Chapter 504 Disappearing into the Night
Xiaohu glanced at Qin Cang, then turned to look at Liu San, who stood not far away. Hesitation and confusion were still evident in his eyes. He knew Qin Cang's words made sense, but he couldn't help but feel a wave of unease. Liu San's appearance had disrupted their plans, and his current state made Xiaohu uneasy. They couldn't ignore Liu San's warning, but at the same time, they couldn't make hasty decisions based on momentary emotion.
"Then what should we do next?" Xiaohu's tone was still a little low. He was unwilling to just stagnate like this.
"Find a place to hide first." Qin Cang's eyes gradually became sharper. "In this situation, the safest thing to do is to temporarily avoid the enemy's sight and make a decision after the situation becomes clear. Liu San is injured, and his movements are restricted. We have to handle it carefully from now on."
Xiao Hu was fully aware of Qin Cang's considerations and didn't argue much. The two of them had worked together many times, and they already had a deep trust in each other. Although they often had different ideas at critical moments, they always chose the most appropriate course of action. He didn't ask any more questions, but nodded: "As you wish."
Qin Cang turned to Liu San, his doubts growing even deeper. Liu San stood there, seemingly calm on the surface, but Qin Cang could see a hint of unease and confusion in the flicker of his eyes. His silence seemed to conceal a tremendous pressure, not just from external threats, but more importantly, from his own inner struggle.
"Liu San, come with us first." Qin Cang ordered in a low voice. He did not ask Liu San any more questions, maintaining a calm and distant attitude. At this moment, he could not completely trust Liu San, but he did not want to turn him away. After all, the information he had just brought back was crucial to them.
Liu San was stunned for a moment, obviously not expecting Qin Cang to make such a decision. He seemed to want to refute, but after seeing the determined eyes of Qin Cang and Xiao Hu, he immediately understood - no matter what his current state was, the decision of these two people had been made.
"Okay." Liu San finally lowered his head, his voice becoming heavy. "I'll go with you."
For the next few minutes, the air became tense. The three of them worked in perfect harmony, avoiding enemy patrol routes and quietly passing through several dark alleys before finally finding a relatively safe hiding place. It was a simple storage room with cracks all around the walls, but at least no enemy patrols passed by.
Xiaohu was the first to enter, followed by Qin Cang and Liu San. The room was completely silent, with only the sound of their breathing echoing in the empty space. Qin Cang stood in the corner, his eyes never leaving Liu San. He knew that although they were temporarily safe, this silence still lurked many unknown dangers.
"Liu San." Qin Cang spoke in a low voice, breaking the silence, "What did you say the enemy's plan was?"
Liu San sat in a corner, looking a little exhausted. His expression remained complex, as if he was trying to sort out his thoughts. "The enemy... they're preparing an unprecedented attack," Liu San's voice was low and filled with pressure. "I've heard their secret conversations. Their target isn't just our team; their plan involves a wider area, perhaps even the entire enemy command structure."
Qin Cang frowned slightly, his eyes gradually becoming colder: "You said their target is the entire command system? This is not simple."
"Yes." Liu San nodded, his eyes becoming increasingly heavy. "The enemy is planning a massive chaos. Their goal is clear: to weaken all our command structures, making us lose our ability to coordinate, and ultimately destroy our resistance."
Qin Cang was silent for a long moment after hearing this. Questions kept popping up in his mind. He had realized that this operation was definitely not as simple as he had initially imagined. The enemy not only wanted to destroy their forces, but also wanted to completely overturn the entire situation and create irreversible chaos.
Xiaohu stood aside, always alert, his eyes scanning the surroundings from time to time, as if he was still worried about the enemy's pursuit. He was full of doubts about the intelligence brought by Liu San, but he also knew that the current situation did not allow them to hesitate too much.
"Qin Cang, what should we do next?" Xiaohu asked in a low voice, with a hint of urgency in his voice.
"We must strike first." Qin Cang murmured in a low voice, his eyes flashing with determination.
Beside him, Liu San had quietly walked up to him. He was the kind of person who rarely showed his emotions, always wearing a calm smile on his face, as if no matter what happened, all the storms could not disturb his heart. However, Qin Cang knew that deep in Liu San's heart, there was an even more turbulent ocean, and beneath his calm appearance, there were countless undercurrents.
"We must act tonight," Qin Cang said softly, his tone carrying a hint of unquestionable determination. "The enemy has sent a large number of troops, but if we can use the cover of darkness to quietly break through their defenses, we will definitely catch them off guard."
Liu San nodded slightly, a glint in his eyes. He knew that Qin Cang's decisions were never wrong, and tonight, their fate depended on this decision.
"I'll go." Liu San said lightly, his voice low and firm.
Qin Cang's gaze froze. He turned around and stared at his comrade, whom he trusted immensely. "No, it's too dangerous. Although the enemy hasn't completely sealed off the area, they've set up a tight defense."
Liu San still had that calm smile on his face. "I know the enemy will leave gaps in every part of their defense line, but that's precisely why it's more suitable for me to go. My steps will be so subtle that even the wind won't be able to detect them."
A flicker of worry flashed across Qin Cang's eyes, but then the light in them grew sharper. "In that case, we must proceed with caution." He knew Liu San's abilities, but he still couldn't shake the uneasiness in his heart.
Liu San nodded, then turned and disappeared into the night, his figure blending into the darkness like a ghost. Qin Cang's eyes followed him until Liu San's figure completely disappeared from his sight.
Everything around him seemed to be silent. Only the distant wind rustled, bringing a hint of coolness. A strange glint flashed in Qin Cang's eyes—the anticipation and tenacity unique to warriors.
He didn't leave, choosing instead to stand still and watch Liu San's movements. Although Liu San's movements were impeccable and his speed was as swift as the wind, he knew every second that the enemy's trap was not simple. If Liu San were careless, he could disappear forever in this darkness.
