You are unlucky and I am tough
Chapter 67 Brother Nanxing is Uncomfortable
The old scholar's land at the foot of Beishan Mountain has been sold. The buyer in the town used the land to grow soybeans. He has been planting for several days, and today there are still more than a dozen people busy there.
Cheng Shuang and his friends' five acres of land are separated from the other side by a stream, and the two sides do not interfere with each other.
Wei Qinglang was responsible for digging holes and loosening the soil. There was no water in the field and the soil was very soft. Every time he dug a hole with a hoe, he would make a hole. He calculated that the distance between each hole was about one foot, and then he started working hard with the hoe. Soon he had dug about two mu of land.
Cheng Shuang brought a basket of watermelon seeds, divided the seeds among the three children, and taught them how to sow the seeds in the pits. She and Cheng Pan were responsible for covering the soil with a small shovel and watering respectively.
It is very convenient to have water nearby. You can draw water directly from the stream with a wooden bucket and pour a little water into each pit with a gourd ladle.
The family divided the work and started to get busy. Only about half an hour later, Luo Cuihua hurried over with a hoe on her back.
She shouted from a distance: "Sister Pan'er, I'm here to help you."
Wei Qinglang, who was in charge of digging the pit, was far away from Cheng Shuang. After seeing Luo Cuihua, he frowned and looked at Cheng Shuang. Cheng Shuang shook his head at him, signaling him to stay calm.
"Sister Cuihua, why are you here?"
When Luo Cuihua approached, Cheng Pan, who was watering the plants, pretended to be puzzled and asked, his attitude was much better than the previous two days.
Because early this morning, Cheng Shuang called her and Wei Nanxing over and told them how to solve the problem of Luo Cuihua, and she needed her simple cooperation.
"I'm here to help you." Luo Cuihua took Cheng Pan's hand familiarly and glanced around, "Hey, why isn't Nanxing here?"
Cheng Pan resisted the urge to pull his hand away and whispered to her, "Before leaving, Brother Nanxing said he wasn't feeling well, so he stayed home to rest."
When Luo Cuihua heard this, her eyes rolled and she wanted to leave. This was such a good opportunity, so she could just go and take care of it.
Cheng Shuang squatted on the ground with the small shovel in her hand and said with a kind smile, "Cuihua, thank you for coming to help. If you have a hoe, please help dig the holes. Just dig at one-foot intervals. They don't need to be too deep."
"Oh... okay."
Luo Cuihua's smile was a little forced. She was the one who came to help Cheng Pan, and she was too embarrassed to just turn around and leave, so she carried a hoe and went to help dig the hole.
She was very strong and swung the hoe very fast, even faster than Wei Qinglang. Cheng Shuang was so happy watching her that she wanted to laugh. It would be a waste not to use the labor force that was delivered to her doorstep.
The sun gradually rose higher and the weather became hotter. Everyone was sweating profusely, but no one stopped working.
At noon, Cheng Shuang called out, "Let's take a break and have something to eat."
Then the family went to the stream to wash their hands and feet, and sat under the shade of the trees by the field to eat the white flour cakes they brought out in the morning.
Cheng Shuang handed a pancake to Luo Cuihua, "Cuihua, thank you. With your help, things are much faster. We can finish digging the pits for the three acres of land here by the afternoon."
Luo Cuihua was exhausted and sweating. Without Wei Nanxing, she had wanted to run away long ago, so why would she stay and help for nothing?
She pulled the corner of her mouth and said, "Sister Cheng Shuang, I remembered that I have something to do at home, so I can't stay to help this afternoon."
After saying that, she ate the pancake in big mouthfuls, carried her hoe and left.
Wei Qinglang sat on the edge of the field, his trouser legs rolled up, and took a bite of the pancake in his hand, "Your solution is to make her work for free?
Then what? What are you going to do with Nanxing at home? "
Cheng Shuang took the water bag from Wei Xinyi and drank from it, continuing to keep her in suspense. "Why are you so anxious? You'll know later."
Luo Cuihua ran all the way home, threw the hoe into the yard, and went straight to the bamboo house.
It was noon and most of the villagers had gone home for dinner. She looked around and saw that there was no one around, so she raised her hand and knocked on the gate. But just as she knocked, the door opened by itself.
The courtyard door was not locked from the inside. Luo Cuihua exclaimed and pushed the door open and walked in.
"Nanxing, Nanxing."
Turning around and closing the door, Luo Cuihua called out to the yard twice, "Your brother and sister-in-law asked me to come and see if you're okay. Are you feeling better now?"
Wei Nanxing, who was reading a book in the room, immediately ran to the window when he heard the noise and saw the people in the yard through the crack in the window.
He was a little nervous, and followed Cheng Shuang's instructions to keep quiet and pretend that no one was home.
Luo Cuihua shouted a few more times, but the yard was quiet and no one responded. She was very confused. Could it be that the person was not at home and had gone out?
She looked at the gate again and thought that Wei Nanxing must have gone out, so she wanted to sit in the yard and wait for him to come back.
Then she turned around and saw something on the table in the yard, shining silver in the sun, almost blinding her eyes.
I walked in quickly and saw that it was a silver hairpin.
Luo Cuihua's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. She had never seen such a beautiful hairpin in her life. She reached out and picked it up, looking at it over and over again.
The more she looked at it, the more she liked it. Luo Cuihua's eyes rolled around, she stuffed the thing into her arms, and quickly left the yard.
As soon as Luo Cuihua left, Wei Nanxing opened the door and walked out of the room. He looked at the empty table with a very unhappy expression.
When his sister-in-law told him this method, he thought it would be difficult to succeed. They were all from the same village. Even though Luo Cuihua was very annoying, he didn't think badly of her. He didn't expect that he would really take the hairpin away.
He immediately went to Luo's house as Cheng Shuang said. That was the hairpin his brother bought for his sister-in-law, so he had to keep a close eye on it and not lose it.
He followed carefully all the way and watched Luo Cuihua run back home. Wei Nanxing ran to the foot of Beishan Mountain to find Cheng Shuang without stopping.
"Sister-in-law, she took the things away." Wei Nanxing ran out of breath and was sweating profusely from exhaustion.
"Did she really take it?" Cheng Pan couldn't believe it. She thought Luo Cuihua was just shameless, but she didn't expect her to actually dare to steal things.
Cheng Shuang smiled. All this was within her expectations. The Luo family had raised their daughter like this, so it was not surprising that she would steal things.
She turned to look at Wei Qinglang and waved at him, "I'll need your help with the next thing. You and Nanxing go to the Luo family and keep watch. If the Luo family members don't go out, we'll search their houses at night. If they go out to pawn their belongings, you can sneak up on them and bring them back with a sack."
"What on earth is going on? What did Luo Cuihua take from our house?"
Wei Qinglang was completely confused. He just drank too much last night and went to bed early. Why did they all do something without telling him?
Cheng Shuang pushed him and said, "Let Nanxing explain it to you later. Go quickly."
Wei Qinglang had no choice but to do as he was told. He rushed to the Luo family with Wei Nanxing and guarded the backyard wall next to the Luo family.
While he was waiting, he listened to Wei Nanxing's explanation of the whole incident. He finally understood why Cheng Shuang had bought a hairpin that was not her style yesterday and even wore it to the Xu family to show off.
It turned out that I already had an idea at that time, but I deliberately kept it a secret and didn't tell him.
The two brothers waited for more than half an hour, but they didn't expect that Luo Erniu actually went out.
I don't know what he was holding in his arms, but with a happy smile on his face, he hurried out of the village and headed towards Goutou Town.
Wei Qinglang sent Wei Nanxing back to inform Cheng Shuang, and followed Luo Erniu alone.
