Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 449: Regaining the Light
But he didn't stop, his eyes still fixed on Liu San. Blood flowed profusely, but Qin Cang knew that only a strong will could allow him to reach the end. He had only one thought in his mind - if he stopped at this moment, he would never be able to see that young heart clearly, and he would never be able to bring any hope to Xiaohu.
"Liu San, you're nothing but a hypocrite." Qin Cang gritted his teeth, the knife in his hand becoming more steady. He was no longer in a rush to attack, but calmly awaited Liu San's next move.
Liu San's mouth curled up slightly, and a hint of teasing appeared in his eyes. "Hypocrite? Oh, what's the difference between you and me?"
Qin Cang's heart stirred slightly. These words seemed to touch something deep within him. Could it be that he and Liu San really had so many similarities? He had once been captivated by the martial arts world, constantly striving forward. He had also wielded his sword like the wind, tearing through any obstacle without hesitation for the sake of his ideals. Yet, now, standing here facing Liu San, he wasn't sure if he could still clearly distinguish between himself and his enemy.
"You don't understand," Qin Cang whispered, his eyes dark and hollow. In that moment, he seemed to be transported back to countless dark nights, back to his former self, the young man who had just left home, filled with lofty ambitions. However, as time passed, those ideals had long since faded, and everything before him had become increasingly complex, no longer able to be simply distinguished between good and evil as before.
"Of course I don't understand." Liu San sneered, the coldness in his eyes growing stronger. "You so-called heroes, don't you understand that you've already failed from the start? You think you're on the moral high ground, but in reality, you're just fighting for some empty ideals, and in the end, you can only face death."
Qin Cang's eyes dimmed slightly, his heartbeat quickened, and his mind was in a state of confusion. Every word Liu San said seemed to tear apart his once firm belief and sting the weakness in his heart.
"But I still can't give up." He muttered to himself, his voice so low that it was almost inaudible.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Liu San's eyes. He sneered and swung his long sword, slashing at Qin Cang again. Qin Cang did not retreat. His eyes were determined, and the blade followed him like a shadow, finally meeting Liu San's attack.
This knife was extremely sharp, as if carrying the power to tear through everything. However, Qin Cang's movements were still nimble. The tip of his knife rose like lightning and instantly slashed towards Liu San's wrist. Liu San's knife was suddenly knocked away. The moment he lost his balance, Qin Cang's blade swept across again, closely following Liu San's body, almost slicing him from shoulder to ribs.
Blood gushed out like a fountain, and Liu San groaned. He was obviously seriously injured, but there was no trace of fear in his eyes, instead they became even colder.
"You have some skills, but nothing more than that." Liu San laughed softly, with a hint of blood on the corner of his mouth.
Qin Cang felt an unknown emotion surging within him as he gazed at Liu San. He had never truly faced such a person, an enemy who seemed cold-blooded yet had survived this ruthless world for so long. Liu San's murderous intent was as deep as the ocean, and his own heart seemed to have long since lost its last trace of purity through countless life-and-death battles.
"You're just trying to survive." Qin Cang said softly, his eyes gradually turning cold.
"Live?" Liu San grinned, his face stained with blood. "Then how do you know that living can bring true satisfaction? You are just trying to survive."
These words seemed to touch a chord in Qin Cang's heart. However, he didn't stop, and the blade was already trembling slightly. At this moment, a voice in his heart told him: Perhaps, there is not so much difference between him and Liu San.
As the blades clashed, the air thick with pain and despair, and Qin Cang's mind grew hazy. With each of Liu San's attacks, he felt himself being crushed, bit by bit. The justice he had once taken for granted was being mercilessly torn apart.
He closed his eyes in pain, almost giving up all resistance. But at that moment, a figure flashed by and appeared in his sight.
That's Xiaohu.
Xiao Hu slowly approached from the end of the dark mountain path. Although scars still covered his body, his steps were remarkably firm. Even though he still looked young, there was no trace of fear in his eyes, only silent determination. At that moment, Qin Cang felt an emotion he had never felt before surge within him.
"Xiao Hu..." Qin Cang murmured softly, almost losing his voice.
Xiao Hu's eyes met Qin Cang's for a moment, without a trace of hesitation or avoidance. He walked closer and closer, until he stood between Qin Cang and Liu San. With a twist of the blade, the sharp blade in his hand stabbed Liu San like lightning.
"Go away!" Liu Sanda was furious and waved his knife to block.
However, Xiaohu's blade was lightning-fast, with barely a single wasted movement. His blade was incredibly precise, slicing through Liu San's chest almost before his attack even landed. Liu San was caught off guard and abruptly stepped back, clutching his chest wound with a look of disbelief in his eyes.
"I won't let you continue to hurt him." Xiaohu's voice was low and firm, not at all like the tone of a young man.
Qin Cang's heart moved. Looking at Xiaohu standing in front of him, he suddenly understood something - this battle, perhaps from the very beginning, was not just about life and death, but to let the lost heart find light again.
Xiao Hu's appearance was like a sudden ray of light, piercing the long-standing haze in Qin Cang's heart. He stood there, his face still pale, the scar on his shoulder still unhealed, but his eyes showed no sign of wavering, only determination.
A flicker of surprise flashed across Liu San's eyes, then turned into a sneer. Clearly, he hadn't expected Xiao Hu to appear so suddenly on the battlefield and join the fray without hesitation. Furthermore, Liu San's expression was also faintly tinged with unease—had this young man, who had repeatedly escaped his hands, at some point surpassed his expectations?
"Xiao Hu?" Liu San's voice was low and filled with disdain, his eyes piercing Xiao Hu directly. "Do you really think that with this little injury of yours, you can stop me?"
Xiaohu didn't respond directly, but simply stared coldly at Liu San, the murderous intent in his eyes growing sharper. Qin Cang looked at him, his heart a mixture of emotions. He knew that the young man before him had once been a child full of ideals and passion, but now, he was no longer that simple "hero." There was too much sharpness in Xiaohu's eyes, no longer matching his former innocence.
