Chapter 891 Enough!
Just then, Kakashi turned around, preparing to charge at the enemy again. "Enough!" Minato shouted, "You must obey my orders, Kakashi! You can't be so stubborn anymore!"
Kakashi stopped and turned to Minato, coldly saying, "I'm not fighting for anyone else, I'm fighting to surpass my father! I must prove that I am the strongest ninja in Konoha!" The anger and stubbornness in his eyes were extremely obvious.
Minato sighed, seemingly understanding Kakashi's inner struggle. "Kakashi, you must let go of this burden. You cannot surpass your father alone; you must learn to rely on your teammates. The strength of the team is your strongest support."
At this moment, Zhang Hai was silent for a while, then suddenly said, "Minato is right, Kakashi. Your father, the White Fang of Konoha, didn't die as gloriously as the rumors suggest. He didn't die in battle, but chose suicide because he endured too much pain. Your father carried a heavy responsibility until his mind and body collapsed." He looked at Kakashi, his tone unhurried, "You should perhaps know this. You've always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the White Fang of Konoha, but you should understand that you are not him, and you have your own path to walk."
Kakashi's body stiffened instantly, his face turned pale, and a trace of pain and shock flashed in his eyes. "What did you say? My father, he..." Kakashi's voice trembled slightly.
"Konoha's White Fang wasn't perfect; there was too much unspeakable pain behind his death." Zhang Hai's voice remained calm. "You can't blindly imitate him or carry his expectations. You need to walk your own path, Kakashi."
Obito also looked up, his gaze complex. "So, Kakashi, that's why you've always been so unwilling to accept help from others, unwilling to rely on your teammates?"
Kakashi fell silent, his eyes filled with confusion and contradiction. He had been trying to surpass his father's achievements, neglecting the loneliness and pain within himself. He clenched his fists, struggling to suppress his inner turmoil, but the immense pressure remained, clinging to him like a shadow, binding him tightly.
Minato's voice rang out again, gentle yet firm: "Kakashi, you don't need to surpass anyone. You just need to surpass yourself, become the best version of yourself, and be with your teammates—that's the most important thing." He stepped forward and gently patted Kakashi's shoulder. "Your journey is still long."
Kakashi slowly shifted his gaze, staring into the distance. A jumble of questions swirled in his mind, but at that moment, he seemed to understand something. He took a deep breath, his eyes hardening once more. "I will do my utmost to not let you down."
The night was deep, and a tense atmosphere filled the training grounds of Konoha Village. Kakashi stood at the front of the group, gripping the White Fang, his gaze resolute, yet his heart was filled with turmoil. Minato, Obito, and Minato stood behind him, each sensing the repression and pain Kakashi was experiencing.
"Kakashi, calm down." Minato's voice was deep and powerful as he gazed intently at Kakashi. "Your father's death is a pain that will never go away, but you cannot be bound by the shadows of the past. You cannot give up your future because of this pain."
Kakashi lowered his head, remained silent for a moment, his lips moved slightly as if he wanted to refute something, but in the end he just gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, a bitter smile appearing on his lips. "Teacher, I know you mean well. But every time I try to get rid of this shadow, my father's death feels like a mountain pressing down on me." His voice was hoarse and sounded somewhat tired, "I've never had a chance to let go."
“You’ve done your best,” Minato said firmly. “But you can’t carry this burden forever. You are a Jonin, an elite of Konoha. Only by learning to let go can you truly go further.”
A flicker of struggle crossed Kakashi's eyes. Deep down, he still couldn't accept the cause of his father's death—the White Fang of Konoha, the father he had always admired, had ultimately chosen suicide. His father's death was far from the heroic tales he had heard about as a child; it was due to an overwhelming sense of responsibility and immense psychological pressure. Kakashi couldn't understand why his father would choose to end his life in despair, while he himself was left to continue bearing the glory and pain of the White Fang of Konoha.
"Kakashi, you must accept this fact." Zhang Hai's voice was calm yet powerful, his gaze as deep as the sea. "Konoha's White Fang, to save his teammates, decided to hand over the intelligence the enemy needed. In the end, he paid the price with his life." His voice was completely unwavering, as if he had already seen through everything. "He chose to sacrifice himself for his beliefs, and those beliefs are ones you cannot inherit."
Kakashi's body trembled slightly. He looked up at Zhang Hai. "You're right," Kakashi's voice was suppressed, yet still revealed pain. "I've always wanted to surpass my father and prove that I'm stronger than him. But how can I surpass him? He did so much for the village, but in the end, he collapsed because he carried too much responsibility. I never truly understood him, and even after his death, I still live in his shadow."
Obito stood to the side and said in a low voice, "You want to surpass your father, do you also want to become a 'hero' like him?" A complex emotion was revealed in his eyes. "I have always believed that Konoha's White Fang is a true hero. He gave up his mission and chose to protect his teammates. This is the true spirit of a ninja."
Kakashi's heart skipped a beat. He turned his head and saw the sincerity in Obito's eyes. "You think Father's choice was heroic?" Kakashi's tone was cold, yet carried an undisguised pain. "But do you know? He chose suicide because he couldn't bear that responsibility. How can a ninja who can't even save himself save others?"
Obito was silent for a moment, then finally said softly, "Heroes aren't always perfect; they also have their vulnerable side. I know you're in pain, Kakashi. But some people are unwilling to bear those heavy burdens, and their choice is another kind of strength."
Kakashi's eyes welled up slightly. "You're right," he said through gritted teeth, "but can I become like my father, letting go of all responsibilities and truly living as myself?"
Zhang Hai slowly walked to Kakashi's side and said softly, "You can do it. But what you need is a team you can rely on, a team you can trust." His gaze was gentle, yet it carried an undeniable firmness. "You can't bear everything on your own, nor can you let the pain of the past determine your future path."
Minato watched this scene with a silent sense of emotion. He knew that the pain Kakashi had endured was beyond the comprehension of anyone else, but as his mentor, he knew that Kakashi would eventually emerge from the shadows and become the ninja he aspired to be.
