Chapter 29 Quarrel

Even at its fastest speed, the electric car still took a day and a half to arrive.

It was only thanks to Deng Yin needing to sleep at night that the electric car's automatic navigation stopped her from continuing to dig up the plants; otherwise, it would have taken her two days to get there.

Every tree in Baibulin is over a hundred years old, towering into the clouds. Any navigational equipment will malfunction inside. People will get lost within a hundred steps, hence the name Baibulin (meaning "Hundred Steps Forest").

Deng had been here for quite some time and had naturally heard of Baibulin. "System, do I need to go in?"

"Of course we need it, otherwise how could we possibly encounter the mission target?" Deng Yin's frugal behavior along the way displeased the system, so his tone was naturally not very friendly.

Deng Yin wasn't one to mince words. "Did you eat shit? Your mouth stinks!"

The system was shocked by Deng Yin's harsh words and its face turned red with anger. "You...you have no manners! What kind of young girl speaks so rudely like you?"

“I’m not a little girl, I’m your father.”

"You're a girl, so if you're going to be a father, you'll be a mother, not a father." Even though the system was angry, it still corrected Deng Yin's grammatical error.

“I’ll be your dad. Being a dad means I don’t have to do anything, I just need to be in the name. If I were your mom, I’d have to take care of you, wouldn’t that be a loss for me?”

Even when it comes to something as irrational as arguing, Deng Yin always puts the principle of not being taken advantage of first.

"Then you can't be a father." The system was frighteningly rational; even while being scolded, it still insisted on its principles. "At most, you can be a father-mother type."

"No, it sounds awful. When people argue, they keep saying 'I'm your dad,' but I say 'I'm your dad and mom,' which sounds awful and is too long. By the time I finish one sentence, they've already said two sentences to me."

......

That makes some sense.

No, I almost got led astray by Deng Yin. "Even when arguing, you can't say the wrong thing, because the other person can easily find out and use it to attack you."

The system is quite experienced when it comes to arguing; it can always accurately pinpoint the other person's mistakes and amplify them to attack them.

Deng Yin raised an eyebrow and said, "So, is it wrong for me to say I'm your father or your mother? I can't be your mother or your father, so since it's wrong both times, why not choose the one you like better?"

"..."

"Swearing is just for fun, right? Do you think it's about reasoning with someone and making them realize their mistakes?"

"What...what if...?"

"If the other person could realize that what he did was wrong, he wouldn't have done it in the first place. Besides, I scolded him because he made me angry. He doesn't care about my mental and physical health, so why should I help him to suddenly realize his mistake?"

"..."

"Don't be too saintly when making systems."

"......good"

"What did you just say, 'what if'?"

"It's nothing." Afraid that Deng Yin would ask any more questions, the system quickly changed the subject. "By the way, we have to go quickly, or the mission target will die."

"Dead?" Deng Yin was taken aback. "The target was alive?"

"Huh?" The system was also confused. "You don't know?"

Deng shook his head. "I don't know."

Deng Yin always likes to use gestures when he speaks, and he can't break this habit even when facing a system that he doesn't know if he can see.

The system transmitted the route to the electric vehicle's system. Along the way, Deng Yin ate two bowls of wontons, four shrimp dumplings, one white sesame cake, two pieces of jade cake, and drank two cups of condensing liquid.

It seems that the world in which the system exists is quite technologically advanced, and it is completely unaffected even in Baibulin.

The moment the thought crossed my mind, the electric scooter broke down.

The sudden stop almost threw Deng Yin off her, spilling most of the glass of Glowing Liquid all over her.

"System, are you doing this on purpose?" Deng Yin asked with a smile, his voice extremely gentle.

But for some reason, the system sensed murderous intent in her voice. "It wasn't me. The magnetic field here is very strange, and the electric car's navigation is malfunctioning."

Fearing Deng Yin wouldn't believe it, the system shook its head and waved its hands.

Completely unaware, Deng Yin couldn't see it at all.

Deng Yin squinted and looked around. The trees were too tall and blocked the sunlight. Although it was noon, it looked like evening.

"You transmitted the route to my brain, the magnetic field didn't affect you, did it?"

"No!" Perhaps thinking of redeeming itself, the system answered very decisively.

Seriously, it's a shame the system isn't used for navigation.

The route didn't appear in my mind like a picture, but rather on the ground as arrows.

After riding for a short while, the trees ahead became too dense to pass the electric scooter.

Deng Yin had no choice but to start walking. After walking for about an hour, a man hanging from a tree branch appeared in front of him.

It doesn't look like it was sleeping up there; it looks like it's dead.

The man was impaled in the waist by a tree branch, and blood flowed down the trunk to the ground.

Deng Yin pointed at the man and asked, "This wouldn't happen to be the mission target, would it?"

"Yes~" It was afraid that Deng Yin would say it had a bad attitude, so it was now speaking very carefully.

"I'm not doing this task. You can issue the next one." Deng Yin turned and left, his steps quick.

Hurry up and we can still get out before dinner.

"No! You have to save this person, or you'll regret it!" Seeing that Deng Yin was really about to leave, the system didn't care about its tone anymore.

"Oh?" Deng Yin stopped in his tracks. "I'll regret it if I save him, won't I?"

Seeing that Deng Yin's attitude had softened, the system quickly advised, "Do you know who this person is? He is—"

“I know.” Deng Yin interrupted the system. “I’ve read a lot of novels about picking up men in the wild. They’re either princes or generals or regents.”

"Do you know why you're still leaving? Don't you want the gold coins? He's very rich."

"So what? What does his money have to do with me?" Deng Yin was tired from walking, so he simply sat down on the ground and chatted with the system. "Saving a wild man in the wild will never end well. He must have been injured like this by his political enemies or subordinates. If I save him, I will have to take care of him. He will marry me because I saved his life."

"Isn't this repaying kindness with enmity?"

"These kinds of people usually have a white moonlight (ideal love) or a woman who deeply loves them. No matter who the other person is, they will attack me because of my appearance."

"If the woman he deeply loves is fine, but if she's his unrequited love, he'll definitely misunderstand me, and eventually I'll leave him, and then he'll start his own 'wife-chasing-after-the-cremation' scenario. I'm tired of these kinds of novels, and I have no interest in being the protagonist."

The system was increasingly surprised as it listened; this host was truly well-read and knew everything.

But there's one thing she's wrong about. "This person wasn't harmed, but the other party has never met him?"

Deng Yin became interested again: "Tell me in detail."

System: "I can't say, but you'll find out later. That person is involved in the secrets of this world. You have to find the answer yourself."

"Oh." Deng Yin stood up, dusted himself off, and continued walking along the path he had come from.

System: "Don't go, don't go. Look at you, you're in such a hurry. Although I can't tell you who that person is, I can tell you that the person in the tree is worth 30 points, and there's a mission that requires him, and that mission is worth 40 points."

Deng Yin's eyes lit up.

Deng Yin's eyes went dark again.

"You don't mean I have to take care of him until he recovers, do you?"

system:"......"

Seeing that the system remained silent, Deng Yin knew she had guessed correctly.
