Chapter 53 The Treasure-Spitting Rat Makes its Appearance, and Tianlu Suffers Persecution Yet Again

The midday sun spread its heat across the world, and sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating a little Pixiu that was completely unaware that the sun was shining on its bottom.

With a creak, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Bixie walked in. He couldn't help but sigh when he saw Baijie still lazing in bed at noon.

"Bai Jie, it's time to get up." Bi Xie jumped onto the bed, came to Bai Jie's side, and patted his younger brother's face with his paw.

"Ah~ Is it lunchtime?" Bai Jie yawned, still half asleep. Ever since he got home, he had been playing games and watching dramas day and night, and now he had completely lost his sense of time.

"We'll have to wait a while before we can eat..." Before Bixie could finish his sentence, he saw Baijie pull the blanket over his head.

"Hmm~ I'll sleep a little longer, wake me up when dinner's ready." A muffled voice came from under the blanket, which was slightly bulging.

Bixie yanked the blanket off: "Get up! You lazybones!"

"I don't want to get up." Bai Jie turned over, grabbed a pillow, hugged it to her chest, and continued sleeping.

"Tianlu is bringing guests back today, is this how you behave!" Pixie looked at Baijie, whose fur was all messed up, and angrily snatched the pillow away again.

"I'll just stay in the bedroom~" This time, Bai Jie simply hugged Bi Xie's tail, as if he couldn't fall asleep without hugging something.

Bixie tried to tug at its own tail, but couldn't pull it out: This shamelessness must have been learned from Tianlu!

"Stop fooling around, Bai Jie. This guest can spit out pearls. If you don't get up, Tian Lu will eat them all." Bi Xie looked at Bai Jie, who seemed to be stuck to him, and had no choice but to tempt him with food.

"What? The Treasure-Spitting Rat!" Bai Jie snapped back to reality: the plot had progressed to the point where the Treasure-Spitting Rat had made its appearance!

"Pei, let me see the scripts for Bixie's recent scenes!"

"Huh?" Bixie didn't quite catch up with Baijie's sudden shift in thinking: Wasn't he talking about the precious pearl? How did he get onto the script?

Although he didn't understand what was going on, Bixie still dug out the script from the past few days and threw it to Baijie.

Bai Jie quickly skimmed through the script, and then he almost had a mental breakdown.

"Did I miss something?" Bai Jie asked, her voice trembling as she flipped through the script and showed a section to Bi Xie.

Bixie glanced at it and saw that the scene Baijie pointed out to him was the part at the end of episode 25 where Nezha showed his face.

"Why are you so concerned about things on set?" Pixie looked at Baijie again, utterly bewildered.

"So I really missed out~?" Bai Jie looked like he was about to cry at any moment. He didn't want to be like this, but the feeling of having his long-awaited thing fall through was something he couldn't control.

“Nezha didn’t come at all. Tianlu told me when he got home that day, but you were sleeping like a log and didn’t hear him.” Bixie said bluntly, but his body language betrayed his words as he hugged Baijie and snuggled against her. (A standard Bixie-style comforting gesture.)

"Really?" Bai Jie raised his head, his eyes, misty with tears, looking at Bi Xie.

"Really, that scene with Nezha was filmed on their own set." Bixie and Baijie touched heads, their tone softening unconsciously.

"Phew, that's good then." Bai Jie's mind gradually relaxed after hearing this.

"Bai Jie, now that you're up, go wash up." Pi Xie finished speaking, but didn't hear Bai Jie's reply. He looked at his younger brother in his arms with a puzzled expression.

"Snoring~ Snoring~ Snoring~" Bai Jie fell asleep again at some point, snoring softly from his nose, a trickle of saliva slowly hanging from the corner of his mouth.

Pi Xie's forehead veins bulged: "Get up, you lazybones!"

After another round of trouble, Bixie finally managed to get Baijie, a chronic procrastinator, to go wash up.

After a while, in the living room…

The television was playing a program, but Bai Jie's attention was completely elsewhere. His little head was nodding, and he seemed ready to fall asleep at any moment.

"Bai Jie, how late did you stay out last night?" Bi Xie asked, speechless.

"I don't know. I played until I was so sleepy last night that I couldn't stay awake any longer." Bai Jie raised his paw and rubbed his eyes, trying to wake himself up.

Pi Xie clutched his head in exasperation: "Have I been too lenient with Bai Jie?"

"Sigh~ If you're sleepy, just sleep on the sofa for a while longer." Bixie waved its paw wearily.

"Okay." Upon hearing this, Bai Jie immediately stopped pretending. He hugged the Tianlu doll next to him, closed his eyes, and fell asleep instantly.

Pi Xie shook his head helplessly as he looked at Bai Jie's sleeping face, then turned around to prepare lunch.

The sounds of pots and pans clattering in the kitchen, along with the sound of the television and stereo, echoed throughout the house. Bai Jie was fast asleep on the sofa, completely undisturbed by these noises.

Before long, the door was pushed open, and two beasts followed them in.

“Treasure-spitting rat, this is my home. Don’t be shy, make yourself at home.”

"Okay, thank you, Brother Pipi."

"Hehe, you're welcome. After all, you've been so good to me."

While cooking, Bixie's ears twitched, and he heard the door open and faint conversation. He continued working while calling out, "Tianlu, the food is almost ready. Wake Baijie up so we can go wash our hands together!"

"Okay!" Tianlu replied and looked around the room. Soon, he found Baijie sleeping on the sofa and ran over to him.

"Is this Pipi's brother? So cute!" The Treasure-Spitting Mouse also saw Bai Jie. Her eyes lit up. Bai Jie was leaning against the sofa, hugging Tianlu's doll, with a faint smile on his lips. He looked like he was sleeping soundly.

"Brother Pipi, he seems to rely on you a lot." Tubaoshu pointed to the doll that Baijie was holding and couldn't help but show a maternal smile.

"Hmph, of course, I raised Bai Jie." Tian Lu proudly raised its tail upon hearing this, its smug expression causing the Treasure-Spitting Rat to cover its mouth involuntarily.

"Bai Jie, wake up! Bi Xie is telling us to go wash our hands!" Tian Lu grabbed Bai Jie and shook him.

A short while later, Bai Jie opened his eyes, still sleepy.

"Um... Tianlu, you... who are you?!" Bai Jie, who had just woken up, was startled when she saw the beast in front of her and swung a doll at it.

With a thud, Tianlu, caught off guard, was knocked to the ground.

"Ouch! Bai Jie, you hit me as soon as you got up!" Tian Lu cried out, clutching his head where he had hit the ground.

"Huh?" Bai Jie sat on the sofa, bewildered, staring at the beast lying on the ground. "You are... Tianlu?!"

Bai Jie's face was full of disbelief: This beast covered in mottled patches, like a child's doodle, is Tianlu?!

"You... how did you become like this?" Her mind was still a little foggy from just waking up, and Bai Jie had completely forgotten the script she had just read not long ago.

"Hmph! If it weren't for filming, I wouldn't have become like this!" Tianlu huffed and turned his head to the side.

"Huh? Then why did you just come back like this?" Bai Jie tilted his head in confusion, clearly still not quite understanding.

"It's because Brother Pipi ate my Mani Jewel that he became like this. My Mani Jewel has a dyeing effect, and once someone eats it, the effect will only fade on its own," the Treasure-Spitting Mouse explained considerately to Tianlu.

Only then did Bai Jie realize that there was indeed a scene in the script where Tianlu turned into a hairy Pixiu. He shook his head to clear his mind a little.

"Wait a minute, shouldn't you wear makeup for this kind of scene? Why did you actually eat yourself into this state?" Bai Jie noticed the blind spot and stared at Tian Lu.

“Uh… this, this…” Tianlu panicked under Baijie’s gaze. He racked his brains trying to come up with a perfect excuse, but his mind was completely blank.

"So you really brought this on yourself, didn't you?" Bai Jie looked at Tian Lu with an expression that said, "This is how things should develop normally."

"Aaaaaah! So what if it is!" Tianlu's face flushed red as he finally roared in a fit of rage.

The evil spirit in the kitchen was so frightened that it almost knocked over the pot.

"What's going on now?" Bixie looked towards the kitchen door, but the door was closed and he couldn't see anything. Oh well, it would be strange if the two of them didn't cause trouble. Let's cook first.

"Hey, don't be angry, tell me what happened first." Bai Jie jumped off the sofa and moved closer to Tian Lu, completely ignoring his sour face.

The Treasure-Spitting Rat was quite surprised to see Bai Jie constantly pestering Tianlu: So this is the type of brother Pipi?

In the end, Tianlu couldn't resist Baijie's persistent pleading and recounted what had happened with a disgruntled expression.

TuTu had originally put makeup on Tianlu, but because of the makeup, she didn't notice any changes in her body when Tianlu was showing off the pearl.

When Tianlu removed his makeup, none of the other animals on set could hold back their laughter, except for TuTu, who broke down on the spot when he learned that the makeup he had worked so hard to create actually didn't need to be done.

After learning the whole story, Bai Jie mourned for Tu Tu for two seconds: What a tragic makeup artist. She was always being persecuted in the original play, and I never thought that she would not escape the arrangement of fate in real life either.

TuTu, squatting in a corner of Caiyun Village, is saying: Damn director, I work so hard and you still don't give me a raise! I'll draw a circle and curse you!

"The food is ready. Have you two washed your hands?" Bixie carried the food out of the kitchen. His gaze swept across the living room, and the next second, he stopped.

"Where did this ugly monster come from!" Bixie spotted the unidentified creature with its colorful body in the living room at a glance. He was so frightened that he took a step back, and the bowl he was holding in his paws wobbled slightly, splashing soup all over himself.

"Crack!"

Bai Jie looked around suspiciously: Was I hallucinating? Why does it feel like something broke?

"Waaaaaaahhhhhh!" Tianlu suddenly broke down and cried out, turned around and rushed out of the house, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.

“That… he’s Tianlu!?” Upon hearing the familiar voice, Bixie almost blurted out, “That ugly monster is Tianlu?” But fortunately, he reacted in time and corrected himself.

“Uh…yes…” Bai Jie nodded slowly, staring at the front door, seemingly understanding what had shattered: Tianlu’s fragile heart, huh.

"Ugh~" Bixie groaned, then shoved the food onto the table and rushed out the door. "Tianlu, wait! It's not what you think!"

The shouts of Bixie gradually faded into the distance, and Baijie turned around to stare at the treasure-spitting rat.

"How about we eat first?" Bai Jie tentatively asked.

"Aren't we going to leave Pipi-ge behind? He looks so sad." Treasure-spitting Mouse looked worriedly towards the door.

Bai Jie shrugged: "The problem is, we can't catch up either."

“Uh…” The treasure-spitting mouse fell silent: That makes a lot of sense.
