Parents' Love: My Childhood Sweethearts with Jiang Weidong

Chapter 31 First Meeting with Jiang Changyi

Jiang Weidong had never seen An Jie cry. In front of her children, she was always a beautiful and charming mother. Although the Jiang family children didn't say it, they were actually very proud because their mother was educated and could be very presentable in front of her playmates.

But seeing An Jie sobbing helplessly on his shoulder, Jiang Weidong felt both distressed and angry. His eyes were filled with barely concealed rage, but he gently patted An Jie's shoulder to comfort her, saying, "Mom, don't be sad. Tell me slowly what happened."

Lin Wangshu hadn't expected that An Jie would be so aggrieved and upset in places the TV series couldn't film. Her hatred for Jiang Changyi grew even stronger, and she hugged An Jie, choking back tears as she said, "Mom, who bullied you? I'll definitely get revenge for you!"

The moment An Jie saw Jiang Changyi, she was overwhelmed with anger and humiliation at being deceived. She wanted to go crazy and make a scene, but her upbringing prevented her from doing so.

So all her emotions were buried deep in her heart. Anjie could only lie in bed and sulk. Because Jiang Defu didn't explain and the children were heartless, it seemed that only Yafei cared about her mother. Her resentment grew heavier and heavier, and she could no longer stay in this isolated and helpless home.

But as she disembarked from the swaying boat and saw Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu's excited smiles upon seeing her, An Jie's longing and grievances surged up, causing her to burst into tears in front of her now-grown son.

Hearing the two comforting words, An Jie felt much better. These two children were still on her side. She got up from Jiang Weidong's shoulder a little embarrassed and wiped the tears from her face.

Lin Wangshu handed her her handkerchief, which An Jie took. Looking at their concerned faces, she calmed down and told them what had happened yesterday.

"So he's my dad's kid from the countryside?" Jiang Weidong exclaimed in disbelief. He felt like he was undergoing weightlessness training, his head spinning. How could something like this happen in their family?

An Jie nodded fiercely, her tone filled with anger towards Jiang Defu, and said, "Otherwise what? Your father is a big liar; he lied to me his whole life!"

Jiang Weidong's mind was in turmoil. He felt sad seeing An Jie's heartbroken state, but he couldn't bring himself to resent Jiang Defu. His long-awaited family visit leave had been ruined by Jiang Changyi, a complete stranger. At this moment, Jiang Weidong felt utterly disgusted with him.

Turning to look at Lin Wangshu, Jiang Weidong noticed that she showed no surprise, as if she already knew. He tentatively asked, "Wangshu, do you know something?"

Lin Wangshu nodded and said calmly, "I've heard Sister Yanfeng mention Jiang Changyi, but she said he's not my father's son."

An Jie sighed with a look that said, "Outsiders will definitely think he's the son of the man Zhang Guilan remarried!"

"No, she suspects that Jiang Changyi is my father's second brother's son."

"What?" Anjie covered her mouth in surprise, her sadness vanishing at the absurd news.

"Does Dad know?" Jiang Weidong was shocked but willing to believe it was true, better than it really being Jiang Defu's son!

Lin Wangshu shook her head, indicating that she did not know.

“That might not be true, your dad…” An Jie said hesitantly. If it were true, how embarrassing would it be for Jiang Defu?

The ship's horn sounded, signaling that it was about to depart. Anjie urged them to board, but Jiang Weidong said with some concern, "Mom, why don't we go back to Qingdao with you?"

"No need. You haven't been back for so long, your dad and aunt miss you a lot."

An Jie's heart softened. She wanted to go back and ask Jiang Defu for an explanation, but she couldn't bring herself to go back now that she had just left.

Lin Wangshu saw through this and said understandingly, "Mom, you should go back and rest for a few days. I'll have Dad write you a letter to come back later."

Standing on the deck, Lin Wangshu smiled and waved to An Jie. Only after the figures on the shore grew smaller and smaller until they disappeared from sight did she put away her smile and walk into the cabin with a cold face.

Jiang Weidong felt irritated and wanted to smoke, but looking at Lin Wangshu beside him, he gave up and could only sigh, "What do you think we should do when we get back?"

Lin Wangshu sneered and said, "What should I do? The first thing I'll do when I get back is ask Jiang Weiguo how he behaves as the eldest son."

Jiang Weidong's heart skipped a beat when he saw the coldness in her eyes. He had thought Lin Wangshu was going back to deal with Jiang Changyi, but it turned out she was going to settle scores with Jiang Weiguo. He could only weakly ask her, "Why are you so angry with your older brother?"

"As the eldest brother, he made Mom cry and go back to Qingdao. Shouldn't I be angry with him?" After saying that, she glanced at Jiang Weidong sideways and said in a dangerous tone, "Or do you think he did the right thing?"

Jiang Weidong was startled by her gaze and quickly waved his hand, saying, "Of course not!"

Lin Wangshu then calmed down, reached out and took his hand, her eyes glistening with tears, and said sarcastically, "Believe it or not, my brother is currently at home with that Jiang Changyi brother!"

Jiang Weidong didn't speak. He didn't want to believe it, but he felt that it might be true. His older brother had always been carefree, so he could only hold Lin Wangshu's hand tightly and say, "When we get home, I'll listen to you and be your protector."

Lin Wangshu chuckled and said irritably, "Do you think I'm going back to cause a ruckus in Heaven?"

Jiang Weidong couldn't help but smile and said gently to her, "Even if you want to make a scene, I'll listen to you."

Once the boat docked, they hurried home. Jiang Weidong pushed open the gate and, sure enough, there was a strange man standing in the yard holding a hoe, with Jiang Weiguo talking to him gently beside him.

Lin Wangshu glanced at Jiang Weidong, her eyes full of disdain, and said in a low voice, "I told you so!"

Jiang Weidong coughed awkwardly and called out to Jiang Weiguo, "Big brother, we're back!"

"You two are finally back! You were so slow!" Jiang Weiguo was delighted to see them and came over with a smile to help them with their luggage.

Inside the house, Yafei, Yaning, and Jiang Weimin also heard the noise and ran out. Yafei was the most emotional, running up to Lin Wangshu and hugging her tightly, her voice still trembling with tears, "Big sister, you're finally back!"

Lin Wangshu stroked her hair and said with heartache, "I'm back. I know our Yafei has been wronged. I'll stand up for you."

"Alright, you're all grown up now, why are you still crying in front of your sister!" Jiang Weiguo shook his head and laughed when he saw Yafei acting so childishly.

Jiang Changyi, standing behind them, looked at his brothers and sisters reunited, somewhat at a loss. Jiang Weiguo, seeing his pitiful appearance, sighed inwardly and pulled him over to introduce him to Lin Wangshu and Jiang Weidong: "This is Jiang Changyi, he is..."

Jiang Weiguo didn't know how to introduce him, but Jiang Weimin, oblivious to the situation, shouted, "He's our new big brother!"

Yafei glared at him with reddened eyes and said, "What nonsense are you talking about?"

Jiang Weimin shrank back when she glared at him and dared not speak.

Jiang Weidong sized up this suddenly appearing "big brother" with an unfriendly look in his eyes, while Lin Wangshu didn't even look at him, only saying to Jiang Weiguo in a detached tone: "Big brother, I have something to say to you."

After saying that, he went inside, acting as if he hadn't seen Jiang Changyi at all, treating him like air. Jiang Weidong glanced at Jiang Weiguo with some pity and followed him inside.

Soon only Jiang Weiguo and Jiang Changyi remained in the courtyard. Jiang Changyi lowered his head even further, his face still expressionless, but he gripped the hoe tightly in his hand.

Jiang Weiguo was somewhat helpless. He hadn't expected Weidong and Wangshu to be more resistant to Jiang Changyi than he had imagined. He could only smile and comfort him, "Don't take it to heart. They're not usually like this."

Jiang Changyi nodded silently, and Jiang Weiguo put his arm around him and they went into the house together. "Come on, you come with me."

When they arrived at the door of the house where Wei Guo and Wei Dong had stayed, Ya Feiya was sitting on the bed, and Jiang Weimin was excitedly helping Jiang Wei Dong pack his luggage. Lin Wangshu was standing at the door waiting. When she saw that Jiang Wei Guo was going to take Jiang Changyi with him, her face turned even colder and she stopped him.

"Comrade Jiang Weiguo, what are you doing here with an outsider?"
