He Lan Tianxia

Chapter 92 Falling into the Abyss

During the days that Yan'er was unconscious, Murong Junlan briefly recounted his experience in the Mercury Cave to everyone. Although he spoke of it in a light and casual manner, the perilous scenes in the cave sent chills down the spines of those who heard it. As for just how thrilling it was, only Prince Murong and his consort could truly understand.

On the day the barrier broke, Murong Junlan carried Yan'er and rushed out of the Mercury Cave. They walked along the stone path, and just as they were about to reach the entrance, Yan'er, angry that Murong was carrying her, struggled and kicked her leg, accidentally kicking open a side door with a loud "bang." Murong Junlan peeked out to see what was happening, but the stone beneath his feet tilted, and the two of them uncontrollably slid down.

The sound was like sliding onto a wooden plank, pitch black. Murong Junlan fumbled for a flint, struck it, and couldn't help but gasp. Yan'er screamed, but Murong Junlan quickly covered her mouth.

My goodness, this is a dangerous situation! One wrong move and you could be killed by anyone. Although Yan'er didn't remember who Murong Junlan was, she felt this handsome guy was somewhat reliable. Even though she'd been forcibly kissed, he seemed to be protecting her at all times. Putting aside the matter of being taken advantage of for now, her life was more important, so she obediently sat down next to Murong Junlan, unable to move at all. Looking down, beneath the wooden plank lay an endless expanse of dark, sharp knives. These knives seemed capable of shattering the plank at any moment; falling in would mean instant separation of flesh and bone—a truly gruesome fate.

Murong Junlan held Yan'er's hand firmly with one hand, his eyes highly vigilant as he surveyed his surroundings.

With a whoosh, a knife tip emerged and blocked the wooden plank. The plank stopped abruptly, and the two men lurched forward. Murong Junlan extended a foot to steady himself, and the knife tip sank back down. The plank slid a little further, and another knife tip emerged, blocking the plank again...

Yan'er was utterly terrified. Her palms were sweating with nervousness. She regretted kicking him earlier; that kick had plunged her and Prince Murong into a dark abyss. Who was to blame?

Suddenly the wooden plank braked sharply again, and Yan'er bumped into Murong Junlan's back.

"Sit tight and don't get distracted," Murong Junlan reminded her.

The wooden plank slid forward with a clatter, and no one knew which dark corner it would slide into. Murong Junlan reached out and took Yan'er's hand, and Yan'er felt a moment of warmth in her heart.

With a series of "thumps," the wooden plank slammed into something again, hitting the ground several times before the person could even settle in. Even Murong Junlan couldn't control himself and swayed from side to side. Afraid that Yan'er would lose her balance, Murong Junlan simply stretched out his long arm and caught her around the waist. Just as Yan'er was about to push him away, the plank suddenly spun around 360 degrees. One rotation, two rotations, three rotations… and with a crash, the plank tumbled down into another dark hole.

With a "thud," something shattered the wooden plank, revealing a sharp knife. Fortunately, Murong Junlan reacted quickly and grabbed a dangling rope. The rope plummeted downwards, startling Yan'er, who instinctively reached out and hugged Murong Junlan's waist, relieving the weight on her hand.

"Hold on tight to me, and don't move," Murong Junlan instructed.

How could Yan'er dare to move? She was so scared that she clung to Murong Junlan. Even so, Murong Junlan still focused intently on what was in front of him.

Suddenly, a bright light flashed ahead, and just as they thought they were at the cave entrance, the rope snapped, and the two of them uncontrollably slid into the unknown abyss...
