The next day

Leon and Aldo returned once again to the place where they had met the day before.

Leon couldn't stop thinking about the giant octopus after learning that it might be worth some money.

Although the price of a giant octopus may not be comparable to that of a small octopus commonly found in the market, its enormous size undoubtedly makes up for it.

In Leon's view, the value of this octopus was far beyond that of ordinary small octopuses.

However, the problem is that the octopus is so huge that it would be an almost impossible task for Leon and Aldo to bring it back by themselves alone.

Although Leon was proficient in wind elemental magic and could theoretically use wind power to lift the octopus, he had his own concerns deep down.

He didn't want to reveal his magical abilities in this small village.

Things get complicated once your abilities become known to others.

It was enough that Aldo and Asha knew about it; if more people knew his secret, he might face a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Perhaps some people would beg him to teach them magic, which, in Leon's view, would undoubtedly disrupt his peaceful life.

Others, however, might keep their distance from him out of fear or apprehension of his power. Neither scenario is what Leon wants to see.

Therefore, as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the window onto the simple wooden bed, Aldo, upon regaining consciousness, immediately discussed a bold plan with Leon.

He suggested gathering the entire village to help transport the giant octopus, since even the largest octopus would seem insignificant compared to the size of the entire village.

Of course, they won't ask for everyone's help for nothing. They will break down the octopus later and give a portion to everyone, thus preventing some people from becoming envious.

...

In the afternoon, after a simple lunch, Leon, Asha, and Aldo went straight out.

They rode in a carriage that Aldo had specially rented, heading towards the city center.

Inside the carriage were a small portion of the spoils they had taken from the octopus. Although they had taken most of it, it was enough for them to exchange for some useful supplies or money.

Asha sat in the carriage, excitedly watching the scenery along the way.

She kept describing what new and exciting things might be available at the market, her voice filled with anticipation and excitement.

Seeing how happy she was, Leon was also in a good mood; he could tell that the girl didn't go out often.

According to Aldo, the town of Klind, which they were about to visit, was the most prosperous and luxurious city in the area.

Normally, Aldo would not choose to go to Klind to sell his seafood.

One reason is the distance, and the other is that he has already established stable sales channels in nearby towns.

But this time the situation is different. The goods they have are extraordinary. A giant octopus can undoubtedly fetch a higher price in such a bustling town.

Aldo recalled that he had visited Klind with his parents when he was a child, but his memory of that time was somewhat hazy; he only remembered the city's prosperity and the bustling crowds.

As an adult, he only returned to the city a year ago by chance, but he didn't stay long.

Normally, unless there are special circumstances, he would not easily go to Klind.

After all, the journey from their village to Klind was long, taking nearly two hours even by carriage.

When his parents were mentioned, Aldo's voice became low, and a trace of unspeakable sadness flashed in his eyes.

His parents were also fishermen. One day, while fishing at sea as usual, they were caught in a storm and never returned. He was only twelve years old at the time, and Asha was only six.

“The villagers are very kind. They gave us food, clothes, and helped us through the most difficult time.”

Aldo recalled that his tone was full of gratitude.

After that, he began to learn fishing skills from the fishermen in the village and gradually learned how to survive in this sea area.

Asha also fell silent when Aldo talked about his parents.

Her memories of her parents were very vague; a six-year-old's mind was not yet capable of bearing too much sadness and memories. She could only piece together a blurry image of her parents from Aldo's scattered narration.

Leon sat there quietly, listening to Aldo's narration, and a wave of emotion stirred within him.

Looking at the two siblings who were bound together by fate, he felt a surge of sympathy and respect.

Everyone has their own story, and everyone harbors untold sorrows in their hearts.

"Oh dear, look at me, I've made everyone feel heavy-hearted again without even realizing it."

Aldo's laughter broke the silence in the car. He patted his head, trying to dispel the heavy atmosphere of the conversation with humor.

Changing the subject, Aldo looked at Leon curiously and asked, "By the way, Adam, I haven't asked you yet, where were you from before?"

Asha also raised her head, casting a curious glance at Leon, awaiting his answer.

Leon didn't know how to tell them whether he was from Nova, or from Barton, or, to be precise, from another world.

"I lived in Nova for a while before, which is where I grew up. After that, I went to work in Patton, which is also a bustling metropolis. But for some... other reasons, I had to leave, and eventually ran into trouble at sea, which is how I ended up here."

Leon deliberately omitted many details in his words. He did not mention that he was actually from another world, nor did he mention that he was being hunted by the Knights.

Those memories were both painful and a secret to him. He didn't want to make Aldo and Asha uncomfortable because of his past.

Asha's curiosity was piqued by Leon's story, and she couldn't wait to ask about the details of his life in Barton.

Her eyes sparkled with curiosity and longing for the unknown world. For a girl who had never left her small village, life in the big city was full of mystery and allure.

Leon patiently answered Asha's questions, describing the bustling streets of Barton, where there was a wide variety of delicious food, such as fragrant kebabs, sweet pastries, and fresh fruit.

He also described the city's entertainment activities, such as circus performances, street acrobatics, and theatrical plays.

He wanted to try to broaden Asha's knowledge and help her learn more so that she wouldn't be completely clueless when she went to the academy.

The carriage entered the town of Klind amidst pleasant conversation.

Asha stared almost intently at the world outside. When she saw the bustling city of Klind, she couldn't help but shout with excitement.

"Wow! Do you think this place is as bustling as Barton City, where you used to live, Adam?" Asha asked excitedly, her voice full of anticipation.

Leon smiled as he looked at Asha, a warm feeling welling up inside him.

"more or less."
