Chapter 166 Koby's Visit

Rhine pushed open the door and walked into the living room.

When he looked up and his gaze inadvertently swept towards the figure at the door, his body involuntarily paused for a moment, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

Good grief, they've come right up to my doorstep.

"Why are you here?" Rein's tone was clearly displeased, his brows furrowed slightly, obviously surprised by Koby's appearance.

Koby stood at the door, dressed as a traveler. The moment he saw Rhine, his face immediately lit up with a warm smile, as if he were reuniting with an old friend.

"Of course I'm here to play with you!" Koby's voice was playful, seemingly oblivious to Rein's displeasure.

"Fuck you, do you think I don't know what you're thinking?" Rein cursed inwardly. He knew perfectly well that Koby simply wanted him to teach him magic.

He quickly went out of the living room and closed the door to prevent Arthur from overhearing their conversation.

Rhine frowned slightly, gripping Koby's arm tightly and pulling him aside, away from the doorway.

Their figures appeared somewhat blurry in the dimly lit corridor, but Rhine's eyes were sharp as knives, staring directly at Koby.

"How did you know where I live?" Rhine lowered his voice, a hint of wariness barely perceptible in his tone.

Koby seemed oblivious to Rein's displeasure. He chuckled and replied with a hint of smugness, "When you came back last night, I secretly followed you all the way home."

His tone was relaxed, as if he were merely recounting a trivial matter.

Upon hearing Koby's words, Rein's eyes widened instantly, and a storm raged within him.

This guy has been following me all the way, and I didn't even notice? Was I too careless, or was Koby just too good at hiding?

This question flashed through Rein's mind, forcing him to reassess Koby's strength.

"How did you follow me? Why didn't I notice?" Rhine's tone carried a hint of accusation.

Koby shrugged, seemingly puzzled by Rein's surprise. "I was watching you from a distance, just a long way off," he said, seemingly quite proud of his tracking skills.

"Alright, alright." Rhine shook his head helplessly. Although he was still a little confused, he knew that he couldn't change what had already happened.

He didn't know how far behind Koby was, and could only attribute it all to his own slow perception.

It seems I need to work on this aspect more in the future. Perhaps I can look for some magic or training methods to enhance my perception.

However, he also knew that this kind of perception was quite mysterious and not so easy to improve. It seemed that he could only pay more attention in the future. He couldn't be unaware that he was being followed by some criminal or enemy.

With this thought in mind, a determination welled up in Rhine's heart, and he felt that he had to strengthen his abilities in this area.

He didn't want to be followed when he was carrying out secret missions or doing things that required concealing his whereabouts. Such a mistake could have serious consequences, even endangering his life.

"Why are you here so early? Didn't you sleep last night? Where do you live?"

Rhine frowned and asked all his questions in one breath, his questions coming at Koby like a machine gun.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute, there are quite a few questions, I'll answer them one by one."

Koby quickly raised his hand to stop Rhine's questioning, took a deep breath, and began to explain.

“First of all, I came so early to learn magic from you, of course,” Koby said, his eyes gleaming with a thirst for magic and his voice tinged with impatience.

"Secondly, I really didn't sleep last night. I couldn't help it, I was too excited. The thought of learning magic kept me awake."

Finally, my house is on another street, a bit far from here.” Koby said, gesturing with his hands to indicate the direction, as if trying to make it clearer for Rhine where he lived.

Upon hearing Koby's explanation, Rein's expression softened slightly, as he gained a better understanding of Koby's behavior and feelings.

"Can you teach me magic?" Koby stared intently at Rein, his eyes filled with anticipation, his voice even trembling slightly, clearly showing that he had been looking forward to learning magic for a long time.

“No.” Rein’s answer was unusually decisive, without the slightest hesitation. His firm tone shattered Koby’s expectations instantly.

"Huh? Why? Didn't we agree on this last night?" Koby's shoulders slumped, his voice filled with frustration, clearly confused and disappointed by Rhine's rejection.

"It was agreed upon. I said I needed to get familiar with it first."

"Have you familiarized yourself with it yet?" Koby asked again, still with a glimmer of hope in his eyes, unwilling to give up.

"No, it's not that easy to get used to something." Rein's answer dashed Koby's hopes once again.

"No, no, I feel like I can't wait any longer. If you don't teach me, I'll bother you every day."

Koby's expression held a hint of cunning, but his voice was full of determination, as if he was prepared for a long entanglement.

"Do you believe I'll beat you so badly you end up in the hospital?"

Rein threatened with a hint of helplessness in his voice, as he didn't really want to hurt Koby.

"Go ahead and hit me. I'll come back after I get out of the hospital, unless you kill me."

Koby seemed completely unfazed, his eyes revealing a firm determination to learn magic, unmoved even by Rhine's threats.

"Stop, stop, stop." Rhine finally couldn't stand the guy's stubbornness anymore. He raised his hand and made a stop gesture.

"Here's what we'll do: go borrow a magic book, a book on the basics of magic. Take a look at it yourself first, and then come ask me if you don't understand anything."

Rhine proposed a compromise, hoping it would calm Koby down first.

"How do I borrow it?" Koby was taken aback, clearly unfamiliar with how the library worked.

"Of course we should go to the library. Where else can we borrow it?" Rein was both amused and exasperated. He hadn't expected that Koby wouldn't even know such a basic thing.

"Oh, okay, I'll go borrow it now." Koby nodded repeatedly, as if he had finally found a solution to the problem.

He turned to leave as he spoke, his steps hurried, as if afraid that Rhine might change his mind.

“Remember, go back and study it carefully. Come back to me when you’re done.” Rein’s tone was serious. He hoped that Koby would take this learning opportunity seriously and not treat it as a joke.

“Okay. I’ll be there as soon as possible.” Koby’s voice was full of determination as he answered, already eagerly planning his study schedule.

"Take your time and see. There's no need to rush. Don't be impatient for quick results."

Rein watched Koby's departing figure, unsure if the guy had heard his last words.
