Parents' Love: My Childhood Sweethearts with Jiang Weidong

Chapter 8 What to do if the child is gone?

Looking at him, Liang Ping was momentarily unsure whether he was referring to a person or a location. Then, realizing how ridiculous he looked, he quickly straightened up and glared angrily at Jiang Weidong: "What are you doing? Are you going to hit me? Do you know who my father is?"

Lin Wangshu couldn't help but chuckle. She really wanted to ask if it was Zhang Erhe, but she feigned innocence and asked, "So you were born without a father? If you don't know his name, you should go back and ask your mother. Why are you asking us?"

A burst of snickers suddenly came from the surroundings; this little girl's mouth was too sharp.

Jiang Weidong couldn't help but smile, while Liang Ping felt his face burning. He only managed to say "I'll remember you" before fleeing in panic.

Lin Wangshu picked up a piece of braised pork and put it in her mouth. She looked at Jiang Weidong across from her and asked calmly, "Who do you think he remembered? It must be you. You scared him, didn't you?"

Jiang Weidong wanted to say, "You're the one who poisoned her!" He stared at Lin Wangshu and clicked his tongue, "Little Moon, I didn't realize you had poison on your lips."

Lin Wangshu wasn't angry. She chuckled and said in a low voice, "I can't apply poison, or what if it kills our child?"

Jiang Weidong almost choked on his food. He shoved the steamed bun into Lin Wangshu's mouth and said, "I give up. Can't you be a little ashamed? Eat your food quietly."

Seeing that he had admitted defeat, Lin Wangshu smugly picked up the steamed bun and started eating.

They couldn't return to Songshan Island today, so they decided to stay at Aunt An Xin's house for the night. Ouyang Yi was very hospitable when they arrived and told An Xin to quickly cook something nice for the two children. She even tried to get Jiang Weidong to have a few drinks with her, but Weidong quickly refused, saying he had to participate in the Air Force pilot recruitment in a few days and couldn't drink.

The next morning, when Ouyang Yi was about to go to work, An Xin saw them off at the dock, carrying many gifts for them.

After saying goodbye to An Xin, they took a leisurely boat ride back to Songshan Island. As soon as Lin Wangshu stepped off the boat, he felt the sea breeze on his face, stretched, and exclaimed, "Finally back! There's no place like home!"

The two were eager to get home and ran all the way back. Dehua was cooking when she heard them arrive. She grabbed a rolling pin and ran out. Knowing that Jiang Weidong was alright, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. Jiang Weidong smiled and hugged her, "Don't worry, Auntie, I'm fine. I'll definitely become a pilot!"

On the day of the recruitment, Lin Wangshu absentmindedly watered the flowers in the yard, waiting for Jiang Weidong to return. She didn't know if he would succeed, but she had done her best.

Finally, the door opened, and Jiang Weidong returned. Lin Wangshu quickly put down the kettle in her hand and looked at him expectantly. Seeing that there was no joy on his face, she felt uneasy and was thinking about how to comfort him.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Weidong suddenly ran towards her in a few strides, picked her up, spun her around, and shouted excitedly, "I was selected! I'm a pilot now!"

Lin Wangshu was initially startled, feeling as if the world was spinning, but upon hearing that he had been chosen, she happily hugged his neck, "Really! That's wonderful!"

Then Lin Wangshu felt a heat on her forehead and realized that Jiang Weidong had kissed her in his excitement. Lin Wangshu touched her forehead and stood there stunned for a moment, but her heart was quietly and uncontrollably beating faster.

Jiang Weidong seemed not to have reacted yet, but fortunately, Yafia Ning's voice came from behind him, "Second Brother, you were chosen? Really?"

"Of course it's true!"

Jiang Weidong excitedly ran over, hugged his two younger sisters and spun them around, then kissed each of them. In the end, even Weimin received a big hug.

Yafei wiped her face with disgust and commented, "Second Brother is so happy he's gone mad! Cheng Fanjin needs a slap from Dad to make him better."

Jiang Defu didn't hit him, but just laughed loudly a few times, patted Jiang Weidong's shoulder proudly, and said, "Good son, you've brought honor to your old man!"

Anjie was both happy and sad. She was sad because her eldest son hadn't come back for two years, and now she had to send another son away. But the children were growing up and would eventually have to leave.

Jiang Weidong was about to leave, and every day he waited for his father to call him to go shooting practice, or for An Jie to invite the whole family to take a family photo, but nothing happened. Finally, he couldn't help but ask, only to find out that they had no such plans at all. In the end, he was scolded by Jiang Defu, and on his way back to the house, he tripped and fell flat on his face.

Lin Wangshu noticed that Jiang Weidong was in a very low mood, and knew that he was upset that his parents didn't value him as much as they valued Jiang Weiguo, and that he was holding a grudge!

After thinking for a moment, Lin Wangshu took a photo and went into his room. Jiang Weidong was packing his things in a bad mood and ignored her when he saw her come in. Lin Wangshu gently placed the photo on his table. It was a photo of her and Jiang Weidong taken when Weiguo went to take a family photo years ago.

Jiang Weidong finally stopped what he was doing, picked up the photo, and asked her in a muffled voice, "Why did you give it to me again? She absolutely refused to give it to me back then."

"If you don't want it, just give it back to me." Lin Wangshu said, trying to take it from his hand, but Jiang Weidong quickly put it into his bag.

Seeing this, Lin Wangshu laughed and pulled up a stool to sit down. "I've only ever taken a picture with you. Big brother doesn't get that kind of treatment."

Jiang Weidong suddenly looked at her, his eyes serious and his tone earnest, "Does that mean that in your heart, I am more important than your older brother?"

Lin Wangshu blushed slightly, but still replied firmly, "Of course."

Jiang Weidong finally smiled, and at the same time, he didn't forget to say to Lin Wangshu, "In my heart, you are more important than my eldest brother."

Lin Wangshu shook his head helplessly and said with a smile, "Why would I compare this with my older brother?"

On the day of departure, at the dock, Jiang Weidong, carrying his luggage, suddenly hugged Lin Wangshu before boarding the ship and whispered in her ear, "Goodbye, Little Moon."

Then he left without looking back. Once on the ship, he went into the cabin and refused to come out. No matter how much his family on the shore called out to him, he just stood there with red eyes.

Anjie seemed to understand. She shouted at the boat, "Weidong, I'm sorry, Mom was wrong. When you come back, Mom will definitely take you to take a family photo."

An Jie, who hadn't cried on the day Jiang Weiguo left, was in tears. She finally realized Jiang Weidong's grievances. Seeing her child leave home with resentment, she felt both regret and heartache.

As Lin Wangshu watched the ship gradually sail away, feeling the warmth left by Jiang Weidong on her body slowly dissipate, tears finally flowed uncontrollably. She felt the pain of parting. She waved to the front of the road repeatedly, "Goodbye, Jiang Weidong!"
