Flash Marriage with Dr. Huo

Chapter 274 Western Restaurant in Victoria Harbour

Bo Jiayin was stunned for a moment, then nodded in agreement. She was a little excited, but she didn't dare show it. Although she knew that this meal was just a courtesy arrangement by Mr. Gu and had nothing to do with personal feelings.

Dinner was arranged in a Western restaurant overlooking Victoria Harbour, with an elegant environment and soft lighting.

Bo Jiayin took out Tang Xiaqing's wedding invitation from her bag and handed it to Mr. Gu.

Mr. Gu took the invitation, his eyes lingered on it for a few seconds, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a forced smile.

He sighed softly, his tone tinged with sarcasm, "Boss Tang didn't even invite me personally. That's not sincere enough."

Bo Jiayin noticed the change in Mr. Gu's mood and felt a little uneasy.

Confused, she pulled out her phone and sent Tang Xiaqing a message: "Boss Gu seems a little bothered by your failure to personally invite him. Does that imply you're not sincere enough? Will it affect the cooperation between the two groups?"

Not long after, Tang Xiaqing replied with three simple words: "Got it."

A moment later, Tang Xiaqing took the initiative to send a message to Mr. Gu, her tone gentle but formal: "Mr. Gu, I sincerely invite you to attend my wedding."

Mr. Gu looked at the message on the phone screen, was silent for two seconds, and finally typed a line of words and sent it: "I won't come. I'm afraid I will be too impulsive at the wedding and want to snatch you away."

Then he looked up and out the window. The city lights were bright in the night, but they could not illuminate the haze in his heart.

"I can't calm down when I see the one I love marrying another man. I'm not that magnanimous." Gu Zhian thought to himself, as if these words had been suppressed in his heart for too long.

Sitting across from him, Bo Jiayin stared at him quietly, her fingers gently stroking the rim of the cup. Her long hair fell softly on her shoulders, her eyes gentle as she asked, "Mr. Gu, are you okay?" Bo Jiayin asked softly, a hint of concern in her voice.

"It's okay. I was just thinking about next week's business. I'm going on a business trip to the United States. I may have to apologize to your President Tang. I don't have time." Gu Zhian came back to his senses and responded.

Gu Zhian glanced at Bo Jiayin in front of him, quickly regained his composure, and quickly sent a message to Tang Xiaqing: "Haha, Tangtang, I was just kidding. I have a new project next week that I need to discuss in the United States, so I won't be able to join you. I wish you and Mr. Huo happiness!"

After witnessing Tang Xiaqing entering into marriage with someone else, Mr. Gu felt that there was an insurmountable hurdle in his heart.

He couldn't convince himself to face such a scene, nor could he accept that she was about to become someone else's wife.

Perhaps, escape is his only option.

Next, Mr. Gu sat opposite Bo Jiayin, cutting steak. He still didn't say much, only occasionally asking a few questions about the cooperation.

Gu Zhian's profile looked particularly handsome under the soft light. His high nose bridge, deep eye sockets, and thin lips were tightly pursed. He was like an iceberg, making it difficult for people to approach him. Bo Jiayin tried several times to open up the topic, hoping to make the atmosphere less awkward.

"Mr. Gu, what type of bags do you usually like?" Bo Jiayin asked with a smile, trying to start the conversation with work.

Mr. Gu looked up at her and said calmly, "You can talk to Manager Wu. I don't know much about these things."

Bo Jiayin was a little embarrassed, but continued, "So what do you like to do in your spare time? I heard there are many great places to relax in Hong Kong."

Mr. Gu put down his knife and fork, his tone still cold, but polite: "I'm very busy with work and don't have much time to relax. If Bo Jiayin needs it, I can ask my assistant Jessica to send you a travel plan for Hong Kong, or if you want to go somewhere, I can arrange for someone to take you around."

Bo Jiayin felt a little disappointed, but she still kept smiling. She knew that the distance between her and Mr. Gu was not just the width of the dining table, but also the gap in status and personality.

Gu Zhian remained calm the entire time. He said he wanted to drive, so he didn't drink a drop of alcohol, only a few drinks, and his mind was clear.

She didn't dare to expect anything, she just hoped that she could take advantage of this opportunity to cooperate with him to see him more and hear him say more.

As the meal was almost over, Bo Jiayin suddenly felt dizzy and her cheeks began to feel hot. She raised her hand and touched her forehead; it was alarmingly hot.

She tried to hide her discomfort, but Mr. Gu immediately noticed her abnormality.

"Are you not feeling well?" He put down his knife and fork, frowning slightly.

Bo Jiayin forced a smile and said, "Maybe I'm a little tired, it's okay."

Mr. Gu didn't say much. Seeing that her face looked strange, he stood up, walked to her side, and reached out to touch her forehead.

"You seem to have a fever." His voice remained calm, but with a hint of determination in his tone, "I'll take you to the hospital."

Bo Jiayin wanted to refuse, but she suddenly felt a little drowsy at this moment.

Mr. Gu helped her out of the restaurant. It was raining outside. He took off his suit jacket, put it on her, and then helped her into the car steadily.

Bo Jiayin felt that the fresh scent on Mr. Gu's suit was pleasant.

The air in the car was a little heavy, and Bo Jiayin leaned back in the seat, feeling her head growing heavier. Mr. Gu drove very steadily, with almost no bumps, but she still felt dizzy.

She closed her eyes, the only sound in her ears being the sound of raindrops hitting the car window, like some distant melody.

When they arrived at the hospital, Mr. Gu took her directly to the emergency room. After examination, the doctor confirmed that she had a fever caused by a cold and needed an IV.

Bo Jiayin lay on the hospital bed, a needle in her hand, feeling drowsy. She looked at Mr. Gu standing by the bed, and a strange emotion suddenly surged in her heart.

"Mr. Gu, don't go..." she said softly, her voice a little hoarse.

Mr. Gu looked down at her, his eyes still calm, but his tone softened a little: "You need to rest, I will arrange for someone to take care of you."

Bo Jiayin shook her head and reached out to grab his sleeve.

Her fingers were a little weak, but she clenched them tightly, as if she was afraid that once he left, she would fall into endless darkness.

"Don't go..." she repeated, a hint of pleading in her voice.

Mr. Gu was silent for a moment, and finally gently pried her hands apart.

He took out his phone and dialed a number. "Ms. Bo from Tanghai Group is in the hospital. Please come as soon as possible..." He gave a few brief instructions. Not long after, a smartly dressed Jessica walked in with a professional smile on her face.

"Mr. Gu, let me take care of Ms. Bo." She said in a clear and crisp voice.

Mr. Gu nodded, turned to Bo Jiayin and said, "This is Jessica, my assistant. She will take care of you. Just tell her if you need anything."

Jessica sat on the edge of the bed and said softly, "Hello, Ms. Bo, if you need anything else, please feel free to let me know."

Bo Jiayin shook her head and said softly, "No more, thank you."

She knew she had no reason to let him stay, but she couldn't let go of that inexplicable feeling of admiration.

Mr. Gu turned and left.

Mr. Gu walked to the hospital entrance. The rain poured down, hitting his shoulders and running down his hair. The invitation in his hand was soaked by the rain, and the corners were slightly curled.

In Gu Zhian's memory, Tang Xiaqing was always so cheerful, with a smile as bright as the sun. Her witty remarks often made him laugh, and even when he was most tired, she could use a joke to relax him.

The rain blurred his vision and his memory. He remembered her once saying she loved rainy days because they washed away all the dust, making the world seem like a fresh start. But now, the rain was like an invisible knife. Even though he knew the ending was already decided, seeing Tang Tang's wedding invitation in person still made his heart skip a beat.

He walked over to the car, opened the door, and climbed into the driver's seat. The car was silent, save for the sound of raindrops hitting the windows. He looked down at the invitation in his hand, silent for a moment, and finally placed it gently on the passenger seat.

The car drove into the rain and disappeared at the end of the street.
