Chapter 34 Feelings
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, Cain has been stationed at the Great Wall for three whole months. During these three months, he and his comrades, including Shen Mengxi, have gone through tough training together. They encourage and help each other, grow and progress together, and sometimes talk about their past experiences. Everyone has completely accepted Cain.
Besides daily training, Cain often sparred with Mulan. As one of the best in the Great Wall Guards, she was highly skilled and agile. In each sparring session, the two gained valuable insights, improved their skills, and appreciated each other more. Their sparring was not only a contest of skills but also an exchange of emotions. With each exchange, their understanding of each other deepened, and their relationship grew stronger.
Although the days at the Great Wall were full of hardships, Cain felt incredibly fulfilled and happy because he had a group of comrades who shared life and death with him, as well as Mulan, whom he admired greatly.
"Swish..."
The sound of running water came from the barracks. Taking a shower after training is the most refreshing thing. When you are in a good mood, you want to sing a song.
"Mmm, mmm, I love taking a bath, my skin feels so good lalalala... scrub scrub, scrub scrub, tutututu..." accompanied by a series of songs, the voice is pleasant, but the lyrics are a bit cheesy, making people laugh.
In the hazy mist, one can vaguely see a figure with long silver hair, a slender body, and fair skin that is faintly visible through the haze. It is enchanting and alluring, with a unique kind of seduction that would captivate anyone. It is a figure that appeals to men, women, young and old alike, but unfortunately, no one appreciates it.
"Mmm, a shower feels so good." Cain turned off the tap, shook his hair, picked up a towel hanging on the wall, wrapped it around his waist, and walked out of the bathroom.
"The treatment of the Great Wall Guards is not bad, and the food is good too, even though they face life and death every day," Cain remarked after a while.
"The food is a bit monotonous. Ah, when is Baili Shouyue coming? I really want to try the chef's cooking from the Great Wall Guard."
"Bang!" The door was suddenly kicked open.
"Cain, we have a mission. It seems to be bandits. I'll take you out to fight them..." The valiant Mulan walked in, but she was only halfway through her sentence when she saw Cain's lower body covered only by a bath towel. She paused for a moment and then turned around.
"You just finished showering?" Mulan said, her ears slightly red as she carried Cain on her back. Images of Cain emerging from his bath kept flashing through her mind; he was getting a good workout.
“Yeah, and girls shouldn’t be so rough. They should be ladylike, you know? My poor little door.” Cain said as he put on his clothes.
"I'm just used to it," Mulan retorted.
"Get dressed."
Mulan turned around and looked Cain up and down carefully.
"Mulan, what's wrong?" Cain looked at Mulan. At this moment, her face was rosy, and she had a unique feminine charm that was captivating. Only at this moment could one realize that she was a woman.
"No, nothing, I just wanted to say you have a great figure." Mulan patted Cain's broad shoulder.
"Thank you for the compliment."
"By the way, what did you want from me just now?" Cain asked.
"Oh, a group of bandits has attacked the village again. I had to go check it out, so I came to call you." Mulan then remembered the main topic and put aside her other emotions.
"Yes, I understand. Then, beautiful lady, I am willing to fight alongside you. Please."
Cain suddenly became interested as he watched Mulan transform back into a warrior. He gave a graceful, slight bow, extended a hand, and looked at Mulan with a smile.
Mulan looked at the elegant and poised Cain before her, his gentle and deep eyes seeming to hold only her. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, her face flushed, and she felt a surge of excitement.
Then, awkwardly mimicking the mannerisms of a noble lady he had seen before, he extended a hand and placed it in Cain's hand.
"Joy, extreme joy."
"Pfft." Cain couldn't help but chuckle as he watched the tomboy Mulan turn into a clumsy, lovesick young girl, making countless mistakes and acting awkwardly and adorably.
"What are you laughing at?" Mulan's face darkened. "I'm just trying to play along with your act, and you're still laughing?"
"Um, no, nothing, I was just thinking about something happy." Cain tried his best to suppress the wildly upturned corners of his mouth.
"What's the good news?" Mulan stared coldly at Cain, whose lips were twitching.
"Pfft." Cain was about to speak when he let out another laugh.
"Are you still laughing?" Mulan elbowed Cain in the chest.
"Ahem, Miss Mulan, I have undergone rigorous training. No matter how funny something is, I will not laugh unless I can't help it."
Cain coughed to appear serious, but his constantly twitching eyebrows betrayed him.
"Damn it..." Seeing Cain's desperate attempt to suppress his anger, Mulan seemed to sense some kind of malice. Veins bulged on her forehead, and her face turned ugly. If Cain said another rude thing, she would definitely use the excuse of unfair sparring to save face.
"Look, there's a Shen Mengxi flying in the sky!" Sensing Mulan's anger, Cain broke out in a cold sweat and quickly pointed behind Mulan.
Shen Mengxi can fly?
Seeing Cain's serious expression, Mulan turned her head with a question in her mind, only to find a clear blue sky with a few clouds drifting by.
When I turned around again, I found that Cain had already run away in a flash.
"Ugh, damn it, Cain, you stop right there!" Mulan laughed angrily, raised her greatsword, and ran towards Cain.
"I was wrong, I was wrong, Mulan."
……
"Hahaha, brothers, hurry up and grab as much as you can before those guys arrive!" A masked man on horseback shouted, holding up his scimitar.
Before him lay a scene of chaos, with bandits running rampant, robbing people of their property and abducting innocent young women, while people huddled in corners, trembling with fear.
"Hehehe, little beauty, just give in to me~" A lewd bandit cornered a girl against the wall and chuckled evilly.
"No, no, go away!" the girl cried out repeatedly.
"Go ahead and scream, the more you scream, the more excited I get, hehehehe." The lewd bandit licked his lips and reached for the girl.
"Aaaaaah!" The girl screamed in terror, her eyes closed.
But after a long time, nothing happened. She opened her eyes in confusion and saw that the lewd bandit had fallen to the ground and died, with a blue dart stuck in his back.
She saw two red and blue figures weaving among the bandits ahead.
"That phoenix pattern means the Great Wall Guards are here!" The masked man, looking at the insignia on Cain's uniform, shouted to those around him, "Retreat!"
Upon hearing the masked man's shout, the other bandits grabbed what they were carrying, jumped onto their horses, and galloped away, leaving behind a scene of chaos.
"You stay here!" Cain watched the masked man flee on horseback, leaped up, and with a horizontal strike of his blade, severed the horse's hind hoof, sending the masked man sprawling.
He was about to stand up when suddenly the cold blade of a sword touched his neck. The masked man's hair stood on end, and he dared not move, begging for mercy, "Hero, spare my life! Hero, spare my life!"
"Well done, Cain. This is one of the bandits' minor leaders, right? He should know some useful information." Mulan, having dealt with the other henchmen, came to Cain's side.
Whoosh whoosh!
Suddenly, several sharp arrows whistled past at great speed, aiming at Mulan's unsuspecting back, but Mulan did not react at all.
"Watch out!" Cain quickly flipped his blade, pulled Mulan over, and used a sword strike to break the arrow in two.
"Go!" A cold voice rang out from behind him.
Looking back, they saw Lanling Wang suddenly appear, grab the masked man, and throw him onto a horse. The horse was startled and ran forward at full speed.
Mulan tried to stop him, but Lanling Wang swiftly threw a flying knife. Cain raised his sword to block it, and in that instant, Lanling Wang quickly escaped and disappeared, his horse also galloping away.
"Mulan, are you alright?" Cain asked.
"It's nothing, that guy just got away," Mulan said regretfully, looking at the mess on the ground.
“Those bandits are greedy for wealth; they’ll come back sooner or later,” Cain reassured him.
"Indeed, these bandits want money but don't do any legitimate business, so they resort to robbery, and they bully the weak and fear the strong."
"These bandits will only bring disaster to the people!"
The two analyzed the situation one by one and reached a tacit understanding.
