A trace of pain flashed in Liu San's eyes. He lowered his head, as if silently weighing something. Whenever he saw Xiaohu's smiling face, his heart surged like a tidal wave, uncontrollable. He knew that if he chose to leave, he would never be able to bear the guilt.

"Xiao Hu is my only concern," Liu San's voice seemed to come from the abyss, "I dragged him into this battle. Now, he must survive."

Qin Cang's lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, nothing came out. He understood Liu San's pain, and he knew the hardships along the way had already made their relationship even closer. However, he still couldn't let go of one question: could Liu San bear the consequences of dragging Xiao Hu into the abyss?

Suddenly, Liu San stopped and turned to look at Qin Cang. A hint of helplessness flashed in his eyes, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, forcing a smile.

"If you are afraid, quit." Liu San said coldly, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

Qin Cang frowned slightly, but he didn't respond. He simply continued to follow, his pace slightly quickening. The tacit understanding between the two seemed to have transcended words. Even though they knew each other's inner struggles, they continued to move forward towards their goal.

As night fell, the sound of gunfire on the battlefield intensified. Liu San knew time was running out. Xiaohu's captivity wasn't far from the battle zone, but the enemy's security was tightening. Every step forward was fraught with danger. The air was thick with the stench of blood, almost suffocating.

As he approached an abandoned building, Liu San stopped, feeling an inexplicable sense of oppression. Qin Cang also noticed something, his eyes scanning the surroundings, his fingers slightly tightening around the handle of his gun.

"Here..." Liu San whispered, "The enemy should be just ahead."

Qin Cang nodded and said softly: "Xiao Hu is inside, don't you want to change the plan?"

Liu San looked at the darkness ahead, his heart in turmoil. He knew he couldn't turn back. No matter how dangerous the road ahead, there was no turning back. He had to save Xiaohu.

"No matter what, I've come this far." Liu San's voice was low and firm, like a resounding oath, "This time, I will never let him get hurt again."

"You can protect him for a while, but you can't protect him for his whole life." Qin Cang finally spoke, with a hint of helplessness in his words, as if he was a little tired of Liu San's obsession, "You should just give up."

Liu San didn't answer. He knew Qin Cang was thinking of him, but the pain he was experiencing was beyond their comprehension.

"You know that too." Liu San's eyes lit up with an increasingly fiery fire, "I never regret my choice."

The two looked at each other for a moment, and Qin Cang finally sighed and turned to walk forward. He knew that this road was destined to be a choice with no turning back. Since Liu San insisted, he would accompany him.

As the two approached the abandoned building, the enemy's movements became more obvious, and Liu San felt a sense of unease spreading in his heart. The tense atmosphere enveloped him, and every nerve in his body was tense, as if it could explode at any time.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps broke the silence. Liu San quickly crouched down, his heartbeat accelerating. Qin Cang followed closely behind, whispering, "Don't worry, wait until they leave."

Hidden in the shadows of the ruins, they watched the enemy's movements with bated breath. Time seemed to slow to a crawl, each second stretching like years. Liu San's heart pounded violently, the sounds in his ears becoming blurred, leaving only the pounding within him.

"Xiao Hu..." he whispered again, with a determined glint in his eyes.

Liu San held his breath, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's as he watched the enemy ahead. His heart pounded, nearly bursting through his chest, yet his expression remained stern, as if he were accustomed to such tension and pressure. Qin Cang stood beside him, his gaze deep, his fingers gripping the handle of his gun tightly, ready to respond at any moment.

"Go around the back." Qin Cang said softly, his voice low but with a sense of determination.

Liu San didn't say anything, but his heart was slightly moved. He knew that Qin Cang's words were not just a simple order, but a reminder that their mission was not just to break through the front line of defense, but also to race against time to avoid the enemy's attention being too focused on them.

"Wait a minute." Liu San responded in a low voice. He felt an indescribable sense of urgency rolling in his heart.

Xiaohu, still in the enemy's grasp, his life hanging like a sword above his head, shattered if it fell. Every heartbeat felt like a deep pain, as if his blood had frozen into ice, freezing his thoughts. Liu San knew he had to do his utmost, to find a way out of this struggle.

He turned to look at Qin Cang and found that his gaze was no longer hesitant. Qin Cang's face remained calm, as if everything was under his control. But Liu San knew that Qin Cang was not as calm as he appeared. Behind those deep eyes, there was an unspoken worry.

"Aren't you afraid that something might happen to Xiaohu?" Liu San suddenly asked, his voice low but with a hint of imperceptible anxiety.

Qin Cang was stunned for a moment when he heard this question, then responded calmly: "You and I both understand that Xiaohu is in a very dangerous situation. But you also know that if we continue to delay, his chances of survival will be even smaller. Our goal is not to save him, but to ensure that he has a chance to survive."

Liu San frowned slightly, puzzled. Qin Cang always thought in a cold and almost callous way, but he knew that beneath this coldness lay a deep concern. It was just a different way of caring.

"You want to go around and avoid a head-on confrontation with the enemy?" Liu San asked again, with a hint of tentativeness in his tone.

Qin Cang didn't answer directly, but whispered, "We should go around where the enemy's defenses are lax, so we can avoid their attention." He paused, looking at the ruins in the distance. "We must not only rescue Xiaohu, but also ensure the least casualties. This time, we must be more discreet."

Liu San was silent for a moment, his gaze returning to the enemy position ahead. He could hear the uneasiness in Qin Cang's words. Although he appeared fearless, he actually understood that the dangers along the way were far beyond his expectations.

"Let's go." Liu San whispered.

He finally made a decision and began to quietly advance along the route Qin Cang had indicated. The two walked side by side through the ruins, trying to keep a low profile and not make any noise. With each step, they stepped on the fine gravel, fearing to alert the surrounding enemies.
