Chapter 125 Arriving in time
As the aftershocks of the explosion subsided and the smoke and dust gradually faded from view, Harvey's figure slowly emerged in the haze.
His clothes were unrecognizable, scattered in pieces, revealing multiple burns on his skin. Although each wound was excruciatingly painful, Harvey was thankful that they were only superficial injuries and had not reached his vital organs.
A hint of surprise flashed in Galli's eyes. He hadn't expected that Harvey could still stand in front of him after enduring such a powerful attack.
However, this surprise did not slow his attack. His belief was that if one attack couldn't defeat his opponent, then he would try again. He didn't believe Harvey had the strength to continue resisting.
Harvey's gaze was fixed on Galli's hand as he gathered strength again, and a sense of powerlessness was evident in his eyes.
The attack had almost exhausted all his strength, and now his hands were still trembling involuntarily, making it difficult for him to even stand.
A thought flashed through his mind: Is this really the end of everything here today?
Faced with Galli's renewed attack, Harvey felt a surge of resentment deep within him.
He knew he might not have much strength left to resist, but his will told him that even with slim hope, he couldn't give up. He gritted his teeth, enduring the pain and exhaustion in his body, and tried his best to gather the little magic he had left.
Harvey's eyes gleamed with determination as he took a deep breath, preparing for the impending attack.
His hands began to slowly rise, and although the movement was difficult, and although his resistance might be insignificant in the face of Galli's powerful attack, he knew that if he did not resist, there would truly be no hope.
Just at this critical moment, a deafening roar suddenly erupted behind Harvey, the sound like thunder, instantly shattering the tense atmosphere on the battlefield.
Immediately following was the sound of the magic barrier shattering. The magic barrier that had trapped the two collapsed in an instant, turning into countless points of light and dissipating into the air.
Then, an even more violent explosion followed, and a powerful purple lightning bolt, like a raging dragon, met head-on with the magical attack that was about to strike Harvey.
Two completely different magical energies collided violently in the air, exploding rapidly and releasing dazzling light and huge energy fluctuations that shook the surrounding air.
As the light gradually faded, Gali's eyes were finally able to penetrate the blinding brilliance and see the scene before him clearly.
In his line of sight, a dark figure blocked Harvey's path. The figure was tall and imposing, skillfully concealing his face, hiding his entire countenance in deep darkness, making him impossible to see through.
Galli's eyes were fixed on the suddenly appearing figure like sharp arrows, and his brows furrowed involuntarily.
This new rescuer gave him an indescribable sense of danger, like a ferocious beast lurking in the shadows, ready to strike a fatal blow at any moment.
Harvey stared at the figure standing before him, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside him. He tried to speak, but before he could utter a word, Leon's cold voice interrupted him.
“I’ll hold him off for you. You should hurry and get out of here. The rest of the Knights will probably be here soon.”
Harvey's words caught in his throat, but he ultimately didn't speak. He understood Professor Leon's meaning and knew that his most important task now was to leave, not to delay.
He could only keep his gratitude deep in his heart, because he knew he already owed Teacher Leon too much.
Harvey didn't hesitate any longer. He knew he couldn't linger here. His mother was waiting for him, and he had a mission he had to complete.
He began to flee swiftly in the opposite direction from Leon. Every step he took was firm and powerful; despite the pain in his body and the worry in his heart for Leon, he knew this was the best option at the moment.
Galli, seeing Harvey about to escape, was about to intercept him when his movements were interrupted by a sudden magical attack from Leon. Leon's attack was accurate and sharp, clearly calculated to stop Galli's pursuit.
"Do you think I'd let you stop him?" Leon's voice was deep and firm, his eyes unwavering, indicating that he was ready to confront Galli.
Galli's face was grim, his gaze sharp as ice, as he coldly replied, "I don't care who you are, do you know the consequences of letting a criminal escape?" His words conveyed a warning to Leon, while also revealing his unwavering commitment to his duty.
Leon did not reply immediately; he simply stared intently at Gali, a sense of unease rising within him.
Who is this guy? He remembered that the Knights should be Lucas, so when did this Galli start getting involved?
Leon's intuition told him that the man before him was far more powerful than Lucas, and his status and strength were clearly superior to Lucas's.
Leon's mind quickly replayed the previous information. He remembered that Lucas was the vice-captain of the Knights. If this Galli was stronger than Lucas, could he be the captain of the Knights?
Galli stopped wasting words with him. Since one prisoner had escaped, they could only use the person in front of them as a substitute. Judging from their behavior just now, it was obvious that they knew each other. As long as they caught this one, they didn't believe the other one wouldn't show up.
With that thought, Gali felt relieved and began to take the stranger in front of him seriously; he was much more formidable than the one from before.
Galli gripped the sword hilt tightly with both hands, and magic began to gather in his left hand, the power of light slowly condensing there. His movements were practiced and fluid, as if he had practiced this move a thousand times.
As magic continued to gather, a long chain composed of pure light elements gradually formed in Gali's hands. This chain of light shone brightly in the air, each link like a meticulously crafted gem, radiating dazzling brilliance.
Galli's chain of light drew a bright arc in the air and landed precisely on Leon.
Seeing the chains of light flying towards him, Leon immediately tried to dodge, but his feet seemed to be bound by an invisible gravity, rendering him unable to move. He was startled, not understanding why he had suddenly lost the ability to move.
The chain of light, like a living snake, coiled precisely around Leon's body, tightly binding his limbs. Gali grasped the other end of the chain and pulled hard, causing Leon to lose his balance and be dragged towards Gali by the powerful force.
Galli's sword flashed through the air, poised to deliver a fatal blow the instant Leon flew in. Leon felt a chill run down his spine; he knew he had to react, or face certain death. In that split second, he swiftly gathered his magic, preparing to counter Galli's attack.
Just as Gali's sword was about to touch Leon, countless dark spikes suddenly erupted from beneath Gali's feet. They shot out of the ground like claws from underground demons, trying to pin him to the ground.
Sensing the threat beneath his feet, Galli quickly used his movement technique to retreat from his original position. His body drew an arc in the air, instantly widening the distance between him and Leon.
