Chapter 85 Traces of the Vampire Clan (Part 2)
A chilling mist slowly spread through the sealed room, silent and ghostly, as if it would devour everything. Darkness, like thick ink, tightly enveloped the room.
A few dim lights flickered, their faint light illuminating the target that Cain and Yang Yuhuan were searching for.
A boy and a girl, who looked to be around twelve years old, lay quietly on an ice bed, their faces serene, yet exuding an eerie stillness. Their pale skin radiated a deathly gray, devoid of any vitality.
Around the feet of the ice bed, shockingly dark red blood flowed freely, and there were piles of white bones, so white that they even shone faintly in the dim light, as if telling of endless pain and despair. Every scene revealed a sinister and eerie atmosphere.
It's no wonder that Cain and Yang Yuhuan's expressions changed, just as Cain had thought, albeit with some differences.
—What's hidden here are people, but they're dead!
All that's here is—dead people and their skeletons!
"Since you're here, don't leave, stay!"
The moment the fierce voice fell, a claw reached for the back of Cain's head. A sharp, hook-like claw swiftly and unexpectedly lunged at the back of Cain's head.
Cain reacted instantly, bending down to dodge the claw, kicking backward, and using the rebound to grab Yang Yuhuan, thus creating distance between himself and the man.
"It's you!" Cain exclaimed in surprise when he saw the person in the shadows.
“Wang Wu.” Yang Yuhuan’s voice was solemn and low, full of vigilance.
It was indeed Wang Wu, but at this moment he looked extremely terrifying and unfamiliar.
His hair was disheveled, the messy strands dancing wildly like a madman, his eyes were bloodshot, and his mouth was full of sharp teeth that gleamed with a cold light. One of his hands was wearing a strangely made bright silver glove. Cain felt somewhat familiar with him. Although his honest and kind appearance had disappeared, upon closer inspection, he could still see the shadow of Wang Wu in him. His back blocked the light that was coming in and blocked the entrance passage.
"You really are well hidden; Pei Qinhu and Ali couldn't even catch you." Cain said, his back to the ice bed, pointing his sword at Wang Wu.
"Hehe, I didn't expect it to be you. We really are destined to meet, Cain." A dangerous smile appeared on Wang Wu's twisted face, his eyes fixed on Cain.
"Those two people you mentioned are your accomplices, right? They've been held back by Young Master Zhang. Now I'll deal with you scurrying rats. Who told you to see what you shouldn't have?" Wang Wu's voice was filled with cruelty.
……
"These unconscious people were made by Sister Yuhuan, right? Then let's hurry and find Wang Wu." No sooner had Cain left than Gongsun Li and Pei Qinhu arrived.
"There are two people in this room."
Pei Qinhu glanced at the tightly closed door. He could hear soft rustling sounds coming from inside, as if something was stirring in the shadows.
"Should we just go in and knock them out?" Pei Qinhu rubbed his hands together, eager to try.
“That’s right. I’ve already secretly informed the people from the Dali Temple. They’ll be here soon. Once Cain and Yang Yuhuan find the missing person, they’ll catch him red-handed, and his good days will be over. In public, no connections will matter!” Sun Li said confidently.
"Then get ready—" Pei Qinhu said, taking a deep breath, gathering his energy, and tensing all his muscles, ready to launch an attack at any moment.
"boom!"
Inside the room, a massive figure suddenly smashed through the door, like a moving mountain, rushing straight towards Pei Qinhu with a gust of wind.
"Watch out!" Gongsun Li exclaimed, quickly waving her red umbrella and rushing to help.
The two instantly engaged in a fierce battle with the behemoth, unaware that another figure had quietly vanished from a corner.
……
"Is that Young Master Zhang your subordinate? He actually managed to hold off Pei Qinhu and Gongsun Li all by himself." Cain's eyes flashed like lightning as he stared intently at Wang Wu.
"We're just in a business relationship. After all, we're among the few of our kind here, so we need to look out for each other," Wang Wu said with a cold laugh that sent chills down one's spine.
"You're not human anymore, are you?" Cain suddenly said. Although it was a question, Cain's tone was extremely certain.
“That’s right. In this short life, I’ve learned a lot. A life of wealth is too boring. Humans are too fragile, too foolish and insignificant. The more you cling to something, the deeper you sink without realizing it. So I’m not going to be human anymore, Cain! Die!”
As soon as Wang Wu finished speaking, he pounced on Cain like a bolt of lightning. His bright silver gloves exuded an evil aura, as if they could devour everything and endlessly consume it.
"Hmph, you're too slow." Cain dodged Wang Wu's attack with a swift and graceful movement.
"I am no match for you now, so you have never been my target."
Taking advantage of the situation, Wang Wu pounced on the two corpses on the ice bed, his sharp teeth biting like a wild beast. Blood splattered everywhere, like blooming crimson flowers, staining the ground. Wang Wu's ugly, man-eating behavior was fully exposed.
"What?!" Yang Yuhuan was shocked and hurriedly plucked the strings of her zither, sending out a sonic attack, but it was too late. The zither missed its target, leaving only a blur.
"Hahahaha, flesh and blood, delicious flesh and blood, more, I want more—"
Wang Wu grinned maliciously, his voice sounding like a demon from hell. Suddenly, the bright silver glove burst into a scarlet light, and most of the blood rushed into the glove like a tide. It seemed to be alive, constantly sucking up the blood, and one could faintly hear something chewing, which was terrifying.
Zi-O-5's appearance began to undergo an astonishing change. Sharp, long ears emerged from his hair, his dark red hair was like a burning flame, his ashen skin was like rotten tree bark, and his muscular build seemed to be forged from steel.
It wasn't some nobleman's supposed peculiar fetish; these two corpses were actually his food. No wonder he used an ice bed and claimed they were fresh. To taste them was to actually eat people. It seems the people he abducted will never return. In this state... does such an inhuman being still be hiding in Chang'an?
Cain pondered this in his mind.
The bright silver gloves emitted an eerie red light, deeply influencing Wang Wu. While consuming blood, they also granted him immense power. The process of consuming and regenerating occurred in a strange and terrifying way.
"This is—the Blood Demon's Wrath?!"
Cain finally remembered the name of the gloves Wang Wu was wearing—equipment from a game. He never expected them to reappear in reality in such a bloody and terrifying way.
If one can wield the Blood Demon's Wrath and perfectly match its power, then Wang Wu's true identity is obvious.
"You're a vampire? I thought you'd choose to be a better race." Cain's tone was full of sarcasm.
"I didn't expect you to know. It seems I can't let you leave alive. That's right, it's the vampires, or rather, I've become a messenger of hell."
Wang Wu ignored Cain's mockery. He had already devoured the last bit of flesh and blood of the "food" on the ice bed. The Blood Demon's Wrath had dimmed its light, like a demon that had temporarily fallen asleep.
"Hell?" Cain heard a word that bothered him and pressed for an answer:
What is this hell you're talking about?
“Hell is hell. Humans like you can’t get there. You’ll be drained in no time, hahaha…” Wang Wu laughed wildly, his voice echoing in the secret room, full of madness and evil.
"This powerful body, the immense power surging within, and the thrill of devouring flesh and blood—"
Wang Wu curiously observed his drastically changed body, a ferocious expression of ecstasy and satisfaction on his face.
"I'm having such a blast! Hahahaha!" Wang Wu laughed wildly, digging his temple with his sharp index finger, displaying his inhuman nature.
"These are not enough to deal with you, so come on, Bloodrage!"
The Blood Demon's Fury unleashed its crimson energy once more, threatening to stain the entire secret chamber blood-red. Wang Wu's muscles bulged, veins popped, and his power amplified exponentially. He roared furiously, his eyes completely devoid of clarity, now covered in a bloodthirsty crimson. He had become a monster driven mad by bloodlust.
"Roar! Blood, I want more blood!" Wang Wu roared, like a mad beast, rampaging and grabbing at Cain.
Cain blocked with his sword, the sound of the sword ringing out resounding through the secret chamber.
"With such increased power, speed, and defense, Blood Demon's Fury is even more formidable than I imagined."
Cain was somewhat surprised that Blood Demon's Wrath could actually raise Wang Wu, who was only level 8, to level 13.
"How long can you sustain power at the cost of your life?" Cain scoffed disdainfully.
"Armor, combine!"
Deflecting Wang Wu's frenzied attacks, Cain's demonic armor materialized. The hard armor condensed into shape with the faint, misty energy, its sharp edges and wide blades exuding an imposing aura, making him resemble a war god.
