Chapter 499 All the Anxiety
Chapter 499 All the Anxiety
"Damn it..." Qin Cang gritted his teeth, suppressing the panic in his heart. Every second, he felt a tense atmosphere approaching, as if this dark forest was swallowing up everything he had.
"Xiao Hu!" Qin Cang called out softly, his voice piercing the darkness like a ghost. He knew he couldn't give up. Liu San's disappearance was undoubtedly a huge warning; this situation couldn't be accidental. Qin Cang's eyes grew sharper, his thoughts clearer.
Little Tiger crouched not far away, his figure almost blending into the darkness. Qin Cang barely needed to glance at him to know that Little Tiger's reaction must be quick. A faint intuition told him that Little Tiger had already noticed the unusual situation.
"What happened?" Qin Cang asked in a low voice. There was no panic in his tone, only deep confusion and urgency.
Xiaohu still didn't answer directly, but looked at him with a meaningful look, and then pointed to the other side of the camp - that direction, where the shadows were the thickest.
"Do you suspect Liu San has been captured?" Qin Cang paused, his voice filled with doubt. Clearly, he had realized the complexity of the situation—if Liu San had truly been captured, the situation would become even more dangerous. The enemy's plan was no longer solely aimed at them; it was designed to completely disrupt their plans.
"Maybe, maybe not." Xiaohu whispered, his eyes becoming serious. "We can't completely rule out the possibility that Liu San may have encountered other troubles. But I'm sure there must be a reason for his disappearance."
Qin Cang's brow furrowed tightly, countless hypotheses and questions flooding his mind. His thoughts grew confused, even reaching a stalemate. What was behind Liu San's disappearance? He could sense an unidentified danger approaching, a menace lurking in the darkness, ready to devour everything they had.
"Will Liu San..." Qin Cang didn't dare to think further, but deep down, his intuition told him that if Liu San was really arrested, the enemy would definitely use him to lure him into a trap.
"We have to find him." Qin Cang suddenly whispered, his eyes becoming more determined.
Xiaohu seemed to be well prepared. A hint of approval flashed in his eyes, and then he nodded gently: "Okay, let's go find him now."
Without further ado, they continued their silent march deeper into the camp. Qin Cang's heart was swirling with anxiety, yet his steps were remarkably steady. Each step felt like treading on a tightrope, a single misstep could lead to a plunge into the abyss. Each footstep became distinct, resonating in the silent night sky, carrying a heavy, oppressive feeling.
They passed through several woods, the scenery gradually changing. Qin Cang's eyes kept scanning the surroundings, searching for Liu San's trace, but he could see nothing in the darkness. The sound of his heartbeat echoed in his ears, and he could feel his chest growing heavier, as if a mountain was pressing down on him.
"If Liu San is really captured, then we should leave here quickly." Qin Cang's heart was full of hesitation. The situation before him was becoming more and more complicated, and the enemy's deployment was becoming more and more detailed. Every step he took could become a fatal loophole.
However, Xiaohu did not seem to be in a hurry to make a decision, his eyes were still calm and sharp: "I know you are worried about Liu San, but what we need most now is calmness. Blind impulse will only lead us into the enemy's trap."
Qin Cang knew what Xiao Hu said made sense, but he couldn't shake the anxiety in his heart. "But if Liu San is really in danger..."
"He knows what he should do." Xiaohu said calmly, "He's not a child, he can take care of himself."
Qin Cang remained silent, a sense of helplessness welling up in his heart. Liu San and he had been through so many life-or-death situations together, and their tacit understanding made him believe that no matter how difficult the situation, Liu San could remain calm. But at this moment, he could not determine Liu San's whereabouts, and he had no idea whether he was alive or had fallen into the hands of the enemy.
"Nothing can happen to him..." Qin Cang swore secretly in his heart, his eyes became unusually firm.
They finally reached the darkest area, deep within the camp, where everything seemed silent. Qin Cang gently pulled Xiao Hu's sleeve and whispered, "Let's split up and search to confirm the situation as quickly as possible."
Xiaohu nodded slightly and quickly disappeared into the darkness, blending into the surrounding shadows. Qin Cang continued to walk forward alone, the backpack in his hand becoming heavier and heavier, as if it carried all his anxiety and uneasiness.
Every step felt like treading on the edge of a knife, poised to trigger a crisis at any moment. His thoughts raced like a storm, and before he knew it, he had arrived in front of a seemingly abandoned warehouse, surrounded by bottomless darkness. Suddenly, Qin Cang's eyes lit up, and he stopped and slowly approached the closed door.
"There's someone inside..." Qin Cang's heartbeat quickened, his eyes flashing with deep solemnity. He knew that this place might hold the truth about Liu San's disappearance.
Qin Cang's eyes were fixed on the slightly shaking iron box, and his heart began to beat faster unconsciously, as if something was silently warning him: here, there might not only be the reason for Liu San's disappearance, but also a huge trap that he had not noticed.
The silence in the air made him feel like every second was like a hammer hitting him. The iron box before him, though seemingly ordinary, seemed to hold a special attraction, deeply drawing him closer. Qin Cang raised his feet and walked towards the box cautiously, trying to make as little noise as possible with each step. He dared not let his guard down, because from the moment he entered this camp, he knew that there was no sense of security here, and every detail could hide a deadly trap.
"What if Liu San is imprisoned in there..." This thought flashed through Qin Cang's mind, but he immediately shook his head in self-mockery. There was no evidence that anyone was hiding in this iron box; perhaps it was just his overly nervous imagination. However, a strong intuition told him that this might be the problem he would have to face next.
He approached the iron box and reached out to push the already rusty lid. As he pushed it open, the iron box made a harsh friction sound, echoing in the empty warehouse. Qin Cang's heart tightened, and he held his breath, staring intently at the interior of the box, ready to respond to any situation that might arise.
However, there was no figure in the box as he expected. It was empty, with only some worn-out cloth and sundries piled up inside. At that moment, Qin Cang couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, but at the same time, a sense of emptiness and disappointment also surged in his heart.
