Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 458 The Tranquility Before the Explosion
"Live?" Qin Cang sneered, "Did you choose to betray in order to survive? Did you choose to stand on Liu San's side? Xiaohu, I don't believe it. This is not you."
A complex emotion flashed in Xiaohu's eyes, and his lips trembled slightly, but in the end, he said nothing. The air between the two of them became even more solidified, as if there was an invisible barrier that completely separated them.
"You can choose to leave." Qin Cang's voice suddenly became low and slow, "Follow me and leave Liu San."
Xiao Hu's eyes moved, as if he was making some difficult decision. He looked at Qin Cang, as if he saw the brother who was once fearless and shared life and death with him. But at this moment, he was no longer that innocent young man, with too many complicated considerations and unwillingness in his heart.
"Xiao Hu..." Qin Cang's voice was gentle, yet still full of determination. "You are not that kind of person. I know you can make the right choice."
Qin Cang's gaze locked with Xiao Hu's, the pain and anger within him mingling into an indescribable emotion that threatened to consume him. Xiao Hu's expression remained unchanged, his face held an inscrutable coldness, like someone long abandoned by the world. Qin Cang's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and each breath became heavy, as if the pressure in the air was choking him.
"Xiao Hu..." Qin Cang called out softly, his tone filled with uncontrollable anxiety and pain. "Have you given up on me, our past, and our brotherhood?"
Xiaohu pursed his lips slightly. He did not answer and still stood there, like an insurmountable mountain, silent and unshakable.
Qin Cang felt as if he were being held down by an invisible force, unable to move. The rage that had once surged within him began to transform into a deep sense of confusion. Xiaohu's figure was no longer the young man who had always fought alongside him. Instead, he stood in the enemy camp, aloof and lonely, like an abandoned chess piece.
"No, this can't happen." Qin Cang whispered in his heart, forcing himself to calm down and trying to regain his sanity from the shock. "I can't lose you. I can't let you get lost like this."
He looked into Xiaohu's eyes. In that instant, he saw not the fearless brother he once was, but a man struggling in the whirlpool of fate. Xiaohu's eyes showed no sign of struggle, as if he had let go of everything and made his own choice. Qin Cang, on the other hand, remained standing, unable to understand or accept it.
"Xiao Hu, are you really so cold-hearted?" Qin Cang's voice grew deeper and deeper, whispering in pain, "Just because of Liu San's power, can you abandon everything? What's wrong with you?"
Xiaohu's eyes finally flickered, as if he was wavering a little. But he remained silent, as if those words and emotions had become irrelevant, like an island floating far away on the other side, never to be touched again.
At this moment, the sound of horse hooves came from afar, breaking the stalemate between the two. Qin Cang's eyes quickly turned to the distance, and he knew that Liu San's footsteps were approaching.
"You don't want to answer me, do you?" Qin Cang's voice turned cold, and a trace of determination in his eyes flashed that could not be ignored. "Well, I will take you back today."
A flash of surprise flashed across Xiaohu's eyes, but was soon replaced by a helpless expression. He did not try to stop Qin Cang, but only sighed softly: "You don't understand."
Qin Cang said nothing more. He turned and quickly left, moving forward with several cavalrymen. That battlefield was no longer just their former battleground; it was a clash of emotions and convictions. Qin Cang knew that tonight's confrontation was destined to be a choice from which there was no turning back.
And Liu San, the man who had always been like a shadow in Qin Cang's heart, was waiting for their arrival.
The night deepened, the wind intensified. Qin Cang's heart grew heavier. Though he remained calm on the surface, his inner turmoil was like a surging river, difficult to calm. He had long anticipated that Liu San would never let him go easily. And what happened today might completely change their relationship.
Finally, Qin Cang and his group arrived at Liu San's camp. From afar, the camp's lights flickered like silent flames, a cold glow. Liu San stood in that glow, a dark mass of soldiers behind him, quietly awaiting their arrival. His expression remained largely unchanged, as if everything was under his control.
Qin Cang's heartbeat was still heavy, but he had no time to care about it. He raised his head and stared at Liu San, his eyes filled with endless coldness.
"You're finally here, Qin Cang." Liu San's voice was filled with a hint of disdain. The smile seemed to welcome Qin Cang's arrival, but it also carried a bit of provocation.
Qin Cang didn't respond, but walked silently towards Liu San. He knew that he was no longer the young man who had once confronted Liu San. He was now a man who had experienced many hardships and hardships. Each step he took was more steady, and each glance was filled with a certain power.
"Liu San, we're here today for someone." Qin Cang finally spoke, his tone calm, yet concealing a threat that could not be ignored. "You made me lose Xiaohu, and now, I'm here to take him back."
Liu San's smile didn't fade, but instead grew even colder. He slowly walked towards Qin Cang, his eyes flickering with interest. "Lost Xiaohu? That's easy for you to say. He's mine now, and you can't just take him away."
Qin Cang's eyes narrowed slightly, the anger and resentment in his heart like the calm before a volcano erupts, suppressed and silent. "He is my brother, not your prisoner." Qin Cang whispered, each word seeming to cut through Liu San's disguise with a cold blade.
Liu San paused, his eyes becoming deep and complex. He looked at Qin Cang, a flicker of approval in his eyes. "You're such a stubborn person, Qin Cang. I thought you understood the rules of this world. The winner is king, the loser is the enemy. Whoever controls everything can dominate everything."
"That's not what I'm after." Qin Cang replied coldly, his eyes unwavering. "I don't want to be a king, I just want to bring my brother back."
Liu San smiled softly, a hint of amusement in his smile. "I always thought you were very smart, Qin Cang, but today you disappointed me. Xiaohu is not the Xiaohu you imagined. He is no longer the boy you knew." He paused, his tone becoming more calm. "He has made his choice. He chose me and my ideals."
