After the stone gate was lowered, Cheng Ying and Yu Jianshe immediately organized investigators to go ahead and scout the situation.

The remaining team members also found a place to quickly replenish their energy. After Cheng Ying and Yu Jianshe found a secluded spot, everyone took out their dry rations and water and started eating.

Just as everyone was eating quietly, a series of chaotic footsteps suddenly came from afar.

Yu Jianshe raised his head warily, signaling everyone to be quiet and prepare for battle.

Cheng Ying gripped the gun tightly and cautiously peeked out to investigate.

A group of people dressed in strange clothes were walking towards them; their attire suggested they were local bandits.

The bandits had clearly not yet spotted them; they were simply searching around for something.

Cheng Ying recalled the beggar who had run away when they were locked in that abandoned house when they first arrived. It seemed that he was the one who notified the bandits, and these bandits must have come to search for them.

Cheng Ying whispered to Jianshe, "We'll try to avoid it, but if that doesn't work, we'll have to fight it head-on."

Yu Jianshe nodded in agreement. However, just as they were preparing to leave quietly, one of the scouts accidentally knocked over a rock.

The sound caught the attention of the bandits, who immediately went on alert and shouted, "Who is it? Come out!"

Knowing there was no way to avoid it, Cheng Ying stood up and shouted, "We are just travelers passing through this place and have no ill intentions."

But the bandit leader sneered, "I don't care who you are. Since you're passing through our territory, hand over all your valuables."

Faced with the bandits' provocation, the team members raised their weapons, and the atmosphere immediately became tense.

A fierce battle was about to break out. Cheng Ying glanced at the group of bandits opposite her and saw that there were not many of them, only a little over a hundred. Cheng Ying decided to subdue them.

Cheng Ying approached again without changing her expression. "What's wrong with women? I'm their boss, so of course I'm the one to talk to you."

Just as the bandits were about to say something, they found themselves speechless, and when they tried to raise their hands to teach the other a lesson, they couldn't lift them either.

Immediately, everyone was terrified. At that moment, Cheng Ying waved her hand, and Yu Jianshe, who was next to her, immediately shouted to the team members, "Everyone, attack together! Don't fire!"

Upon hearing that they couldn't fire, all the team members drew their daggers and knives and charged forward. However, when they had dispatched their opponents as easily as chopping melons, the opponents didn't even flinch.

The group tied up the two surviving bandits and brought them to Cheng Ying. The two bandits' eyes were filled with fear, and their bodies were trembling.

Cheng Ying crouched down and asked softly but authoritatively, "Where is your bandit hideout?"

One of the bandits stammered, "Big...Big Sister, please don't kill me. I'm in the cave behind the valley ahead."

Another bandit quickly added, "As long as you don't hurt us, we'll tell you everything."

Cheng Ying stood up and asked again, "How many people are in the bandit's den on the mountain?"

One of the bandits said, "A little over sixty thousand, but less than seventy thousand."

Upon hearing this number, everyone gasped in shock. These bandits were too audacious, managing to gather so many people here.

Cheng Ying then asked, "Which other families do you have connections with, along with the local officials down the mountain?"

"I only know that I have connections with the county magistrate down the mountain and two old families, but I don't know anything else."

Seeing that they were relatively well-behaved, Cheng Ying said to Jianshe, "It seems we have to go back to the county, otherwise we won't have enough manpower right now."

Yu Jianshe nodded and said, "When we get back, we need to deal with the accomplices who are in contact with the bandits first, otherwise there will be endless troubles in the future."
