Xiaohu gripped his gun tightly, a layer of sweat forming on his forehead. His breathing was steady, but his heartbeat was much faster than usual. He knew that in the upcoming battle, the slightest mistake could lead to annihilation of his entire army.

Liu San led the second team and hid behind a bunker farther away. Their mission was to be ready to provide fire support at any time and to cover the retreat when necessary.

Ahead, the enemy camp finally came into view. A few tents were scattered about, and the faint silhouettes of patrolling soldiers could be seen. The firelight was weak, but it still revealed the shadows of the sentries. They showed no particular vigilance, as if they had not anticipated an attack tonight.

Qin Cang narrowed his eyes, and a faint curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.

"This time... I'll let you experience the feeling of being caught off guard."

He slowly raised his hand, pointed forward, and whispered an order: "Prepare for action."

The soldiers quietly dispersed, each taking up their ambush positions. The air seemed to freeze, leaving only the sound of heartbeats echoing in the night.

Qin Cang crouched beneath an old locust tree, his gaze piercing the night, quietly observing the movements of the enemy camp. The night breeze, carrying the faint scent of earth and firewood, ruffled his hair across his forehead. He narrowed his eyes, carefully observing the distribution of sentries around the camp, the rhythm of patrols, and the number of tents faintly visible in the firelight.

"Captain Qin, can I go in with you and take a look?" A deep voice boomed from beside him. It was Liu Hu—for this operation, he, like Qin Cang, was a core member responsible for the assault. Liu Hu's voice was extremely low, yet a hint of eager excitement still lingered. He was a bold man by nature, and he never liked to wait passively. The opportunity to first assess the enemy's situation gave him greater confidence.

Qin Cang didn't immediately agree, instead continuing to stare at the patrolling sentry in the distance. His gaze sharp as a knife, he rapidly deduced the risks and benefits of the action. He knew that if he could first infiltrate the camp and gain a firm understanding of its strengths and weaknesses, the subsequent raid would be more secure. But at the same time, he also knew that if this move was not taken well, they would likely be exposed prematurely.

After pondering for a moment, he finally whispered, "Okay, but we'll just dive in and take a look. We won't do anything unnecessary."

Liu Hu nodded, a faint smile on his lips: "Don't worry, I won't be impulsive."

Qin Cang glanced at him, knowing that this guy sometimes said something but couldn't hold back in his actions. But there was no other way at the moment. Liu Hu's skills were among the best in the team, and he was highly adaptable and could react quickly in critical moments. He was a suitable partner.

"Let's go." Qin Cang uttered a word softly, and then his figure flashed and merged into the darkness.

Liu Hu followed closely behind. Their movements were light and swift, like two ghosts streaking through the night. They crept along the low-lying terrain, each step carefully treading on the soft earth, making as little noise as possible. When they were about twenty meters from the enemy camp, Qin Cang raised his hand to signal them to stop, and the two of them hid behind a bush.

"There is a sentry." Liu Hu said in a low voice, his eyes fixed on a patrol soldier outside the camp.

The sentry was holding a gun in his hand, walking slowly with a somewhat distracted look. It was obvious that he was used to this patrol mode and was not sufficiently alert to the surrounding environment.

Qin Cang observed for a few seconds and whispered, "Wait until he turns around, then we'll go over there immediately."

Liu Hu licked his lips and nodded. The two held their breath like cheetahs, waiting for the most appropriate moment.

After a few seconds, the sentry yawned, turned and walked in another direction.

"go!"

Qin Cang gave a command, and two dark shadows leaped out, darting past close to the ground. In just two breaths, they had arrived behind a tent. Liu Hu's breathing was a little rapid, but his eyes were filled with excitement. He glanced around and asked in a low voice, "What should we do next?"

Qin Cang squatted down, put his ear to the tent fabric, and listened carefully to the movements inside. His hearing was extremely sharp, and he could clearly distinguish the number of people in the tent and the content of their conversation.

There were at least three people inside, talking in low voices. Their tone wasn't tense, but rather lazy, and occasionally one could hear someone tapping the ground with a rifle butt, making a dull thud.

"It seems they are really careless." Liu Hu mocked in a low voice.

Qin Cang ignored him and continued to observe the surrounding situation. He found that the enemy camp was not as densely packed as he had imagined. The distance between the tents was large, and the patrol frequency was not high. This showed that the enemy was confident in their own safety. They might not even consider this area as a real battlefield, but more as a temporary garrison.

"This is a good thing for us." Qin Cang quickly judged in his mind, "If we act quickly enough, we can cause them great damage before they can react."

Liu Hu obviously realized this as well. He lowered his voice and asked, "Do you want to go in and take a look?"

Qin Cang shook his head: "No need. We are here to explore, not to take risks."

He glanced around and noticed a supply truck not far away. The truck was covered with a thick layer of canvas, but the outline underneath the canvas revealed the shapes of some ammunition boxes.

Qin Cang's eyes lit up, and he whispered, "There might be their ammunition in that car."

Liu Hu followed his gaze and sneered, "It would be interesting if we could destroy this car before the operation begins."

Qin Cang nodded slightly, his fingers gently stroking the handle of the gun, and he was already thinking about how to take advantage of this.

But he knew that now was not the time to take action.

"Go back first." He whispered, "We'll do it tomorrow."

Although Liu Hu felt somewhat unwilling, he also knew he couldn't create unnecessary complications. He nodded and followed Qin Cang back the way he had come. The two figures blended into the night again, disappearing silently into the forest.

When they returned to the camp, Liu San and Xiao Hu were already waiting by the campfire. Seeing them come back, Xiao Hu immediately came up to them and asked, "How's it going?"

Qin Cang didn't rush to answer, but glanced at Liu San. Liu San's face was gloomy, and he was obviously dissatisfied because they didn't take him with them to explore the way.

Qin Cang said calmly: "The enemy's defenses are not strict, patrols are loose, and the distances between camps are large."

Xiaohu's eyes lit up: "Then we can attack at night?"

Liu San sneered, "Humph, you think you can win with just these? Qin Cang, you don't really think the enemy is so stupid, do you?"

Qin Cang glanced at him, his tone still calm: "The enemy is not stupid, they just let their guard down temporarily. But that doesn't mean they won't regain their vigilance tomorrow. Therefore, our window of opportunity is very short, and we must seize it."
