As soon as I put it on, I met a sickly man
Chapter 17 A bright future
It was a massive black bird, its wingspan several feet wide, emitting a frightening aura of pressure. On its back stood a mysterious figure dressed in black and wearing a conical hat.
"Who is it?" Xuanyuan Che asked vigilantly.
The man in black didn't answer, but slowly raised his head, revealing his pale and handsome face under the bamboo hat. Seeing this face, Jiang Yue's pupils shrank suddenly, and his heart was filled with shock and fear.
"Lin Ran..." She spat out the name through gritted teeth.
Lin Ran looked down at Jiang Yue with a cold smile on his face. "Jiang Yue, long time no see."
"What do you want to do?" Jiang Yue suppressed the fear in his heart and asked coldly.
"What for?" Lin Ran chuckled, "Of course I'm here to take you away."
"Don't even think about it!" Xuanyuan Che stepped forward and stood in front of Jiang Yue.
"Just you?" Lin Ran glanced at Xuanyuan Che with disdain, "You don't know your own limitations."
Before he finished speaking, Lin Ran flashed in front of Xuanyuan Che and slapped him in the chest. Xuanyuan Che was caught off guard and was knocked away by Lin Ran's palm. He fell heavily to the ground and spit out blood.
"Commander Xuanyuan!" Qiu'er exclaimed and hurried to Xuanyuan Che.
Lin Ran ignored Xuanyuan Che and Qiu'er, and turned her gaze to Jiang Yue again, with greed in her eyes. "Yu'er, come with me. I will make you the happiest woman in the world."
Jiang Yue hugged Ding Chen tightly, her eyes firm and resolute. "Even if I die, I won't go with you!"
Lin Ran's expression darkened instantly, a hint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes. "Since you're not accepting my toast, don't blame me for being rude!"
He stretched out his hand and was about to grab Jiang Yue. At this moment, an old and majestic voice came from the sky... "Stop!"
A dark figure descended among the crowd, stirring up a cloud of dust and fallen leaves. When the dust settled, everyone could see clearly that the person who had arrived was an elderly man with white hair and a youthful face. He was dressed in a simple robe and wielded a rustic wooden staff. He had the air of an immortal. It was none other than Jiang Yue's master, the old miracle doctor. His sharp gaze swept over the chaotic scene before him, his brow furrowed, and an air of unspoken authority emanated from him.
"Old doctor, how are you?" Lin Ran said with a hint of sarcasm. "I didn't expect that at your age, you still have such profound internal strength. I really admire you."
The old doctor raised his head, staring at Lin Ran with sharp eyes, and said in a cold voice: "Lin Ran, you have committed evil and aided the tyrant. Today, I will enforce justice on behalf of heaven and get rid of this scourge of yours!"
Lin Ran laughed heartily, as if she had just heard some ridiculous joke. "Just you? You think too highly of yourself, old man!"
The old doctor stopped talking and slammed the wooden staff on the ground. A powerful airflow instantly swept out and headed straight for Lin Ran. Lin Ran's face changed and he quickly urged the bird to dodge.
For a moment, the air currents surged, sand and rocks flew, and a great battle was about to break out.
The old doctor strolled over to the unconscious Ding Chen, squatted down, and carefully examined his injuries. He frowned slightly, took out a few pills from his medicine bag, and fed them to Ding Chen. After doing all this, he slowly stood up and looked at Qiu'er who was hiding beside Ding Chen. Qiu'er's eyes were red, and she looked at the old doctor with gratitude, choking with tears, "Thank you, old doctor, for saving our young lady and Mr. Ding."
The old doctor smiled kindly and said, "It's a doctor's duty to save the dying and the wounded." He turned to Jiang Yue, his eyes full of concern, "Yuer, are you okay?"
Jiang Yue raised her head from the old doctor's arms and shook her head gently: "Master, I'm fine, thanks to you for arriving in time." She caught a glimpse of the direction where Lin Qi disappeared from the corner of her eye, and there was still some fear in her heart.
The old doctor faced the onslaught of his enemies without panicking. He pulled a small porcelain bottle from his bosom, uncorked it, and sprinkled the powdered medicine into the air. The powder spread in the air, forming a pale green mist.
Those closest confidants, rushing to the front, were caught off guard by the inhalation of the powder, their throats suddenly stinging and they couldn't help but cough violently. Their vision was obscured by the mist, their fighting power was greatly reduced, and their once fierce offensive became weak and powerless.
Seeing his men at a disadvantage, Lin Qi felt even more resentful. He roared at the old doctor, "Old man, stop meddling in other people's business!"
The old doctor sneered: "Lin Qi, you are really meddling in other people's business by pestering a woman like this." He tapped the ground lightly with the wooden stick in his hand, and an invisible air wave spread out, blowing away those confidants who were still coughing.
Jiang Yue watched everything unfold before her, feeling a mixture of emotions. She knew that Lin Qi would never let this matter go. And the feud between her and Lin Qi was destined to intensify.
The old doctor turned to look at Jiang Yue, with a hint of worry in his eyes: "Yuer, this Lin Qi is very obsessed with you... You have to be more careful in the future."
Jiang Yue nodded, a hint of determination flashing in his eyes: "Master, I know. I will protect myself."
At this moment, the unconscious Ding Chen uttered a soft moan and slowly opened his eyes. He looked around in confusion, then his gaze fell on Jiang Yue. He called out weakly, "Miss Jiang... Miss Jiang..."
Jiang Yue quickly walked over to Ding Chen and asked with concern, "Mr. Ding, how do you feel?"
Ding Chen forced a smile: "I'm fine... Thank you Miss Jiang for your concern..."
The old doctor walked over to Ding Chen and checked his injuries again. He breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that he was fine. He looked at Lin Ran and said coldly, "I will remember what happened today. Don't harass my disciple again. Otherwise..." The old doctor didn't say anything else, but the warning in his tone was self-evident.
Lin Ran's face was gloomy. He knew that he couldn't take Jiang Yue away today, so he could only glare at the old doctor hatefully. Then he rode the black bird and disappeared into the night with the rest of his confidants.
The old doctor looked at the direction they left, a gleam in his eyes. He turned to look at Jiang Yue and said slowly, "Yuer, let's go too."
Jiang Yue nodded, supported Ding Chen, and left with the old doctor. Qiu'er followed them silently, feeling uncertain about the future.
