Upon hearing this, An Jie trembled in fright, even in the middle of the day. "What nonsense are you talking about? There are no ghosts in the world!"

Although she said that, her body language betrayed her.

Anjie originally didn't believe in these things; as an intellectual, she thought they were all superstitions.

As the saying goes, one becomes like the company one keeps. Anjie and Dehua had lived together for over a decade, and they influenced each other, gradually growing closer to one another without realizing it.

Dehua became much more refined in his speech after learning from Anjie, and sometimes even more particular about hygiene than Anjie.

Anjie also learned a lot from Dehua, such as superstition.

Ever since that time when Anjie and Dehua secretly went to burn paper money, although they weren't caught in the end, she had actually come to believe in these superstitious things.

So when she heard Yafei say that, she was actually a little scared.

Yafei took a sip of water, swallowed the steamed bun that was stuck in her throat, and then walked over to Anjie to explain in detail.

But upon seeing Lin Wangshu sitting there, he swallowed back what he was about to say and changed the subject to tease her, "Big sister, the sun's already high in the sky, and you're finally willing to get up?"

Lin Wangshu felt guilty and, unusually, remained silent. An Jie, however, slapped her impatiently, "Keep talking! You're driving me crazy!"

"Oh, the old lady is curious? Don't be in a hurry, I'll tell you now."

Yafei pulled Anjie to sit down on the sofa, ready with a long speech, "This morning, on my way to morning exercises, I heard a group of people talking about gods and ghosts."

"I thought to myself, as a soldier, I have the duty and responsibility to stop them, so I went up and listened carefully."

Yafei had been building up the story for so long without getting to the point, and Anjie was getting impatient, patting her repeatedly, "Hey, stop rambling, what's going on?"

"I was just about to tell you!" Yafei said, clutching her thigh. "I only found out after listening that last night, many people heard someone singing. Apparently, it sounded terrible and was really scary!"

As Yafei spoke, she leaned closer to them, her voice lowering, looking mysterious. "They all say it's probably a female ghost making noise, scaring the children to tears. Some people mustered up the courage to go and see, and guess what?"

Lin Wangshu and An Jie were both startled. They gripped each other's arms tightly and silently moved a little closer together.

Lin Wangshu felt a tightness in her throat, swallowed hard, and asked in a trembling voice, "What's wrong?"

“Someone saw a half-dead female ghost floating in the air!” Yafei said slowly after looking at their expressions.

"Stop talking!" Anjie was so frightened that her heart pounded, and she covered her chest to stop Yafei from speaking.

Lin Wangshu quickly supported her, "Mom, don't be afraid, this is definitely someone playing tricks."

"This person is so shameless. Why is he wandering around at night instead of sleeping?"

Lin Wangshu couldn't remember anything she had done the night before, and was now angrily blaming the "ghost".

“I also think it’s fake. There are no ghosts in this world. You wait, I’m going to find the person who’s causing this trouble.”

Seeing how scared Anjie was, Yafei quickly comforted him, clenched her fists, and made up her mind.

"What are you talking about? Why isn't dinner served yet?"

Jiang Weidong, with his hands in his pockets, looked at them with a puzzled expression.

"It's nothing, just someone playing tricks," Yafi said casually, clearly indicating that she had been deliberately trying to scare them.

After listening to her finish speaking, Jiang Weidong's expression was indescribable, and he looked at the culprit with complicated eyes.

But they found that Lin Wangshu not only remained expressionless, but also angrily cursed, "This person is really boring. In this cold weather, he still comes out to dress up as a ghost and scare people."

Jiang Weidong almost burst out laughing when he saw her scolding him so seriously, but he quickly turned his head away and gritted his teeth to hold it in.

He was now genuinely looking forward to seeing how interesting Lin Wangshu's expression would be when she learned the truth.

"Maybe they didn't do it on purpose. Could they have had too much to drink?" Jiang Weidong stared at Lin Wangshu and said meaningfully.

Lin Wangshu was puzzled by his gaze. "Who knows? Anyway, we have to catch him and teach him a lesson."

Jiang Weidong was at a loss. This was the first time he had ever seen someone cry wolf, and the thief was so eager to do so, not even willing to cover for her.

Even Jiang Defu knew about this matter. It is said that someone reported it to him, but the story was much more absurd when it reached him. It seems that someone had exaggerated it.

Therefore, he didn't take it seriously, thinking it was just those teenagers being naughty and playing pranks on people when they had nothing better to do.

Jiang Weimin, however, hesitated and looked at his second brother. He remembered that Jiang Weidong had come back very late last night, and this matter should be related to him.

After noticing Jiang Weidong's suppressed laughter, Jiang Weimin was now certain, but he didn't intend to tell anyone. He glanced at his father and then silently lowered his head to eat.

After the meal, it was Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu's turn to clear the table and wash the dishes. In the kitchen, Jiang Weidong didn't say a word the whole time, but just looked at her meaningfully.

Lin Wangshu got angry. She felt uncomfortable being stared at. "Why are you staring at me like that? There's nothing on my face."

“I think this is the ‘female ghost’ from last night. She seems to have lost her memory,” Jiang Weidong said, leaning against the door frame with a smile on his lips.

"A female ghost? Me?" Lin Wangshu pointed at herself, looking at him in disbelief.

"Otherwise what? Didn't you drink too much last night and insist on running around like a madman for a walk? Why are you denying it today?"

Jiang Weidong's tone was quite resentful, clearly indicating that he had been tormented by her.

Lin Wangshu patted her head, only then realizing that she couldn't remember anything after taking her first sip of wine.

"Why didn't you stop me? It's so embarrassing!" Lin Wangshu believed that she must have blacked out, and covered her face in embarrassment.

It's a shame she was so angry and yelled so harshly; it turns out the culprit was herself.

Little did she know she was such a bad drinker. This was her first time drinking, and she blamed Jiang Weidong for it, Lin Wangshu complained to him with a straight face.

Jiang Weidong chuckled softly, unwilling to let her go. Instead, he approached her step by step, lowering his voice, "Me, stop me? I can't stop you, Little Moon. You were quite fierce last night."
