Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 561 For the Same Goal
Liu San took a sip of wine, his eyes still calm. "Do you think he will really ruin everything? Qin Cang, young people always need to experience some setbacks. You and I have had such moments before, and some were even more radical than him."
Qin Cang was silent for a while, and finally let go of the depression in his heart, "I know what you mean. But I really don't want him to repeat our mistakes. I just saw too clearly that his impulsiveness has begun to threaten our entire team."
Liu San looked at him, a complicated look in his eyes. "What do you want to do?"
Qin Cang's gaze grew sharp, filled with determination. "Give him a chance, let him re-evaluate himself. If he doesn't change, no matter how much potential he has or how outstanding he is, I don't want him to stay on the team anymore."
Liu San didn't respond immediately. He was silent for a moment before speaking, "You know, this kind of decision won't be easy."
"I know." Qin Cang stood up, his back to Liu San, his eyes gleaming with unquestionable determination. "But, whether it's me, you, or anyone else, we can't indulge him just because of momentary emotion. This isn't just for him, but for the future of our entire team."
Liu San stood up and patted Qin Cang on the shoulder. "You're right. I shouldn't have neglected more important things because of my momentary enthusiasm."
The two walked side by side back to the camp, where the scene was still bustling. Xiao Hu was sitting by the fire, chatting with several young soldiers, a confident and slightly ostentatious smile on his face. Seeing Qin Cang approaching, he stood up involuntarily and greeted him.
"Captain, Liu San." Xiaohu's smile was provocative. "Why, you want to talk to me about your ideals?"
Qin Cang looked at his childish yet fearless face, feeling somewhat helpless. He knew that Xiao Hu didn't really not understand the rules, but that he was just too self-righteous and thought everything could be solved with force, not realizing that true strength came from the depth and accumulation of one's inner strength.
"You've been going too far lately." Qin Cang's voice was calm, but the seriousness in it revealed an unconcealable threat.
Xiaohu seemed a little surprised, and the smile on his face froze instantly. "Did I go too far? Captain, do you think I did something wrong?"
"You know what you did wrong." Qin Cang said in a low voice, "However, I don't intend to lecture you today. I think maybe I should give you a chance to experience for yourself what it means to 'know when to stop'."
Liu San chuckled softly, "Xiao Hu, sometimes you're like a powder keg, ready to explode at any moment. Maybe you should learn how to light the fire slowly, and not wait until you're reduced to a pile of rubble."
Xiaohu's expression changed slightly, a flicker of resentment and anger in his eyes. "You know I'm capable, and I can lead everyone through this difficult situation. Why can't you just let me take action?"
"Strength is not the only criterion." Qin Cang's tone became more serious. "If everyone was like you, acting only on impulse and passion, then our team would have collapsed long ago."
A flash of anger flashed in Xiaohu's eyes, but he did not refute. He knew that every word Qin Cang said was not said casually.
"I know you look down on me and think I'm immature." Xiaohu lowered his head, his tone a little low, "But I really want to do something for the team."
"Do something?" Qin Cang sneered. "If you're truly committed to the team, the first thing you need to learn is calmness and reflection." He paused, his eyes suddenly softening. "Young man, impulsiveness and radicalism are good things, but you must understand that the team's future depends not only on individual strength, but also on everyone's wisdom and cooperation. If you're truly determined, first learn how to fight alongside everyone."
Liu San didn't say anything, but patted Xiaohu on the shoulder and said, "You still have a chance. Remember, opportunities won't always be in front of you."
The night wind picked up, and a damp chill filled the air. The campfire still flickered, the crackling of burning wood as if engaging in a silent dialogue with the still night. However, Qin Cang's heart was far from as calm as this peaceful exterior.
He stood outside the tent, his back to the firelight, his hands in his pockets, looking down at his toes. Liu San's words echoed in his ears, his calm, almost emotionless words making him feel even more depressed. He couldn't help but feel a repressed emotion spreading from his chest, like an unignorable black fog, gradually engulfing him.
Liu San, the person he once thought understood him best, had recently begun to make him feel an inexplicable strangeness. Qin Cang felt that the tacit understanding they once shared, seemingly crumbling at some point. Liu San's silence, calmness, and lukewarm attitude seemed to remind him: some things shouldn't be delved into.
The rift between them was no longer a simple disagreement on the surface, but had gradually evolved into an intractable contradiction. Qin Cang considered himself not one to rush for quick success, but he had to admit that more and more times, he felt he was being pushed to the point of no return. Liu San, on the other hand, seemed to have never felt the pressure, standing still like a mountain, observing all this with a cold eye.
"Do you also think I'm too excited?" Qin Cang suddenly spoke in a low voice with a hint of helplessness.
Hearing footsteps behind him, Qin Cang did not turn around. He knew that it was Liu San standing there, staring at him quietly.
"If you have any doubts in your mind, just say it." Liu San's voice was still calm, as if every word he said was well thought out and accurate.
Qin Cang took a deep breath, turned around, and looked straight at Liu San, "Don't you think we are a little lost now? In the beginning, we walked here together, for the same goal. And now——"
He paused, his eyes becoming somewhat confused. "Now, I'm beginning to wonder if we're focusing too much on the immediate situation and ignoring the bigger picture."
Liu San still had no expression, but his deep eyes stared at him, as if waiting for him to continue speaking.
Anxiety welled up in Qin Cang's heart. He quickly walked to the fire, reached out and picked up a piece of wood, and twirled it casually in the flames, his eyes unable to focus on the firelight. "Liu San, you keep saying to stay calm and stay rational, but I know that sometimes calmness is not the only option." His voice gradually became agitated. "You don't understand, it's not that I don't want to be calm, but some things can't wait!"
