In the end, the Great Sage broke the rules.

Chapter 10 Arrival at Gao Lao Zhuang

Inside the Guanyin Temple, time seemed to stretch out, and Chen Yi waited for five days in a row.

Finally, at dusk on the fifth day, as a rosy glow appeared on the horizon, Sun Wukong's figure came into view.

He nimbly leaped into the courtyard, still holding the cassock in his hand.

Chen Yi's eyes lit up, and a joyful smile immediately spread across his face.

He rushed towards Sun Wukong, taking two steps at a time, looking exactly like a puppy trying to please its master.

"Great Sage, you are truly amazing! My admiration for you is as boundless as a surging river!" Chen Yi said, circling around Sun Wukong, his sycophantic manner making everyone chuckle.

Upon seeing this, Sun Wukong couldn't help but smile slightly, revealing a barely perceptible hint of amusement.

"Of course, how could that black bear demon possibly stump this Great Sage?" His tone was full of confidence and pride.

Chen Yi nodded vigorously, his face beaming with smiles, and echoed, "Yes, yes, the Great Sage is all-powerful and has boundless magical abilities. This little thing is of course no problem for him!"

"But Great Sage, now that we've retrieved the cassock, can we continue our journey tomorrow?"

Sun Wukong nodded slightly and replied calmly, "Hmm."

A single, simple word, yet it carries an undeniable authority.

……

The next day, Chen Yi, carrying a bulging bag full of dry food, continued his long journey to obtain the scriptures with Sun Wukong.

"Benefactor? Hey! Wake up!"

Chen Yi's voice was too gentle, but the person lying on the stone remained like a sleeping statue, unresponsive.

Helpless, Chen Yi had no choice but to shout at the top of his lungs, "Gao Kai! The monster is coming!"

The shout was like a thunderclap. The next second, the person who was lying on the rock was sprung up as if by a spring and sat up instantly.

"What?! A monster!"

He turned his head in a panic, and what came into view was a monk with red lips and white teeth, who looked like an immortal, and a man dressed in black with a cold and indifferent expression.

Gao Kai was taken aback and stammered, "Who are you?"

Chen Yi put his hands together and solemnly said, "Amitabha, hello benefactor. I am Tang Xuanzang, a monk from the Tang Dynasty, and he is my disciple Sun Wukong."

Then, he pointed at Sun Wukong and continued, "My disciple possesses extraordinary skills and the ability to subdue demons and monsters. I wonder if he would be willing to travel with you?"

Upon hearing this, Gao Kai's eyes lit up immediately.

"Really?! Your apprentice really has the ability to catch monsters?"

Chen nodded, his face full of certainty: "Of course."

Gao Kai then remembered that the monk Tang Xuanzang had called him by name as soon as they met, which must mean he was a highly accomplished Taoist.

Gao Kai was overjoyed: "Good, good, good, please follow me, two mages."

Chen Yi winked mischievously at Sun Wukong and lowered his voice, saying, "Great Sage, aren't I amazing?"

Sun Wukong's lips curled up slightly, a half-smile playing on his lips, and he said, "So-so."

Chen Yi wasn't discouraged and comforted himself, saying, "It's okay if it's just average. It's still pretty impressive."

The two followed Gao Kai and soon arrived at the Gao family home.

"Masters, please wait a moment while I go and report to them."

Chen Yi waved his hand casually: "Go ahead, go ahead."

Gao Kai rushed forward and knocked on the door urgently: "Open the door! Open the door!"

"Who is it?"

Gao Kai's voice was filled with excitement: "It's me."

"The monk has been invited?"

Gao Kai looked excited: "They've arrived! They've arrived!"

As he spoke, he galloped into the house like a wild horse.

"Grandpa! Grandpa!"

When Mr. Gao saw Gao Kai, he couldn't help but frown, his brows furrowing like two intertwined earthworms: "Why are you back?"

Gao Kai quickly replied, "I've brought the mage you wanted."

Master Gao asked with some skepticism, "Oh? They were invited here as soon as I left?"

Gao Kai nodded repeatedly, like a chick pecking at rice: "It's true! He said he can catch monsters, and he's right at the door."

Madam Gao urged, "Hurry up and invite him in."

Master Gao replied, "Yes, I'll go right away."
