Flash Marriage with Dr. Huo

Chapter 168 Dr. Zhao’s Conspiracy

The medical seminar in Beijing concluded successfully with lively academic exchanges.

The next evening, the three doctors who participated in the seminar - Dr. Huo, Dr. Li and Dr. Zhang - boarded the return flight together.

The lights in the cabin were soft, and passengers found their seats one after another, ready to start a peaceful air journey.

When Dr. Huo found his seat and sat down, he unexpectedly discovered that Dr. Zhao was sitting next to him.

Zhao Wan sat there quietly, her long hair cascading over her shoulders like a waterfall. Under the soft light, every strand of hair glowed with a delicate luster.

At this moment, in the cabin, Dr. Huo couldn't help but become a little more alert. After all, what happened last night was still vivid in his mind, and he already felt that Zhao Wan was a woman with deep scheming.

Dr. Zhao seemed to sense Dr. Huo's subtle change. She nodded slightly in a friendly manner, breaking the silence. "Dr. Huo, have a pleasant flight. I hope we all have a comfortable flight."

Dr. Huo hesitated for a moment, then politely responded, "Thank you."

Before the plane took off, Zhao Wan took out her cell phone and showed a photo to Dr. Huo.

Dr. Huo took a closer look and was stunned.

The scene in the photo shows him in a hotel room, and on the bed. His suit was placed on the bed, and there were several pages of documents scattered beside the bed. These were the research materials he had stayed up late to review last night.

There was nothing unusual about the scene, but being photographed by others in such a private space made him feel inexplicably uneasy and wary.

Dr. Huo frowned and asked, "Dr. Zhao, what's going on?" His tone was mixed with confusion and a hint of vigilance.

Dr. Zhao responded: "Dr. Huo, please don't misunderstand me. I took this photo accidentally. But I don't know what you would think if I sent it to your wife and she saw that I might have entered your hotel room and taken a photo on the bed."

"Are you threatening me?"

"Director Huo, what do you think? I just want to be the second author of your SCI paper. Besides, I'm willing to spend the night with you, but you didn't want to. If you want to change your mind, it's not too late. I do have a good impression of you."

Dr. Zhao's words directly pierced Dr. Huo's psychological defenses.

Faced with this sudden provocation, Dr. Huo's fury erupted like a volcano. "Dr. Zhao, did you take that photo outside my door last night? I didn't let you in. Are you trying to coerce me into compromise? I have to tell you that academic research should be based on fairness and impartiality. Any form of academic corruption is intolerable! How did you earn your doctorate in medicine?" His voice was filled with doubt.

Dr. Zhao's expression changed slightly when she heard this. She seemed to have not expected Dr. Huo to react so violently.

"Dr. Huo, I just wanted to remind you that you're a highly respected department director. As a public figure, you need to always be mindful of your image and behavior. Sometimes, a seemingly insignificant incident can cause a major uproar and affect our careers, don't you think? Besides, everyone knows we're on a business trip together this time."

Doctor Zhao looked at Doctor Huo's stern expression, paused, and continued, "I know women are easily jealous. If I send a few photos to your wife, aren't you afraid that she will make a scene at the hospital?"

After a long moment, Dr. Huo slowed down his tone, his face darkening as he said seriously, "Academic corruption is trying to get me? Do you really dare to report it? Then try it."
