Chapter 114 Cui Wuji Arrives
What Deng Yin didn't know was that if the soil she dug from the riverbank hadn't been clay, the cups would have cracked even faster.
Cement only exists in history books. Legend has it that people used to live in houses made of cement. Deng Yin had only heard of it but had never seen it in person, so he could only understand it literally and thought that cement was mud made by mixing water and soil.
In reality, the process of making cement is much more complicated. It requires grinding limestone and clay into powder, then calcining them into clinker. The clinker is then ground together with the slag left over from iron smelting. Only the final product can be called cement.
Pottery making is not simply a matter of drying; it also requires high-temperature smelting.
The temperature inside the space was pleasant, but it certainly couldn't meet the high temperatures required for pottery making, so the bottles Deng Yin made were all just dried clay.
Fortunately, after filling the bottles with plant juice, Deng Yin separated them with air walls, which prevented any damage.
Deng Yin's mind raced. She didn't want to waste time or a single point, so she spent two days holed up in the basement trying to find a solution.
While she was thinking, she didn't stop working; she pressed a bunch of cypress metal sheets into semicircles.
The area around the house is not flat; it is somewhat rugged. There is a river to the east, and Deng Yin plans to divert all the water into the river.
Actually, there's no need to go through all that trouble. Dengyin has a tree lake, which can collect rainwater when it rains. The tree lake has its own purification function, so no matter how dirty the water is, it's drinkable when poured out.
Fortunately, the house wasn't far from the river, so this task was basically a free way to earn points.
Before she could even start digging the ditch, Cui Wuji arrived.
It wasn't difficult to find out where Deng Yin lived; she had never hidden her tracks.
Since it was an incognito visit, Cui Wuji didn't bring many people with him, only Zhao Shanglan and two guards.
"What is this?" Cui Wuji asked, pointing to the object in front of him. It was very tall, almost as tall as the Hall of Supreme Harmony. The bottom shimmered with silver light, and with the sunlight shining through, it was dazzling. But the top looked just like an ordinary house.
Zhao Shanglan had never seen anything like this before, and said uncertainly, "Maybe this is where the immortals live?"
When the two arrived, Deng Yin was renovating the house. The house had already been renovated and had all the necessary items. Deng Yin's renovation involved turning her wardrobe into a bed.
In order to fit four rooms on this floor, Deng Yin not only filled in the roof of the shorter floor, but also chose smaller rooms.
The room is quite small, so the bed is also quite small. It's enough for one person, but it's a bit cramped for two people.
Wang Moyu's room was alright; it was the largest of the three rooms and could fit two people, but Deng Yin's room was not.
To prevent Wang Xi from having nowhere to stay if the two of them quarrel in the future, Deng Yin plans to get her a bed in her room.
Anyway, clothes can be stored in the space. Wardrobes are useless and take up space, so it's better to turn them into beds.
There is a bed in Deng Yin's space, but it's a waste to use such a good wardrobe for firewood; it would be better to turn it into a bed.
The noise downstairs wasn't deliberately kept down, but the house was very well soundproofed, with all the windows closed. Combined with the sounds of hammers and nails hitting each other, Deng Yin couldn't hear a single word.
Zhao Shanglan shouted at the silver rectangular bar, "Immortal Deng Yin, are you there?"
She shouted with all her might, but Deng Yin's hands were also working with great effort. In the end, Deng Yin was the better one, and the sound of hammering nails drowned out her shouts.
Zhao Shanglan didn't call out Deng Yin, but she did call out Wang Moyu.
The exit to the basement was originally in Deng Yin's room, but now that she has put the original house into her space, the exit is now in the warehouse.
Wang Moyu was a little confused. The outside was not like this when she came in, so how did it become like this when she came out?
Li Pingyue came out with her. The two looked at each other. The candlelight was dim, but enough for them to see the confusion in each other's eyes.
"Where is this?" Wang Moyu asked. "Did Deng Yin's room turn into a storage room?"
Calling it a warehouse isn't entirely accurate, as warehouses only store various items, but rice, which should be stored in a storeroom, was also placed here.
This combines the functions of warehouse and storage.
Fortunately, there were candles everywhere in the room. Li Pingle picked up a candlestick and walked ahead to light the way.
There was a staircase in the house, and the two of them went up the stairs.
After going up, there was a room with beds and other daily necessities, so it was probably for people to live in.
There was a door in the room. This time, Wang Moyu went first. She carefully pushed the door open and, seeing no movement, went forward to check.
There is another door in this room, and in addition to the door, there is a staircase leading upwards.
Wang Moyu didn't go upstairs first, but instead pushed open the door.
Great, there's another house on the other side of the door.
Wang Moyu held the candlestick in one hand and tightly grasped Li Pingle's hand with the other.
This floor, like the one above, has three rooms, with the staircase in the second room.
Li Pingle was a little scared and asked in a low voice, "Ghost... am I trapped in a ghost wall?"
"It shouldn't be," Wang Moyu said. "Each room is different; it's just that there are many rooms."
The two then went upstairs, this time heading straight for the second room, and continued up the stairs.
This floor is clearly different; there are no candles inside, but light can still shine in.
To protect privacy, this floor is different from the three floors below; the door cannot lead to other rooms, but only to a corridor.
The outer side of the corridor was sealed with cypress metal, which saved space and prevented people from falling.
After all, this is the fourth floor; if you fall, you'll be seriously injured even if you don't die.
Wang Moyu extinguished the candlestick in her hand, but instead of throwing it away, she gripped it tightly in a position that would facilitate an attack.
The sounds of smashing and breaking are coming from the room in front; someone must be there.
Wang Moyu loosened her grip on Li Pingle's hand, otherwise she would be hampered in her attack. Li Pingle understood her meaning and did not refuse, but instead advised, "Be careful."
The sound came from the room at the very front. Wang Moyu tiptoed and gestured for Li Pingle to stay put and wait for her.
Li Pingle didn't speak, but nodded vigorously.
Wang Moyu stood in front of the door, not in a hurry to go in, but gently pushed the door open a crack.
Deng was so engrossed in his game that he didn't hear anyone come in.
Upon seeing that the person inside was Deng Yin, Wang Moyu no longer concealed her identity, pushed the door open, and asked, "Where is this?"
When Deng Yin saw Wang Moyu arrive, he put down the hammer in his hand and said, "This is my home. What brings you here?"
"Your home?" Wang Moyu looked around, but it didn't look like her home at all.
“Yes, that’s my house. The old house was too old, so I built a new one.” Deng Yin walked towards Wang Moyu and said, “What do you think? Isn’t the new house nice?”
Seeing that Wang Moyu swaggered in, Li Pingyue knew there was no danger and followed him in.
"It's really quite good." Li Pingle said this, but his expression didn't seem to be praising her. "So you've been working from dawn till dusk these past few days building houses."
"Immortal Deng Yin, are you there?!"
When Zhao Shanglan got tired of shouting, the two guards took turns shouting.
Now that the renovation noise has subsided, Deng Yincai heard someone calling her from downstairs.
Deng Yin opened the window, saw Zhao Shanglan, frowned, and said, "Why are you here?"
Aunt Wang and Uncle Li had a fight because of her. Now that they've finally made up, why is she here again?
The Deng bed-pulling procedure isn't finished yet...
