Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 614: Can I control it?
He was shocked, knowing he had discovered an important clue. Quickly following the footprints, he came to a corner of the camp, where there was a seemingly inconspicuous hut. The door of the hut was slightly open, and through the gap, he could see a faint light from inside. Liu San walked over without hesitation and gently pushed the door open.
Inside the room, a ragged man sat absorbed in writing something. He didn't notice Liu San's arrival and remained buried in his work. Liu San quietly approached, suddenly reaching out and grabbing his shoulder, shoving him to the ground.
"Who are you?" Liu San asked coldly, with a hint of threat in his tone.
The man looked up in surprise, a flash of panic in his eyes, and tried to break free, but Liu San's strength far exceeded his, and he suppressed him in an instant.
"You...you...I'm not one of yours, I'm just here..." The man stammered, his tone full of fear.
Liu San's eyes gradually turned cold. He gripped the hilt of his knife tightly and whispered, "Don't lie to me anymore. I know you're the enemy's spy."
The man looked at Liu San in horror, his eyes filled with endless fear. "I... I didn't mean to do that, really... I was just passing on information... I had no choice..."
"Passing on the message?" Liu San sneered, "Do you know what you've done? You betrayed us and killed countless brothers!"
The man was stunned, his eyes revealing a hint of regret, but more of despair. "I have no choice. My family is being held hostage by the enemy, and they are threatening me..."
A complex emotion flashed across Liu San's eyes, but then he calmed down and raised the knife in his hand.
"You still have a chance to survive. Tell me how the enemy transmits information and how they know our actions."
The man shook his head desperately, as if trying to break free from the shackles of fate. "I can't say, I... I really can't..."
Liu San's brows furrowed, his anger barely contained. He pressed the man's shoulders hard, his tone growing colder. "If you don't tell me, everyone will die. Do you dare to bet?"
The man's eyes were filled with fear, tears already blurring his vision. He struggled and whispered, "I... I was just delivering a message to someone. That messenger... he... he's in our team."
"Are you sure?" Qin Cang's voice suddenly interrupted Liu San's thoughts, and there was a cold majesty in his low tone.
Liu San regained consciousness and stared directly at Qin Cang, his gaze filled with determination and unease. "The messenger said he was just delivering a message to someone... but I know deep down that things are far more complicated than he lets on."
Qin Cang didn't rush to speak. His eyes remained deep, as if he were lost in thought. That calm, precise look seemed to instantly see through every detail of a person's heart. Liu San knew that this man never made a decision without certainty. Every move he made was driven by unshakable conviction.
"Let's go look for him." Qin Cang finally spoke, his tone was calm, but the commanding tone seemed particularly heavy.
Liu San's heart tightened. He knew Qin Cang had made his decision, and he would follow suit. With this in mind, the two began their investigation into the conspiracy. They moved silently through the night, avoiding the sight of most soldiers, like two cheetahs roaming in the darkness, agile and calm.
The cold night wind still raged, its whistling echoing through the trees, as if foreshadowing some ominous omen. Liu San's heartbeat quickened, his uneasiness almost uncontrollable. He imagined how dangerous their situation would become if the enemy, as the traitor had claimed, had already been lurking among them.
His fingers tingled slightly, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. Had those brothers who had once fought side by side long since been infiltrated by the enemy, become pawns of betrayal? Every soldier, every cry, could be the signal of a mole, the key to the enemy's control. He had no way to confirm it, nor could he let go of this suspicion.
"Are you scared?" Qin Cang suddenly spoke, his voice still as calm as water, but Liu San could hear a hint of challenge in it.
Liu San lowered his head and slowly shook it. "I was just wondering how deeply the enemy has penetrated." His voice was hoarse, as if he was suppressing some emotion. "If it's true as you say, we're not just facing a battle in front of us, but an enemy lurking deep in the darkness."
Qin Cang didn't respond, but walked forward silently. His back remained upright and resolute, his composure and calmness seeming to be able to withstand any cold and any possible threat.
The two men skirted the outskirts of the camp and quietly entered the edge of the enemy's position. In this dark world, everything around them seemed suffocatingly quiet. Only the sound of the wind in the trees and the faint voices of soldiers talking in the distance reminded them that they were still under enemy surveillance.
Liu San's eyes scanned the surroundings, his mind replaying every word of the traitor. The messenger, the messenger arranged by the enemy, who was he? If such a channel truly existed, then their every move could be predicted, perhaps even manipulated. He wondered if he truly had the courage to face this unfathomable mystery. If the enemy could control everything about them, then how could their life and death be theirs?
"Wait a moment." Qin Cang suddenly stopped and reminded Liu San in a low voice.
Liu San's gaze quickly turned forward, and he saw a faint light coming from the tent ahead. Several soldiers were talking in low voices, seemingly in no hurry to rest. Liu San asked softly, "Do you want to go in?"
Qin Cang nodded slightly and said, "Let's go in and take a look."
The two men approached the tent silently. Liu San held his breath, his heartbeat accelerating with every step. The tent curtain swayed slightly, and through the gap, they could clearly see a scene: a soldier was quickly flipping through a tattered book, and on the table next to him, several letters were placed.
Liu San's heart skipped a beat. These letters were clearly not ordinary correspondence. His eyes involuntarily swept towards Qin Cang, his eyes full of questions.
Qin Cang raised his hand slightly, signaling Liu San to remain silent. Then, he drew a dagger from his waist, gently cut open the tent curtain, and carefully slipped inside. Liu San followed closely behind, his figure as silent as a ghost.
The soldier was completely unaware of their arrival and was still immersed in his own world, flipping through the letter in his hand. Qin Cang and Liu San slowly approached, staring at the soldier and the letter on the table, their hearts filled with uneasiness.
