Wang Cheng said, "Just two days ago, we received some amazing news: 'It is said that the Japanese have found a gold mine in the northeast direction outside the city!'" Wang Cheng's tone revealed excitement.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Ying's eyes widened, and a look of surprise appeared on her face.

“This gold mine is enormous. If the Japanese get their hands on it, the consequences will be unimaginable,” Wang Cheng continued.

“Then we must take action!” Cheng Ying said.

Wang Cheng nodded, a determined glint in his eyes: "That's right, we can't let the Japanese succeed. This is our country, and we must protect it! The conflict with the Japanese happened earlier, just to verify if the news was true."

After listening, Cheng Ying nodded. Understanding the reason, she looked outside and saw that it was almost dawn. She decided to rest for a while and deal with other matters after daybreak.

Cheng Ying asked Wang Cheng to find her a place to rest here, and then she took a nap.

After dawn, around seven or eight o'clock, Cheng Ying got up. She observed the surrounding environment and realized that although the temple was small, it had everything she needed. There was nothing superfluous, but everything that was necessary was prepared: food, drink, tables, chairs, and even a radio for transmitting messages.

Just as Cheng Ying was observing, she saw that Wang Cheng had already prepared some simple food and called her to eat. Cheng Ying came to the table and saw two dishes, a soup, and some flatbread.

Wang Cheng, feeling embarrassed, scratched his head and said, "Comrade Cheng, please eat something. There's nothing good to eat, and I'm really sorry for not being able to entertain you properly."

Cheng Ying said, "It's okay, this is fine!"

A short while later, Wang Cheng helped Li Zhengyuan over.

Li Zhengyuan saw Cheng Ying eating and greeted her, "Good morning, Comrade Cheng."

Cheng Ying greeted him with a smile, "Good morning, Captain Li!"

After the group ate their meal in silence, Li Zhengyuan asked Cheng Ying about her plans. Cheng Ying replied, "I want to go and investigate the place that traitor mentioned yesterday."

Captain Li frowned and said, "It's too dangerous for you to go alone. Why don't you let Wang Cheng go with you? That way, you'll have someone to help if anything happens."

Cheng Ying thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "Then I'll have to trouble Comrade Wang!"

Wang Cheng, who was standing nearby, immediately said, "No trouble at all. We are all revolutionary comrades fighting for the revolution, and it is only right that we help each other."

So the two of them went out to that address, and they looked at the house from the corner. The door of that family was tightly closed.

There was no one guarding outside. Wang Cheng said to Cheng Ying, "Comrade Cheng, you see, this should be the house with the door closed."

Cheng Ying nodded, looking at the tightly closed door; nothing could be seen from the outside. After they walked around the alley again, they discovered a back door at the back of the courtyard.

Wang Cheng said, "Comrade Cheng, it looks like we'll have to each guard one side. I wonder which gate these bastards will use if they go out on business!"

Cheng Ying said, "I think they're more likely to come in and out through the back door if something happens, because what they're doing isn't exactly honorable. They'd rather not attract attention."

Wang Cheng thought for a moment and nodded in agreement with Cheng Ying's statement. As the two were talking, they saw two people sneaking out of the back door. They first peeked out to check if anyone was there before quickly coming out of the door and then closing it behind them.

Cheng Ying and Wang Cheng quickly hid! After the two men came out, they walked outside. Wang Cheng said, "Comrade Cheng, what do we do now? I'll go and follow them to see where they went. Comrade Cheng, you wait here. Don't act rashly if anything happens. Wait for me to come back."

Cheng Ying nodded to him, and Wang Cheng followed the two men out. Wang Cheng followed the two men to a secluded alley. The two men looked around and then went into a dilapidated house.

Wang Cheng cautiously approached the house, trying to hear the conversation inside. Just as he reached the window, he suddenly heard a scream from inside.

Wang Cheng was startled. He kicked open the door and rushed inside. He saw several men in black in the room, and the bodies of the two men from earlier lying on the floor.

Upon seeing this, the men in black immediately pounced on Wang Cheng. Wang Cheng dodged the attack and engaged in a fierce battle with the men in black.

After exchanging a few blows with the man in black, Wang Cheng realized that his opponent was not easy to deal with. In fact, he was only relying on some simple kung fu he had learned from his father when he was young. This time, he was afraid he was going to be defeated. He was too impulsive today and should not have rushed in recklessly!

Meanwhile, Cheng Ying, who had remained where she was, grew increasingly anxious as Wang Cheng's return remained elusive. She decided to proceed with her original plan and secretly sneak into the house to check on the situation.

Cheng Ying entered the house invisibly and looked around. It was a small courtyard with many rooms. Cheng Ying explored each room one by one. The room next to it was the kitchen, and next to it was a place with many tables and chairs, probably the dining area.

Next were two sleeping areas. Cheng Ying saw five or six people lying in one of the rooms, fast asleep. It seemed they had done something during the night and were catching up on sleep during the day.

Cheng Ying didn't touch them for the time being. Then she looked at the two rooms behind her. One of them was a storage room, and in the other room, two people were talking about something. She could only hear that they were speaking Japanese.

Cheng Ying took out her translator and saw that it said, "Why haven't the people who chased those two agents back yet? Did something happen to them?"

Another person shook his head and said, "There are so many of them, they should be fine. At most, they might have gone a little too far. Let's wait a bit longer!"

Hearing this, Cheng Ying knew who they were talking about. Then she heard someone say, "I just told the brothers to go to the contact point to report to the higher-ups. I wonder what kind of mission they'll bring. I've had enough of this life. I hope we can finish the mission assigned by the higher-ups as soon as possible and go back home!"

Upon hearing this, Cheng Ying guessed that they were probably the two people who had just gone out. She thought, "Wang Cheng went along too; he can't be in any danger. After all, the people they're meeting must be powerful figures sent down from above." The more Cheng Ying thought about it, the more anxious she became.
