All-around teacher at the magic academy
Chapter 146 The End
In a corner of the college, in the faculty apartments.
In this tranquil place, in a secluded room, the white-haired teacher, Polan, is intently studying the original magic book.
He dedicated his life to the study of curse magic; it was his passion and his lifelong pursuit.
His wish was simple yet grand: he wanted to master every spell in the magic book.
However, the spells in the book are complex and obscure, like a riddle woven from ancient languages, which always caused him to encounter many obstacles on his research path.
Professor Bolan has devoted almost all his energy to research over the past few decades.
He stayed up countless nights, trying countless times to decipher those ancient symbols and incantations, but his progress was slow and difficult.
Throughout this long exploration, he only touched the threshold of curse magic.
He knew his time was running out, but he persisted in his research and worked even harder than before.
He closed the heavy magic book, his fingers lingering on the cover for a moment, as if bidding farewell to an old friend.
When he looked up, he felt a slight headache, a common symptom after a long period of focused study.
He glanced at the clock on the wall and was slightly surprised, realizing that he had unknowingly spent 10 hours in the room.
Whenever he was immersed in his research on magic, he would forget the passage of time, forget to eat, and even forget to rest.
He knew he wasn't a magician born with exceptional magical talent, but he believed that through tireless effort and perseverance, he could make up for his shortcomings.
Sometimes, when he thinks of Leon, an indescribable feeling of jealousy wells up inside him.
He clearly remembered that when he first started learning curse magic, it took him more than three months just to get the basics down, which involved countless days and nights of hard study and practice.
However, when he explained it to Leon, Leon mastered it in just a few days.
He had to admit that there were indeed true geniuses in this world, those who could grasp and master the essentials of magic in a short period of time.
However, he was also clearly aware that he did not belong to this type of person.
Teacher Bolan gently pushed open the door, and was greeted by the cool evening air and the gradually dimming light of the sky.
He touched his empty stomach and realized he hadn't eaten all day. The hunger instantly snapped him awake; it was time to eat something.
However, his gaze was soon drawn to a notebook on the ground in front of the door.
He frowned, filled with doubt. Who put this here?
He bent down to pick up the notebook and casually flipped to a page.
But in that one glance, his body involuntarily shivered, and a crazy thought surged into his mind.
He flipped through the notebook quickly, each page filled with detailed notes and translations.
Mr. Polan's heart raced, and his eyes widened as he discovered that the notebook was actually a translation of the magic book.
This magic book, which he had devoted all his efforts to studying but could never fully decipher, has now been translated.
He immediately turned around and closed the door, but feeling uneasy, he locked it from the inside.
He returned to his desk, picked up the magic book, and began comparing it page by page with his notebook.
As the pages turned, Mr. Polan could clearly hear his own heartbeat, the sound echoing in his ears, growing louder and louder.
Gradually, tears welled up in his eyes. These tears were not from sadness, but from an indescribable excitement and sense of accomplishment.
The goals he most wanted to achieve in his life, the accomplishments he had always dreamed of, were all realized in this notebook.
He started laughing, the laughter echoing in the empty room, sounding somewhat manic, yet also somewhat liberated.
.....
Exhausted, Ilya returned to his room after a long day of classes.
She gently turned the key and pushed open the door, only to be greeted not by a quiet room, but by the enthusiastic barking of a Samoyed.
She crouched down, hugged the excited dog, and asked with a smile, "What's wrong, little guy? Why are you so excited?"
The Samoyed barked even louder, broke free from Ilya's embrace, and ran headlong into the house.
Ilya followed closely behind the dog, wondering what it had discovered.
She thought it might have destroyed something again, after all, it could be mischievous at times.
However, when she saw the thick envelope on the table, her heart started to beat faster.
Her intuition told her this wasn't a good thing. Elijah carefully opened the envelope, and what was inside left her speechless with surprise—a thick stack of banknotes, weighing about thirty pounds.
Seeing so much money, she felt no joy, but rather a pang of sadness. She quickly put the money down, and without thinking, rushed out of the room.
She ran without stopping until she arrived at Leon's residence. Her heart was pounding; she desperately wanted to find the answer.
However, when she saw that Leon's room was completely dark and without any lights, a bad feeling crept into her heart.
She slowly walked forward and knocked on the cold door, but there was no response from inside.
She knelt helplessly at the doorway. In the darkness, her thin figure stood there all alone, looking rather forlorn.
...
In another equally quiet room, on a desk by the window, a diary lay quietly, seemingly telling the story of its owner.
Beneath the diary, an envelope was neatly pressed down, with only a corner showing.
The room had been uninhabited for several days, and a thin layer of dust began to slowly accumulate in the air. The room temperature also became increasingly cold due to the absence of its occupant.
Meanwhile, in a hospital ward in Barton, a quiet atmosphere prevailed.
The person lying in bed, whose face was originally as pale as paper, gradually regained some color.
The atmosphere in the ward was peaceful and quiet. Through the ward window, one could see that the outside world had entered winter.
The leaves on the branches had long since fallen, leaving only bare branches standing there, lonely and resolute.
They swayed gently in the cold wind, seemingly waiting for the arrival of spring and for new life to come.
.....
On the sea, a medium-sized boat drifts aimlessly with the rise and fall of the waves.
The sea breeze howled past, carrying a salty, damp scent, causing the boat to rock from side to side, as if it were dancing an uncontrollable dance.
Leon stood at the bow of the ship, facing the surging sea, feeling the fierce sea breeze.
He let the wind blades slice across his face, his hair flying wildly, but he made no move to dodge.
He was filled with confusion and uncertainty, knew nothing about the situation in Barton, and had no desire to find out.
That city, once filled with memories, is now a thing of the past for him. He will sever ties with it and no longer let its troubles hold him back.
Leon unfolded the map in his hand by the faint moonlight. It was a yellowed old piece of paper with a destination marked on it in pencil.
He knew nothing about the place and had no expectations.
He only wanted to go with the flow of fate, to let himself drift along in this vast world, no longer forcing things, no longer struggling.
He tightened his coat, trying to ward off the cold sea breeze. Looking around, the sea was desolate and dark, making it impossible to discern his surroundings.
Leon couldn't help but sigh, turning to walk towards the ship. The sigh quickly dissipated in the sea breeze, as if it had never existed.
Just as he was leaving, he suddenly felt a strong sense of unease, and his body instinctively began to send out warnings of danger.
The feeling was so intense that he was momentarily stunned, his mind filled with disbelief. He stood at the bow of the ship, his heart pounding, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.
"What's going on?" Leon wondered. In just a moment of hesitation, the dangerous aura surged in like a tidal wave, growing stronger and stronger until he could hardly breathe.
He struggled to suppress the fear in his heart, and following the ominous source, slowly raised his head, his gaze piercing through the night sky.
The once pitch-black sky suddenly became exceptionally bright, as if countless stars were blooming simultaneously, their dazzling light blinding the eye.
The people on the ship were stunned by this sudden phenomenon. They all came out of the cabin, looked up at the sky, and each of them opened their mouths wide, swallowing nervously, not knowing how to face this sudden change.
Leon's gaze was fixed on the golden greatsword overhead, its blade radiating a suffocating aura of holiness, its light as dazzling as the sun, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
He chuckled silently, a hint of resentment flashing in his eyes.
He began rapidly gathering magical energy around him, unleashing all his defensive measures. Light shimmered around him, forming powerful shields. He knew this might be his last stand.
However, the chains on the golden greatsword had already locked onto him. With a deafening explosion, a bright light burst forth from where the ship had been, a blinding white light that instantly illuminated the entire sea surface.
The surrounding creatures sensed an unprecedented threat and began to scatter frantically. Schools of fish darted about in the water, but no matter how hard they tried, they could not escape the reach of the white light.
Ten minutes later, the blinding white light finally dissipated, and the night sky was once again replaced by the pale moonlight. However, the sea still failed to regain its calm. The waves rolled, as if mourning everything that had just happened.
The original ship had been shattered by that powerful magical attack, and large numbers of creature corpses floated on the sea, a truly gruesome scene.
Leon felt his body sinking deeper and deeper. In the oxygen-deprived environment, his brain began to sluggish, making it difficult for him to think clearly.
He knew he had to take action and get out of this deadly situation as soon as possible, but his struggles seemed futile; the harder he tried, the faster his body sank.
As the oxygen gradually decreased, his consciousness began to blur. In a daze, he saw his mother, his eldest brother, the dead Philip, Elijah, Harvey and Mrs. Maria, Hansen, and Lean waving at him.
He wanted to reach out and touch those familiar figures, but he was getting further and further away from them.
He began to struggle frantically, trying to beg them not to abandon him, that he didn't want to be alone, that he wanted to stay with them.
Maybe giving up like this isn't so bad. I really don't want to continue. I'm really tired.
...
As the morning sun slowly rises over the sea, the entire ocean begins to be bathed in a golden glow, its shimmering surface resembling sparkling gems.
On this beautiful beach, a girl walks barefoot on the sand, her steps light and joyful.
The girl carried a basket filled with creatures washed ashore by the waves, her face beaming with excitement and curiosity.
She looked up, wiped the sweat from her face, and gazed at the sea ahead, noticing a dark shape not far away.
Curiosity drove her to keep walking in that direction...
