All-around teacher at the magic academy

Chapter 208 Uninvited Guest

Rhine was lying in bed resting with his eyes tightly closed, his mind completely blank, and he could fall asleep at any moment.

Just as he was about to fall asleep, suddenly, his eyes snapped open, a sharp glint flashing in them.

Rhine frowned, as if trying to capture that fleeting feeling. He sat up in bed, his back straight, his ears perked up, trying to catch that faint signal again.

His heart raced, and the magical power within him began to surge, preparing him for any eventuality.

His intuition told him that this magical fluctuation was extraordinary; it was different from the fluctuations he usually experienced when practicing magic, being more subtle and containing some unknown power.

He dared not be careless, quickly tidied up the clothes by the bed, and put on clothes that were easy to move in. With light but firm steps, he walked towards the living room.

Rhine's fingers rested lightly on the doorknob, he took a deep breath, and then slowly pushed open the door to the room.

His gaze, sharp as an arrow, shot directly towards the location where he had sensed the magical fluctuations. The living room was dimly lit, but enough for Rhine to clearly see the figure sitting on the sofa.

On the sofa, a middle-aged man sat quietly, wearing a deep red robe embroidered with strange runes that seemed to glow faintly.

The man's face was somewhat blurry in the dim light, but his eyes were unusually bright. He was looking at Rhine with a half-smile, as if everything was within his expectations.

The moment Rhine saw the man, he felt a chill run down his spine, and the hairs on his body stood on end involuntarily.

His body tensed instinctively, ready to respond to any potential danger. However, he forced himself to remain calm and refrained from making any rash moves, knowing that any sudden action could trigger an attack.

Rhine's intuition told him that this man in red was no ordinary person; his aura was powerful and oppressive, making him someone not to be underestimated.

He didn't know the other person's intentions, nor was he sure if he was friend or foe, but his intuition told him that this person was definitely not a good person.

"Are you Reinhardt?" Mond's voice broke the silence, his tone calm yet exuding an undeniable authority.

He slowly stood up, looked directly at Rhine standing in the doorway, and continued, "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Mond, and I am Hughes's teacher."

“Mond? Hughes?” Rein’s mind raced with the information, and a look of sudden realization flashed in his eyes.

He hesitated for only a moment, then immediately thought of the cardinal's teacher! Everything seemed to begin to make sense.

No wonder, no wonder he felt a strange sense of familiarity when he first saw the middle-aged man's red clothes.

The style, color, and even the runes embroidered on the clothes bore a striking resemblance to those worn by Cardinal Hughes. This discovery made Rhine's heart race.

After receiving the answer, he became even more nervous. Since the other party had found this place, it meant that they might already have some information, or at least some guesses.

A disturbing thought flashed through Rhine's mind: he wondered if Mond had already convinced him that he was the murderer of Hughes.

“I am Rein Hart,” Rein said, trying to make his voice sound calm, though his heart was churning with turmoil.

"May I ask what brings you here so late?" he asked politely and cautiously, while secretly adjusting his breathing and trying to calm himself down, so as not to show any fear on the surface.

“If that’s the case, then things will be easier,” Mond’s voice carried a hint of coldness. “My student Hughes is dead, but Tommy, who knew the truth, has escaped. However, I heard that the people at your All-Knowing Agency are friends with Tommy, so I came to ask.”

Mond's gaze was like a sharp blade, seemingly trying to dissect Rhine's heart and find the truth.

Upon hearing this, Rhine's heart tightened. The other party had only come to inquire and hadn't confirmed anything yet, but this was enough to make him uneasy.

He couldn't help but worry about Koby and Lisse. Had they also been questioned by Mondstadt? Were they safe now?

“I don’t know anything else about Tommy,” Line tried to keep his voice calm. “He didn’t say anything when he left.” Line’s answer was concise and to the point; he didn’t want to dwell on the matter.

"Is that so? It seems we won't get any results." Mond seemed somewhat disappointed after hearing Rhine's answer. He sighed and turned to leave.

As Rhine watched Mond's retreating figure, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that this sudden confrontation had come to an end.

However, after only a moment, his eyes widened instantly.

Suddenly, the surrounding walls shone brightly, and complex magic arrays, like ancient runes that had been activated, appeared one by one.

These magic circles emanated mysterious and powerful energy fluctuations; they intertwined to form a powerful summoning barrier.

Immediately afterwards, several enormous summoned beasts slowly emerged from these magic arrays.

The spatial rift beasts have indistinct body outlines, as if they are woven from the purest light and the deepest shadows, constantly flowing and changing, giving people a feeling that is both illusory and real.

Their existence seems to transcend the boundaries of space, as if they were summoned here from another dimension.

The head is not obvious, but upon closer inspection, a head-like structure made of light can be found, with one or more pairs of glowing eyes.

These eyes have no pupils; instead, they rotate like miniature galaxies, gleaming with a wise and mysterious light, as if they could see through everything.

Their limbs are slender and flexible, made of light bands, some of which extend out like soft tentacles, while others resemble light wings, ready to take flight at any moment.

The appearance of these Rift Beasts is undoubtedly a severe challenge to Rhine.

Without a second thought, Rhine immediately unleashed all his magical power, his eyes gleaming with unwavering determination to eliminate the summoned creatures before they could all appear.

He stretched out his palm, and a surge of cold air emanated from it, instantly lowering the temperature of the entire room to freezing point. The spatial rift beasts, whose bodies were already halfway out, were trapped in the magic circle and unable to emerge further.

Immediately afterward, Rhine transformed his magic, his body becoming a powerful energy source. White lightning bolts, like angry dragons, emanated from his body, accompanied by deafening explosions, and furiously attacked the frozen spatial rift beasts.
