Chapter 17 King's Canyon

One of the Twelve Wonders – King's Canyon.

Located in a treacherous plateau region, it is the only passage connecting the western and eastern worlds of the King's Continent. It is the westernmost point that the strongest power on the continent, led by Empress Wu Zetian, can reach. Known for its easy defense and difficult attack, it has been a strategically important location that has been repeatedly contested. Using mechanical arts, a solid fortress has been built on the ruins of the past, along with special devices and magic arrays. Traces of demonic activity still remain in the treacherous wilderness.

It was born from the ultimate weapons of the gods—the Azure Wolf and the Blue Giant. They were like the gods' left and right hands, one creating and the other destroying. Although the great war of the gods, which was triggered by internal strife, caused these two great beings to fight to the death, their bodies have nourished the creatures of this canyon for countless years. King's Canyon, which draws on the life essence of the gods' ultimate creation, has thus become a miracle. It contains unknown and mysterious power, but no one has ever been able to find it.

The entire King's Canyon, viewed from above, is less like a canyon and more like a square magic circle or a chessboard. Based on the mysterious power displayed by King's Canyon, Heluo has specially developed a realistic simulation battle to train soldiers in squads of five. It is said that in addition to the soldiers guarding the canyon, the empire often sends a group of carefully selected soldiers to train here.

According to merchants returning from the East, there is a magical magnetic field space in the King's Canyon. It is said that even the Grandmaster Mozi studied it for several days and was asked by the Empire to develop a spatial connection and teleportation device. However, the connection only connects to the Protectorate and a certain place on the Great Wall, and there are one or two other unknown places.

After traveling for more than ten days, Cain finally arrived here. He did not take the sea route, and he had not yet officially reached the King's Canyon. This was only the outermost edge of the plateau area where the King's Canyon was located.

Cain looked at the deep, towering valley and the continuous mountain range, which inspired both longing and fear, because no one knew what was inside or what they might encounter. Apart from a specially opened passage, few people, even the Heluo Empire, knew the secrets of this canyon. No one who dared to venture into its depths had ever returned.

Cain took a deep breath to calm himself, then walked into the only passage that had been cleared.

Walking on the white brick path, with the deep green trees stretching out beside you, their dense foliage blocking out the light, you can't tell whether you're heading to heaven or an abyss. You can only push them aside and move forward step by step.

"Huchi..."

Suddenly, Cain heard a tremendous sound, like the breathing of a living being, a loud snoring.

He immediately stopped and listened carefully.

"Huff...huff...huff..."

There are huge creatures resting nearby.

Cain understood. He slowed his pace and cautiously observed his surroundings.

As he pushed aside the branches and leaves, he moved forward. After pushing aside another branch, a huge head suddenly appeared in front of Cain.

Cain froze immediately. It was a dragon-shaped demon, its body hidden by lush foliage, with only its head visible. However, its head, which was over three meters tall, suggested how large its body was.

Its head was covered in black and red scales, and it had a pair of orange-red, crystal-like dragon horns. Hot streams of air spewed from its huge nostrils. The leaves around it swayed with each exhale and exhale. With its heavy eyelids closed, it lay down comfortably on the white brick path that Cain was about to take to rest.

I never expected to find a dragon-like demon in the canyon. It's sleeping. As long as I don't disturb it, I can pass through safely.

Thinking this, Cain dared not disturb it any further, and held his breath, trying to get around it.

Boom!

Kane felt a sudden throbbing in his heart.

The urge to kill followed, stronger and more destructive than ever before, like a wild beast breaking free of its cage.

Damn it, why did it have to happen at this time!

Cain clutched his head in frustration, struggling to fight off his bloodlust.

Blue, crystalline lines began to intertwine before his eyes, and a haze of slaughter began to press down on his brain. Cain's body trembled incessantly, and he broke tree branches as he moved slowly.

"Click——"

"call……?"

The dragon demon seemed to have heard Cain's movements. It slowly opened its lazy, scarlet eyes and looked at the strangely trembling human in front of it with a puzzled expression.

At this moment, the desire to kill had taken over Cain's mind. He raised his eyes, which were now intertwined with blue lines, and unleashed a torrent of killing intent as he swung his sword at the black and red dragon.

The dragon demon sensed the hostility emanating from Cain's eyes, and its own eyes flashed with ferocity as it raised its massive head.

Cain's attack missed, and the blade fell to the ground, scattering a large amount of gravel and creating a crack more than a meter long.

"Roar!!"

The dragon demon raised its head and roared to the sky, spreading its huge black and red wings. Instantly, all obstacles around it were destroyed, revealing its massive body.

Its entire body was covered in hard, black and red scales that reflected the sunlight. Its strong body had huge, orange-red crystal-like spikes on its back, and its crystal claws were taut. Under its massive body, Cain looked like an ant.

At this moment, Cain, who was controlled by the killing intent, was not afraid. The power of killing filled his whole body. He stepped on several falling objects and leaped onto the back of the Crimson Crystal Black Dragon. Then he began to attack wildly with his sharp blade. However, the scales of the Crimson Crystal Black Dragon were extremely hard. Cain could only make white marks. But the huge shockwave generated by the collision of objects still made the Crimson Crystal Black Dragon feel pain.

"Kill! Kill!! Kill!!!"

Cain brandished his blade, roaring wildly. After relentlessly and rapidly attacking the same scale, the black and red scale quickly gave way and shattered. The blade pierced the flesh, and blood gushed out, splattering all over Cain. This further fueled Cain's killing intent, and he continued to thrust the blade in and out of the broken area.

"Roar!" The Crimson Crystal Black Dragon roared in pain, flapped its giant wings and flew into the sky, rolling around and trying to shake Cain off.

Because of the immense wind force generated by the flight, Cain could not grip the smooth scales of the Crimson Crystal Black Dragon and, after several leaps, tightly embraced the crimson crystal spikes on its tail.

The Crimson Crystal Black Dragon felt Kain gripping its tail and began wildly swinging its massive tail, performing various difficult maneuvers in the air in an attempt to shake Kain off.

Cain gripped the crystal spike tightly with one hand, and with the other hand, he swung a sharp blade at the crystal behind him, but the red crystal did not shatter; instead, it only trembled slightly.

"howl!!!"

The attack on its relatively vulnerable tail caused the Crimson Crystal Black Dragon to let out a strange howl. It opened its blood-red maw and spewed flames at Cain, who was holding its tail behind it. Then it flew high into the sky, circling continuously. Finally, it flicked its tail, and a small black dot disappeared further and further away in the sky.

Cain, scorched by the heat, couldn't help but let go. After a few rolls, he grabbed another crystal, but before he could get a firm grip, a strong gust of wind blew him away. The wind grew stronger and stronger, and his hand was blown away. He drifted off to who knows where.

"Roar!"

The Crimson Crystal Black Dragon roared, wanting to continue the pursuit, but found that it could no longer see Cain's figure, and his scent had also disappeared. It circled in the air for a long time, secretly memorizing the scent of the attacker, and would not tolerate it once it was discovered. The Crimson Crystal Black Dragon licked its tail with a look of tenderness, and then slowly flew into the depths of the valley.
