All-around teacher at the magic academy

Chapter 195 The situation is out of control

Lord Hills arrived at the Workers' Guild, accompanied by a group of guards.

Looking at the large number of workers gathered below, his expression turned somewhat grim.

The workers, who had been talking, gradually quieted down when they saw Earl Hills walk in, wanting to see what the earl was going to do.

Earl Hills stepped forward and addressed the workers below, asking, "Why are you all gathered here instead of going to work?"

"We want fewer working hours, we want a raise!" the workers said.

“A raise isn’t something you can just do arbitrarily; it requires you to put in a certain amount of work,” Earl Hills declared loudly.

However, his words had barely left his lips when they aroused the dissatisfaction of the workers below the stage. One of the more courageous representatives raised his hand and said loudly, "Your Excellency, we are very pleased that you are here, because it means that you want to solve the problem."

Upon hearing the worker raise his hand to speak, the guards beside Earl Hills tried to stop him, but were shooed away by him.

He then waved his hand, signaling the representative to continue.

"But do you know how many hours we work every day? 10 hours!"

"Do you know how much our ordinary workers earn? Only 30 rubles a month. (1 pound = 100 rubles = penny)"

"Also, do you know how much a loaf of bread costs outside these days? 10 pence."

“A typical family eats at least eight loaves of bread a day, which is worth 80 pence, not including other expenses. If other expenses are included, a family of three would spend at least 150 pence a day.”

"However, 30 rubles is only enough for 20 days. We can't even support our families, so how can we continue working?"

After the representative finished speaking, the workers in the audience echoed, "That's right!"

"It's hard enough to just survive, yet we're expected to work."

"This is just for simple meals; if you add accommodation, transportation, and shopping..."

"You're still thinking about shopping? Still thinking about buying a house?"

.......

Earl Hills looked at the workers below the stage, who were talking amongst themselves, and his expression turned rather unpleasant.

He hadn't known what they were saying before; he didn't know that these workers couldn't even solve their most basic problem of food and clothing.

It's unfair to them that they get to eat lavish meals every day.

“I am aware of everyone’s difficulties. Here’s what we’ll do: you all go to work first. It’s not good for you all to gather here. I’ll talk to the others later and see if we can shorten your working hours and increase your pay,” Earl Hills said.

Hearing this, the workers started discussing it again. If he promised to solve the problem, they would go back to work.

However, it seemed that some people didn't want this to happen. Suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted, "Don't be fooled by him! He says he'll raise wages, and then he does? We have to demand a raise right now. Who knows what will happen when we get back?"

Upon hearing this, Earl Hills frowned deeply; things seemed to have taken an unexpected turn.

The workers were also influenced by this statement and began clamoring for a price increase immediately.

However, the situation changed more than that. After he said that, many people dressed as workers rushed to the front of the stage.

As they charged, they shouted, "Hold the Earl hostage! We won't let him leave until he gets a raise today!"

On the stage, Earl Hills realized that the situation was gradually getting out of control, and his guards quickly gathered him together.

The workers below the stage panicked when they saw this.

Suddenly, some people rushed onto the stage and clashed with the Earl's guards. In an attempt to protect the Earl, the guards accidentally killed one of them.

"They killed people! They didn't want to give us a raise; they wanted to wipe us all out!"

After these words, the already panicked crowd became even more panicked, and many began to rush towards the Earl.

"Everyone, unite! Keep the Earl under control, or none of us will survive!"

Thus, repeated influences and conflicts made the situation completely out of control.

The guards and workers got into a brawl, and the scene became chaotic for a time.

Just then, a wind blade flew out from the crowd, cutting through the surrounding workers and guards.

They flew towards the count, but were stopped by a guard just before reaching him.

"My lord, we'll cover your retreat!" one of the guards said.

Earl Hills nodded; this was the only option for now.

Finally, under the cover of a group of guards, Earl Hills was carried away from the scene by two guards.

Arthur looked at the chaotic scene in disbelief. How did it turn out like this?

Didn't everyone agree beforehand that we were only going to pressure those in power? But now that someone has died, things might get out of hand.

Rhine stood beside Arthur, watching the chaotic scene. It was obvious that someone had deliberately instigated it.

They exploited the workers' psychology, manipulated them, and created this chaos.

“Let’s leave first. This is not a place to stay for long. The law enforcement will probably be here soon,” Rhine said to Arthur in a low voice.

Arthur nodded. It was better to leave first; one wrong move and you could get into trouble in this situation.

However, just as Rhine was about to leave, he caught a glimpse of two familiar figures out of the corner of his eye.

Those are Tommy and Kirby. Why are those two here?

Rhine was very puzzled. This had nothing to do with them, did it?

Seeing his younger brother stop in his tracks, Arthur asked in a low voice, "What's wrong, Rhine?"

"Um, you go back first, I think I saw someone I know." After saying that, Rhine walked away in the direction Tommy and Coby had left without looking back.

........

Meanwhile, Tommy said to Kirby beside him, "The scene is a bit chaotic. You go back first. The rest is beyond our ability to handle."

"how about you?"

"I'm going to follow the Earl."

"No, it's too dangerous."

“Don’t worry, I won’t be found out. Go back and find Rhine, and ask him to help you. He’s stronger,” Tommy said to Koby.

Koby thought about it and realized that it was indeed more reliable to go to Rhine. He himself had only been learning magic for a short time and could not be of any help.

"Then be careful."

"Do not worry."

Watching Coby leave, Tommy hardened his gaze and walked in the direction the Earl had gone.
