This man, Wang Bo, was a guerrilla fighter who had formed a group to resist the Japanese invasion. Their homes had been destroyed by the Japanese, and they were filled with righteous indignation, wanting to fight the Japanese to the death. However, they were outnumbered and couldn't take down many Japanese soldiers. So, he and his leader, Zhang Guodong, organized a group of people to fight the Japanese.

They had originally wanted to join some larger organizations, but hesitated because they were afraid others wouldn't trust them. They came because they heard the guerrilla team had brought back a new batch of supplies and learned they would be storing them in this house, so they planned to steal some that night. However, after their leader, Zhang Guodong, led his gang inside, they lost contact and never came out, leaving them unsure what to do.

Wang Bo paced anxiously, deciding they couldn't sit idly by any longer; they had to take action.

"Sixth Brother, Eldest Brother, which of you is willing to come with me to take a look? The situation is unclear right now, we need to find out what's going on. What's wrong with the eldest brother and the others?"

"Wang Bo, I'm willing to go with you."

Xiao Liu and Da Lang spoke together, and the other brothers followed suit.

"Wang Bo, we're all willing to go."

Wang Bo looked at his brothers, his eyes glistening with tears. He couldn't help but wipe them away with his sleeve, and said through gritted teeth.

"I don't know what will happen when we go in, but there's one thing you must remember: you must never kill any members of the armed forces who are fighting the Japanese like us. We're here to steal food and supplies because we're desperate. Got it?"

"We remember, we all remember."

After overhearing their conversation, Cheng Ying felt a pang of reluctance to harm them. "Alright, let's go." Wang Bo led his men cautiously into the house. It was eerily quiet inside, filled with a strange atmosphere.

They walked quietly to a room. Pushing open the door, they were stunned by what they saw—Zhang Guodong and his brothers were tied to chairs, unconscious.

"Boss!" Wang Bo rushed forward, trying to untie the ropes. Just then, a voice came from the darkness: "You've finally arrived."

A figure slowly emerged; Cheng Ying stood before them, pistol in hand. "Do you think things here are so easy to take?" she said with a sneer.

Wang Bo stared wide-eyed at Cheng Ying, seething with anger. "Why are you treating us like this? We're just trying to survive!"

Cheng Ying remained silent for a moment, a glint of light flashing in her eyes.

“You can’t steal the supplies we worked so hard to get from the Japanese for survival. After all, we are all compatriots and Chinese. If you’re going to steal, you should steal from those Japanese. That way, the Japanese won’t have any supplies, and there’ll be no reason for them to live here. It will be much easier for us to drive them out.”

"I didn't mean to make things difficult for you. This was all a setup to deal with those Japanese devils. Look over there." Cheng Ying pointed to a dozen or so Japanese soldiers who were tied up.

"These dozen or so men are Japanese soldiers sent by the Japanese army. They came to seize this batch of supplies, but I didn't know you would come too. How did you get the information? How did you know we had a batch of supplies to store here?"

Wang Bo and the others exchanged glances and said, "We heard about this from a rumor. He said you intercepted a batch of supplies from the Japanese army at the Jintang Railway. We're just here to try our luck and see if we can get some back from you." Cheng Ying was speechless.

Wang Bo said, "We don't want to be your enemies. We never intended to harm any of your soldiers from the beginning because we all know that we share a common goal: to defeat the Japanese devils and drive them out of our country, and to avenge our fallen compatriots. That's why we've gathered so many people together. We're also trying every possible way to get food and supplies because we can't support so many people. To protect our families, we must survive!"

When Cheng Ying heard Wang Bo say this, she fell silent.

"I'm giving you a chance, so let's see if you can seize it. It's about bringing your brothers and joining us. Once you join, at least you won't have to worry about food, drink, or anything else. What do you think?" Cheng Ying thought for a moment, then looked at Wang Bo and said.

“I can give you time to consider. But I must remind you that our team is organized and disciplined, and not just anyone can join. If you decide to join, you must abide by our rules.”

Wang Bo nodded, indicating that he understood.

Cheng Ying continued, "There's another point. This operation is meticulously planned. Our goal is not only to obtain these supplies, but also to demoralize the Japanese army. Therefore, we hope you can cooperate with our operation."

Wang Bo hesitated for a moment, but ultimately agreed to Cheng Ying's request. As for his older brother, he would explain it to him when he woke up, since his brother shared the same opinion!

And so, Wang Bo led his brothers to join Cheng Ying's team. They would fight side by side, striving to defend their motherland.
