Cheng Ying and her family of three were enjoying a happy time here, but Ye Jinxuan and Ye Wuhen encountered some trouble. The two arrived in the town and used their identities to get the town's officials to post a missing person notice on the bulletin board.

The town officials were quite cooperative, and the notices posted on the bulletin board not only included half of the coded message but also the names of Cheng Ying, Shi Mobai, Liu Xiangyu, and Chu Qiao.

They also wrote many copies and had the beggars in the town distribute them to every household, hoping that this form of publicity would reach them.

The townspeople thought it was just a missing person notice and didn't pay much attention to it.

After doing all this, Ye Jinxuan and Ye Wuhen secretly left the town one night, hoping to shake off the guards who were following them under the cover of darkness.

After running about two miles from the town, the two, panting heavily, found a patch of grass, not caring whether it was clean or not, and plopped down there, not wanting to move anymore.

"Oh dear, I'm exhausted. Kids' bodies just can't take it. We've only run such a short distance, and I'm already at my limit."

Ye Wuhen leaned against Ye Jinxuan's back, panting as he spoke.

Ye Jinxuan, panting, replied, "You, even if you're young, can you be younger than me? You're already 13, while I'm only nine in this body. Sigh! Which way should we go? Or should we find a place to hide first?"

Ye Wuhen looked around and saw that it was pitch black, and he couldn't tell which way was which. Looking back, the road they had come from was also pitch black.

Ye Wuhen swallowed hard and said through gritted teeth, "We're not too far from the town we came from, but we need to keep going."

Ye Jinxuan also knew that if they didn't continue forward, the secret guards who had been following them would soon find them, and all their efforts would be in vain.

"Alright, in that case, let's continue on our way!"

The two caught their breath and helped each other continue walking forward.

The two walked along, their steps uneven, when suddenly they heard the sound of horses' hooves approaching from afar. Ye Wuhen became alert and pulled Ye Jinxuan into the low bushes by the roadside.

Through the gaps in the leaves, they saw two men in black riding past at high speed. Judging from their attire, they seemed to be the bodyguards who had been chasing them. Only after the sound of hooves faded into the distance did the two men breathe a sigh of relief.

Ye Jinxuan said softly, "It seems we need to be more careful." Ye Wuhen nodded.

A light rain began to fall, making the roads muddy and difficult to travel!

But they dared not stop, encouraging each other to continue their journey.

They chose a direction opposite to that of the guards and continued to walk forward with all their might. After walking for an unknown amount of time, a village of over a hundred families began to appear in the distance.

Ye Wuhen's eyes lit up, and he said to Ye Jinxuan, "Let's hide in the village for a while." The two entered the village and knocked on the door of one of the houses.

A moment later, a man shouted, "Who is it?"

This was shortly after dinner; those who went to bed early had already gone to bed, while those who went to bed late might be doing some work by the light of an oil lamp.

Soon, footsteps approached. A man in his twenties opened the door and, seeing two teenagers, asked, "You're not from the village. What do you want?"

Ye Wuhen bowed and said, "Brother, my brother and I are just passing through and can't make it to the town, so we would like to ask to stay at your house for the night. Would you be so kind as to do us this favor?"

The man saw that the two were teenagers and knew they posed no threat, so he let them in.

After locking the door, the man led them to a room in the side wing. When they reached the door, because it was too dark inside, the man called out again, "Big Head, bring a lamp."

Just then, someone from the main house responded, "Coming!"

A little while later, a boy came slowly over with an oil lamp in his hand. "Dad, here's an oil lamp for you."

The man took the oil lamp from the boy and led Ye Wuhen and the other into a side room. The light from the oil lamp illuminated the furnishings in the room, which included two cabinets and a double bed.

There were two bedding sheets on the bed, and although they had some patches, they were very clean, which shows that the host family is hardworking and clean!

The man said, "My two sons used to live in this house. You two can stay here today!"

Ye Wuhen and Ye Jinxuan immediately clasped their hands in thanks. Ye Wuhen took out a silver ingot from his pocket and handed it to the man, saying, "Brother, please accept this money as our lodging fee for staying here for one night!"

Seeing how polite the two men were, the man quickly declined, saying, "Young men, there's no need to be so polite. It was just a small favor for us."

However, Ye Wuhen insisted on giving the man the silver ingot, and in the end, the man had no choice but to accept it!

The man then called his wife to boil a pot of hot water for them to wash up. After a flurry of activity, the two finally lay down on the bed.

Looking at the rain outside, Ye Wuhen said, "I hope this rain can cover our tracks."

Ye Jinxuan responded softly. He was very tired and just wanted to sleep. "Okay, let's sleep. We'll talk about everything tomorrow!"
