
“You don’t understand. How could the owner of the racetrack let himself lose? I’m just getting a small share of the profits,” Aiden said confidently, believing he had figured out the racetrack’s rules.
Next, the race for horse number 4 has been scheduled for tomorrow.
On the third day, the atmosphere at the racetrack became lively again.
Leon and Aiden once again arrived in this place full of opportunities and challenges.
Without hesitation, Aiden bet all his money on horse number 4. His eyes were filled with anticipation, as if he could already see the dawn of victory.
"Let's go, let's go! We didn't bet the first two times, we can't miss this time!" Someone in the crowd urged their companions eagerly, their faces filled with excitement and anticipation.
"Let's go, let's go!" The others echoed, heading towards the betting window.
"I have inside information. Horse number 4 has been bewitched by the Aries Society. No wonder it won the first two times," a deep voice said, seemingly very confident in the source of the information.
"I told you, I'd heard the rumors before, but you didn't believe me," another person chimed in, sounding somewhat smug.
As Leon listened to more and more people talking about this, his brows furrowed.
He began to wonder if all of this was too much of a coincidence, and a sense of unease welled up inside him.
Then, he inadvertently spotted the person they had met the day before yesterday in the crowd. That person seemed to be constantly spreading news about horse number 4.
Leon's intuition told him that this person's behavior was unusual, so he decided to secretly follow him.
