Parents' Love: My Childhood Sweethearts with Jiang Weidong

Chapter 6: Someone coming from the An family

Jiang Weiguo has been in the army for two years. Anjie often looks forward to his letters. A mother worries about her son even when he is thousands of miles away, let alone when he is on the dangerous front line.

Jiang Weiguo's letters to his parents and aunts always reported good news, but his letters to Weidong were filled with the smell of gunpowder from the front lines and his excitement at finally realizing his dream of fighting for his country. This made Jiang Weidong very envious; being a soldier who could fight was also his dream.

Instead of receiving a letter from her eldest son, An Jie received a letter from her elder brother, An Tai, announcing his visit. An Jie pouted at Jiang Defu; her brother never came without a reason, so he must have something to ask of her.

A few days before Anjie's family arrived, she busied herself tidying up the house, determined to show her brother how well she was doing now, how loving her husband was, and how well-behaved and adorable her children were.

Lin Wangshu couldn't help but chuckle when she saw it. To satisfy An Jie's vanity, she personally cooked sauerkraut fish on the day An Tai's family came.

The Jiang family loved Lin Wangshu's cooking because she knew how to make many dishes they had never tried before. However, she rarely cooked, and An Jie didn't want her to either, saying that such beautiful hands weren't meant for holding a kitchen knife.

When An Tai and his group arrived, Lin Wangshu greeted them at the door along with An Jie, and An Jie introduced Lin Wangshu to them.

Sister-in-law An was surprised when she saw her. She hadn't expected the girl to be so beautiful, with a lovely face and a slender figure. In particular, she had a pair of fox-like eyes that were sparkling with water. However, Lin Wangshu had clear eyes and a clear mind, so it was a waste of those eyes.

Sister-in-law An, holding Lin Wangshu's hand, smiled at An Jie and said, "It seems that Songshan Island is indeed a beautiful place with clear waters and lush mountains. Not only have you not changed over the years and are still so beautiful, but your daughter is also graceful and elegant, making our An Yi look like a little girl."

An Yi pouted slightly, somewhat displeased. Why was her mother using her as a scapegoat when she was praising someone?

An Jie grinned from ear to ear: "Sister-in-law, come in quickly. Wang Shu specially prepared a dish for you. Let's take our seats."

Jiang Defu was quite expectant upon hearing this, and said loudly to An Tai, "I'm really fortunate to have you all. My daughter is quite skilled in cooking, and she rarely cooks."

The meal was a great success, with both hosts and guests thoroughly enjoying themselves. An Tai and his wife praised the dish and complimented An Jie for raising such a wonderful daughter. Lin Wangshu blushed at their praise, but An Jie was delighted, and her smile became much more genuine.

That evening, the An family was unpacking the gifts they had prepared in their room. An Yi, resting her chin on her hand, sighed, "My aunt's house is really big!" She then glanced at her mother and said with a hint of bitterness, "And there's my pretty little sister who makes me look like a little yellow-haired girl."

Sister-in-law An was both amused and exasperated. She hadn't expected the child to remember that. She gently tapped An Yi's head and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? It's just a polite remark. Can't you tell?"

An Yi covered her head and muttered, "I can't tell."

As she spoke, Sister-in-law An stopped what she was doing, smiled, and said, "This girl is indeed very beautiful." Then, as if she had just thought of something, she excitedly asked An Tai, "What do you think about giving her to our An Chen?"

An Tai glared at her and said disapprovingly, "Don't you dare play matchmaker. Don't you even know how much older An Chen is than her?" As he spoke, he leaned closer and whispered, "Besides, you're the only one with a son. Doesn't she have one?"

Sister-in-law An was surprised and asked tentatively, "You mean... no way?"

An Tai said with a meaningful look, "Why not? He's not my biological son."

An Yi was also unwilling. She didn't like Lin Wangshu very much, let alone want her to be her sister-in-law.

Seeing this, Sister-in-law An chuckled and said, "I was just saying. She's so attractive, we can't keep her in our family."

An Yi's enlistment was successful, and her family was leaving. Ya Fei was overjoyed. She disliked An Yi, and the fact that An Yi was getting along so well with the annoying Wang Haiyang made her even more irritating.

Seeing Yafei like this, Lin Wangshu couldn't help but sigh. A young girl's heart is so complicated. Sometimes she doesn't even know her own feelings.

Jiang Weidong is back from military training. He has changed a lot in the past two years. He is now as tall as Jiang Defu and has become much stronger.

A few days later, Ouyang Yi and An Xin also arrived. Their family was returning to the city and wanted to thank An Jie's family for taking care of them over the years before leaving.

Jiang Defu ordered a table full of delicious dishes. The children didn't drink alcohol, and they went back to their rooms early after finishing their meal.

Anuo flipped through the books on the bookshelf, becoming completely engrossed in them as soon as she opened one. Anran held up Lin Wangshu's hair clip and compared it to her hair, saying enviously, "Little sister Wangshu, my aunt treats you even better than her own daughter, right?"

Yafei snorted coldly: "What do you mean by biological parents? My sister is pretty, and my mom likes to dress her up, so what?"

Ya Ning nodded in agreement. She was a bookworm, and all the books in her mother's collection were hers. If she were dressed up like a doll by An Jie like her older sister, she would go crazy.

An Ran put down the hair clip she was holding, sat there with a dark face, and didn't say a word.

Lin Wangshu smiled and winked at Yafei, then secretly gave her a thumbs up.

When Yafei saw this, she tilted her head back triumphantly. I don't know why, but this girl disliked her cousin so much. It seemed that she could see that although they wanted something from her father, they still couldn't hide their contempt for her father's peasant background.

On the other side, Jiang Weidong grabbed Weimin and tried to arm wrestle. How could Jiang Weimin possibly beat him? Weimin didn't have the same ambition as his brothers to join the army and defend the country. He was almost crying and looked at Lin Wangshu for help with a wrinkled face.

Lin Wangshu received the message. She walked over quietly and reached out to tickle Wei Dong. Jiang Wei Dong immediately lost his composure and his strength gave way, allowing Jiang Weimin to successfully launch a sneak attack.

"You little rascal, always siding with outsiders." Jiang Weidong chuckled sinisterly, stretching his arms as if to retaliate in kind.

Lin Wangshu couldn't handle it and laughed so hard she fell onto the bed, rolling around to avoid him. "Good second brother, please spare me! You're so amazing, when eldest brother comes back, you can compete with him!"

Jiang Weidong looked down at Lin Wangshu and saw that her cheeks were flushed, her eyes were glistening with tears, and she was clutching her stomach, looking like she was laughing uncontrollably. Suddenly, he stopped, stood up straight, and stopped looking at her.

"I'll let you off this time."

Suddenly, a very loud voice rang out from outside, "I am Ouyang Yi." The voice was filled with suppressed grievances and heartache.

Anran and Anuo quickly ran out to see what was happening, and the others looked at each other and followed suit.

On the table, Ouyang Yi was crying and screaming in agony. He was pounding the table with his fists, as if he wanted to vent all the humiliation and frustration he had suffered over the years.

Seeing Ouyang Yi and the others like this, An Jie felt bad and asked Jiang Defu to help them by sending An Ran and An Nuo to join the army.

Dehua was resentful that the An family got all the good things while the Jiang family didn't get any benefit.

Jiang Weidong excitedly ran home and announced, "I want to be a pilot, a pilot who flies airplanes!"
