Chapter 53 Wei Wujiang is gone

By the time Wei Wujiang called her to dinner, the warmth of the charcoal brazier had already dispelled the traces of its icy state.

The meal took an hour and a half to prepare. If Deng Yin hadn't eaten some fruit, he would have been starving long ago.

Wei Wujiang ate the meal with a worried expression, wondering how to tell Deng Yin about his departure without upsetting him.

Deng Yin didn't notice Wei Wujiang's dilemma; he was too busy eating.

It's easy to get hungry after a good night's sleep, but the two of them were taking so long to cook this morning.

After they had eaten almost all of their food, Wei Wujiang knew that there was no point in delaying any longer, so she decided to speak up sooner rather than later.

"Deng Yin, I..."

At the same time, another voice rang out. "Wei Wujiang, I see your injuries have almost healed, you can go now."

Wei Wujiang used his eyes to scan Deng Yin's mouth, hoping to determine what Deng Yin was saying.

Deng Yin looked at Wei Wujiang and asked, "What were you trying to say?"

Wei Wujiang shook her head stiffly, her heart filled with bitterness. "It's nothing."

It should have been known long ago that Deng Yin preferred Gao Ruizhe to him. His previous reluctance to let him leave wasn't out of reluctance, but simply a manifestation of his heroism.

She would not leave someone injured without helping them, nor would she let a patient who was still recovering leave.

I should have known...

Wei Wujiang suppressed her emotions, smiled at Deng Yin, and said, "Don't worry, I won't forget you..." Wei Wujiang paused for a few seconds, then continued, "As for the money, I'll find someone to give it to you as soon as I get home."

Deng Yin was in a good mood; the male lead was indeed a good person. "No rush."

Gao Ruizhe understood Wei Wujiang's meaning, but judging from Deng Yin's expression...

She didn't understand at all.

Feifei, who had zero dating experience, understood Wei Wujiang's meaning. Although he had never been in a relationship, he had seen Gao Ruizhe do. Someone who can act as a facilitator has a much better grasp of relationships than someone who has been in one.

It can be said that Gao Ruizhe's success was partly due to Fei Fei, in addition to his own efforts.

Feifei glanced at Wei Wujiang, then at Deng Yin.

This task seems a bit difficult...

Wei Wujiang didn't leave until he finished washing the dishes. Before leaving, he wanted to talk to Deng Yin. Carrying the bundle that Feifei had prepared for him, he couldn't bring himself to knock on the door several times.

Feifei couldn't stand seeing Wei Wujiang standing at the door any longer. "Do you have something to say to her?"

When Wei Wujiang saw someone coming, she panicked for a moment, but quickly calmed down.

"Yes, I haven't had a chance to thank her yet."

Feifei shoved Wei Wujiang. "Then why don't you go inside quickly?"

Wei Wujiang was caught off guard and was actually pushed forward by Feifei. She couldn't control herself and lunged forward, accidentally pushing open Deng Yin's door.

Inside the room, Deng Yin was reading a storybook about this world. Seeing the two standing at the door, before he could say anything, Fei Fei ran away.

Seeing Feifei run away, Wei Wujiang no longer hesitated, closed the door, and said to Deng Yin, "Um... you saved me, and I haven't had a chance to thank you yet."

Deng Yin turned the book upside down on the table to make sure he could find the correct page when he looked at it later.

"Hey, why are you being so polite with me? Saying thank you isn't important, the gift is."

"Huh?" Wei Wujiang opened her eyes wide and stared blankly at Deng Yin.

Deng Yin was amused by this expression, stood up from his chair, and put his hand on Wei Wujiang's shoulder...

Not high enough, couldn't reach it...

Deng Yin's expression remained unchanged, showing no embarrassment whatsoever. He made a fist and lightly punched Wei Wujiang below her shoulder blade. He laughed and said, "I was just joking. You actually believed me?"

Wei Wujiang felt that Deng Yin's punch must have hit his heart.

Otherwise, why would my heart keep pounding...?

Seeing that Wei Wujiang didn't speak and just stared blankly at her, Deng Yin raised her hand and waved it in front of Wei Wujiang's eyes: "Have you been hammered silly?"

Wei Wujiang looked at Deng Yin seriously and nodded. "Mm."

Wei Wujiang only managed to say half a sentence; she couldn't get the second half out no matter what she said.

The second half of what Wei Wujiang didn't say was...

You are responsible.

When Deng Yin saw that Wei Wujiang was shamelessly trying to stage an accident, he wondered if Wei Wujiang didn't want to pay him back. His smile gradually faded.

"Don't try to scam me, or I'll report you to the authorities."

Seeing her serious expression, Wei Wujiang couldn't help but laugh.

Deng Yin had never realized that Wei Wujiang's laughter was so pleasant, nor had he ever realized that his laughter was so handsome...

Even if it looks good, you can't try to piggyback on someone else's success!

Although Deng Yin doesn't need money at all now, and it doesn't matter whether Wei Wujiang gives her money or not, it can only be if she takes the initiative to say no, not if the other party tries to renege on the agreement!

Deng Yin's attitude softened slightly under Wei Wujiang's smile, but not by much.

Wei Wujiang knew he couldn't tease him anymore, so he put his hand on Deng Yin's shoulder.

Deng Yin couldn't stand this. What did he mean? Was it because she hadn't been able to reach his shoulder earlier, and he was now using that to mock her?

Deng Yin shoved Wei Wujiang's hand away. To be honest, Deng Yin had quite a bit of strength, and he managed to make Wei Wujiang's hand draw a semi-circle in the air.

Wei Wujiang wasn't angry; she just smiled at her. "I've changed my mind. I'll personally deliver the thank-you gift."

Without waiting for Deng Yin's reply, he turned and left Deng Yin's room.
