"I'm going to rest now. Goodnight, Che."

Jiang Yi looked at the faint moonlight shining through the room, walked over and drew the curtains to make sure there was no light at all.

Chi Ruiche turned on the wall lamp, gently closed the door, and instructed the maid not to wake her tomorrow before returning to his room.

Jiang Yi lay in bed, but eventually succumbed to sleepiness, and her breathing gradually calmed down.

In my dream…

Li Yue stood in the middle of the cafeteria, his clothes stained red with blood, and blood was still flowing from the knife stuck in his abdomen.

"Why don't you save me?"

Li Yue began spitting blood, a sinister smile twisting his lips as he stared intently at Jiang Yi. "You're the one who killed me."

"I covered it up, so why is it still leaking?"

Seeing his hands covered in blood, Jiang Yi instinctively tried to cover the wound for him.

"You killed me." Li Yue kept repeating this sentence, tears of blood streaming from his eyes.

Suddenly, Jiang Yi had a knife in his hand. Li Yue fell into a pool of blood, his mouth filled with more and more blood. Blood blocked his throat, and his speech became slurred.

"Save...me...why?"

Jiang's hands and body were trembling as he looked at the knife. "It wasn't me, I didn't do it."

She wanted to go see Li Xiao, but she was held tightly in her arms. "No."

The girl on the large bed unconsciously uttered a soft voice, "It wasn't me...it wasn't me," cold sweat beading on her delicate forehead.

"Che, help me...save me!"

"I……"

"what-"

Jiang Yi sat up straight in bed and looked at her hands. She felt that her hands were covered in blood. She ran to the bathroom, turned on the water and kept rinsing her hands, scrubbing them vigorously.

It took her half an hour to come to her senses and stand barefoot on the floor tiles.

She had another nightmare. She dried her hands, lay back in bed, wide awake, hugged her knees, and curled up into a small ball, as if only then could she feel safe.

Jiang Yi has lost count of how many times she has woken up from her dreams in a fright; the accident three years ago has become a persistent nightmare.

Every day, I either have to get completely drunk or take medication, otherwise I'll fall asleep only to wake up again and again, resulting in a recurring cycle of insomnia all night long.

Chi Ruiche closed his laptop, pinched the bridge of his nose, and prepared to rest. He felt like he heard Xiao Yi's voice, but he was probably just hallucinating because he was too tired. He listened carefully again, but still couldn't hear it.

Chi Ruiche gave a slight, mocking twitch of his lips. He was only cautious when facing Jiang Yi.

The first rays of sunlight in the morning pierce through the clouds, illuminating the earth and chasing away the dreams of the night.

Jiang Yi glanced at the time, opened the curtains, and sunlight streamed through the window, warming her cold body. Feeling it was about time, Jiang Yi finished washing up and prepared to go downstairs.

When Jiang Yi opened the door, he was right in front of Chi Ruiche. He noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and her face looked tired. Did she not sleep well last night?

"Are you feeling unwell? You don't look well." Chi Ruiche reached out and touched her forehead.

Jiang Yi didn't resist, and gave a faint smile: "No, my biological clock is a little messed up." Jiang Yi made an excuse to avoid Chi Ruiche's question.

"Have some breakfast before you go back to rest."

Chi Ruiche knew that she had a weak immune system since childhood and was prone to catching colds and fevers when the seasons changed. She hadn't taken proper care of herself after suddenly returning from New Zealand.

"Okay. I want to eat wontons."

Apart from Jiang Yang, no one knew about the nightmares she had been having for the past few years, and she tried her best not to show it.

"it is good."

Jiang Yi followed Chi Ruiche down the stairs and took a good look at the interior layout.

The first floor consists of multiple rooms. The hall floor is paved with marble slabs, and several ancient paintings hang on the walls. To the left is an open kitchen that connects to the dining room, where some breakfast items have already been set on the tables.

To the right is a spacious living room with oversized floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the garden outside. A comfortable leather sofa is paired with a dark-colored coffee table.

"Aunt Wang, make a bowl of bubble wontons," Chi Ruiche instructed the busy figure in the kitchen.

"Yes."

Chi Ruiche pulled out a dining chair for Jiang Yi and poured her a glass of soy milk and a glass of warm water. "Wait a moment, eat something else first."

Chi Ruiche placed the tableware on Jiang Yi's left. Jiang Yi was surprised to find that since she returned, her tableware had always been on the left, and everything Chi Ruiche gave her was always on the left, without ever missing it.

Aunt Wang quickly placed the cooked wontons on a plate, put both bowls next to Chi Ruiche, and then stood aside, waiting for Chi Ruiche's instructions.

Chi Ruiche got up, removed Jiang Yi's bone plate, and replaced it with wontons: "It's a bit hot, take your time."

Jiang Yi looked at the bowl of wontons. The wonton wrappers were as thin as cicada wings, puffed up like bubbles. She took a small bite and found a little bit of meat filling inside. The main flavor was the wrapper and the clear broth with three kinds of seafood. This was her favorite kind of wonton.

"How is it?" Chi Ruiche asked Jiang Yi cautiously, without eating.

"good to eat."

Jiang Yi seemed to see a look of anticipation for praise in Chi Ruiche's eyes. Actually, the hot pot last night was too greasy, and a bowl of wontons this morning made her stomach feel much better.

Hearing Jiang Yi's words, Chi Ruiche's expressionless face relaxed, and Aunt Wang, who was standing behind him, also felt relieved.
