Chapter 59 The Sword Saint's Curtain Falls

Then Kasa picked up the sword he had seized from Agred and swung it at him. Agred immediately raised his arm to block, but the sword, which had been invincible just moments before, failed to even cut through Agred's armor this time.

Agreed chuckled smugly, “The enchantment on this sword requires magic to function, so you’re either a mage or you can’t use this sword at all.”

Kasa shouted angrily, "You think I can't do anything to you!" With that, he used his sword as a blunt weapon to strike Agreed's head again and again. However, Agreed's armor had very comprehensive protective enchantments, so it didn't do much damage. However, the impact of a blunt weapon was still difficult to neutralize. At this moment, Agreed was like a ball being bounced around by Kasa, which was quite comical.

But at that moment, a phantom of a heart suddenly appeared in Agred's hand—the high-level blood magic 'Heart Mastery'! Agred crushed it instantly, and in a flash, Kasa's heart meridians were severed, and blood gushed uncontrollably from his wounds. However, at the same time, Agred also suffered a backlash, becoming extremely weak and collapsing to the ground.

Kasa, as expected of a former legendary powerhouse, did not die. Instead, he slowly stood up and looked at Agreed lying on the ground, shouting, "Blood magic?! You know a lot, kid! But blood magic relies on the strength of bloodline. Humans are still too weak compared to orcs. This move has drained your energy and may even have overdrawn your own life. You really risked your life, kid."

Agreed struggled to his feet and said with a bitter smile, "Fighting you without the resolve to fight to the death is a sure way to lose."

Kasa could no longer hold on and collapsed to his knees, coughing up blood as he acknowledged, "You... are truly a rare genius. It's unimaginable what your future would be like if you were a dragon, no, even if you were just a higher being with some racial advantage, like an elf! What a pity, but let me help you out."

As he spoke, Kasa took a book out of his pocket, knelt down shakily, and held it up.

"This is a martial arts manual that I have written down based on my life's experience. I am giving it to you, hoping that you can use it to further your skills."

Agreed walked over and took the book. He opened it and found it filled with orcish language he couldn't understand, but he still asked, "Why? Why are you giving it to me? You have no reason to help your enemy become stronger."

Kasa lowered his hands helplessly and cried out, "This is just the ambition of a powerful figure whose era has ended, who wants to support another powerful figure!"

Agreed looked at him and asked again, "Can you answer a question for me? Why is the mighty old orc swordsman coming here to fight with such a chaotic army? I think there is no way you can win with the quality of your army. At best, you can only reach the center of Avalon."

Casa smiled bitterly and told Agred a bloody truth.

"Because we were sent here to die. Orcs give birth to at least four children per litter, and a female orc can give birth once a year. Our ancestors even reproduced by releasing spores to create plant-like incubators. Our race has grown so rapidly, and the land we control is so barren and small, that the weak... are not fit to live."

All the old orcs will be gathered together to form a suicide squad. Our next mission is to invade human kingdoms and plunder as much food and supplies as possible to replenish the orc empire. Even though I was once a sword saint, from the moment I was defeated and replaced, in the eyes of the orc empire I am just an old man in my twilight years, a warrior who will soon lose his usefulness.

So we came here, where death is the end for all of us, and even our corpses will be collected and used as food for dire wolves.

Agreed questioned, "So you turned your swords on those innocent people?"

Kasa scoffed, then shouted with all his might, "No one is innocent! In any world, weakness is the original sin! Freedom, equality, wealth, rights, respect—can these be obtained by begging? Are you waiting for someone to give them to you? Don't be foolish, my friend."

“This should not be a reason or excuse for your atrocities,” Agreed commented.

Casa retorted disdainfully, "Isn't that how it is? Why does a hungry wolf dare to hunt a sheep instead of a fearsome bear? Why does a lion dare to hunt a zebra instead of an elephant with long tusks?"

Agreed fell silent. He knew that Casa's theory was not wrong, but he did not want to admit it.

Agreed drew the dagger from his waist and pressed it against Casa's neck, saying, "I'll give you a quick death."

Despite bleeding from all seven orifices, Kasa still smiled and replied, "Thank you."

The weakened Agreed leaned forward, putting all his weight onto the dagger, causing it to plunge into Kasa's neck and sever his head.

Then Agreed rolled weakly to the side, panting heavily, his eyelids began to droop, and he fell into a coma.

The battle lasted a long time and ended in a human victory. It is estimated that at least 10,000 orc soldiers died at the city walls (and several thousand more died in the magical attack by Agred that night). Although the adventurers and defenders of Sunset City suffered heavy casualties, they still managed to hold the city.

In his dream, Agreed saw Tutankhamun again; he was back to sell his wares.

"You almost died here again, but if you inherit my power, this will never happen again. You will become the only king in this world! Accept it, become the one and only Grand Duke of the Undead!"

Agreed sneered disdainfully, "How many times have I said it? I don't want to become a skeleton monster, much less a living dead. I can become strong on my own." With that, he ignored Tutankhamun and fell into a deep sleep, simultaneously circulating his soul vortex to cultivate his soul.

Tutankhamun had no choice but to leave again. After Agreed broke through to the level of a great mage, he kept trying to persuade Agreed to abandon his life and become an undead to accept his magical inheritance, but for some reason, he was always rejected by Agreed.

Five days later, Agreed groggily opened his eyes.

Hepburn quickly came over, holding a bottle of potion and handing it to Agreed. Agreed drank it without hesitation, and after catching his breath, asked, "Did we win?"

Hepburn nodded and said, "The orc army has temporarily left Sunset City, but we are still sending people out of here in a steady stream. After all, we probably can't withstand the next wave of orc attacks. Hopefully, this disaster will end soon."

Argreed sighed helplessly. The orcs' suicide troops made them feel like they were facing a formidable enemy. If the real orc army were to attack one day, how would humanity resist? It would be an even greater catastrophe, and countless countries would be reduced to ashes.

However, these are not things that Agred should be thinking about right now. After all, he is a nobody and his voice is weak. He should just focus on living his own life.

Another day passed, and with Hepburn's healing medicine and careful care, Agreed had almost recovered. Afterwards, Agreed took some time to visit Pawnshop No. 7 again.

Pushing open the door, Agreed took out a crystal ball and said, "I've come to pay my debt."

Mammon took the crystal ball, looked at it, and asked, "So what do you plan to trade for the remaining souls?"

Agreed took out the book Casa had given him and asked, "Could you translate it into a common language for me?"

Mammon chuckled and said, "Of course, and considering our friendship, I can translate for you for free."
