My sister is Luna
Chapter 128 Mirror
What is happiness? What does happiness feel like?
Yang Yuhuan didn't understand before. She had never felt this way before. She had joy and anger, sorrow and happiness, and fear and rage, but she had never experienced happiness. Yet, she longed to understand and to feel it.
But it was ultimately an unattainable fantasy, ethereal and unreal. What could possibly fill the void in her heart? That's what she thought back then.
But now, she doesn't think that way, because happiness is right in front of her. Yang Yuhuan plucks the strings of her zither, the music soothing, and smiles as she looks at the white-haired man listening.
One night on the road, as was the usual shift change, Milady was driving while she and Cain slept, separated by a curtain. As always, they closed their eyes and greeted the dawn. This mundane and repetitive daily routine suddenly took a strange turn.
As she slept, she felt a strange aura emanating from Cain, as if something was drawing her in. Her heart was pounding, pounding intensely, as if drawn by a magnet, drawn closer to another heart. Her heart was leaping with joy, cheering with delight.
The closeness of their hearts gave her a feeling she had never experienced before. It wasn't just happiness, but something even more intense than joy. Happiness, a word that had once seemed so distant, now welled up in her heart.
Looking at the sleeping Cain, Yang Yuhuan felt a strange emotion welling up inside her. She felt as if she had found happiness, and her heart was growing stronger.
In a world where the warm sunlight shines upon her, and the songs of paradise surround her, she feels a deep sense of contentment.
This was her happiness—Cain. Yang Yuhuan fell into a deep sleep holding Cain that night, only to be awakened by a start. But she didn't care. Being able to stay by this happiness and watch it quietly was enough for her. As long as he didn't abandon her, she would firmly embrace this happiness until death.
This is happiness, love, and a precious emotion she cherished throughout her life.
"Zheng..."
As the music ended and the sound of the zither faded, Yang Yuhuan slowly put down her pipa, bowed slightly in greeting, displaying her grace and elegance, a truly beautiful and peerless woman.
"Wow, Sister Yang Yuhuan is amazing! What beautiful music! I saw so many classmates in my magic class being completely captivated by it. You're sure to become the next campus idol. I wonder how the news agency will report on you. Amazing! Exquisite music!"
Recovering from her reverie, Xi Shi jumped up, her eyes filled with admiration, and exclaimed in praise.
"Not bad, not bad. Your piano skills are pretty good." Milady turned her head away and said somewhat awkwardly.
She had to admit to herself that Yang Yuhuan's zither skills were indeed superb and highly accomplished; every note played by her delicate fingers was truly enjoyable and captivating.
This is a formidable competitor! Milady was on high alert.
"Even the most beautiful music can't compare to this. In terms of musical skill, you are definitely number one, Yu Huan," Cain said with admiration.
"You're all joking. I still have a lot to improve on," Yang Yuhuan said with a modest smile.
“No, Teacher Cain is absolutely right. I have never heard such beautiful music in Xuan Yong.” A calm voice reached the ears of the four of them.
"You are... Jing?" Cain stood up as he looked at the newcomer.
“Yes, Professor Cain, I’ve come to ask you some questions,” Jing said calmly, standing ramrod straight. He got straight to the point.
“Of course, what would you like to ask?” Cain nodded knowingly.
"I'm not strong enough yet. I need to become stronger. My fighting spirit has stagnated. I need to break through. I need your guidance."
Jing looked at Cain seriously and said, his eyes filled with rational light, more like a robot making precise judgments.
"Oh? Of course." Cain nodded in agreement; he was still happy to teach a student with such ambition.
"I never expected Jing to come and ask Brother Cain for advice. It seems that Brother Cain's martial arts teaching is very successful." Xi Shi said in surprise as she looked at Cain and Jing.
"Do you know this person named Mirror?" Milady asked.
"She's a star student at our school, a cold and aloof goddess with incredible martial arts skills. They say she can control a broken magic mirror, which is quite impressive. She's one of the strongest contenders for the championship in this Dream of the Void competition," Xi Shi whispered in Milady's ear.
"Let's see your moves first, and I'll judge them one by one." Cain cleared a space, drew his sword, and looked at the mirror as he spoke.
"Yes."
As she spoke, a shattered mirror appeared behind her, like a peacock spreading its tail, shimmering with a faint, purplish-red glow, mysterious and captivating. In her right hand she held a sharp sword composed of countless broken prisms, her entire being exuding a sharp and piercing aura.
"..."
The two faced off, with Jing staring intently at Cain, not daring to relax for a moment. Cain, on the other hand, stood casually, as if he wasn't taking it seriously at all, but his body didn't reveal the slightest flaw. This was what made Jing nervous. Unable to find a weakness, she could only stare at Cain stiffly.
In the end, Jing couldn't hold back any longer and decided to strike first.
"Hey!" Mirror thrust straight forward, the sword aimed directly at Cain, the broken mirror behind him shifting and changing, following him like a shadow.
"Ding--"
A crisp sound rang out.
Cain raised his sword to block Jing's attack, the longsword snaking like a snake, pointing straight at her throat.
Jing's pupils contracted sharply as a lens blocked the sword strike for her, allowing her to instantly retreat and create distance before charging forward again.
"Click——"
A straight line suddenly split open, and as the mirror rushed towards Cain, the mirror fragments separated to form a circular array, and a figure exactly like her appeared on the opposite side.
"Ha!" The mirror and the figure moved in sync, the swords thrusting towards Cain one after the other.
“That’s a really interesting ability,” Cain said with interest.
Instead of waiting to die, he rushed towards Jing at an even faster speed, his blade as sharp as a dragon, deflecting her sword at a subtle angle.
The outcome was decided in an instant.
Looking at the long sword pressed against her neck, Jing was momentarily dazed.
She lost, and lost so completely, without any suspense.
"How should I put it? Your attacks are clear and determined, just like the moves I described, but they feel a bit stiff and lack adaptability, like this mirror."
Cain pondered for a moment, then tapped the glass sword in Jing's hand, producing a crisp "bang" sound.
"Combat awareness also seems to be becoming formalized. If an unexpected enemy appears, you may become confused and panicked because it is inconsistent with your combat awareness."
"Mirrors may seem hard, but they are fragile. However, this is also their advantage. The fragments can be used in many ways and can be combined to form new things. Although they have flaws, that is where their flexibility lies."
“Mirror, you need to think more, reflect more,” Cain said meaningfully.
