Chapter 408 Preparing to Guide
"He's spotted me!" Xiaohu's heart was filled with panic, but he remained calm, quickened his pace, and quickly circled around the enemy's flank. He knew that only in this way could he disrupt the enemy's rhythm and make the enemy mistakenly believe that their plan had been exposed.
A flash of suspicion flashed across the enemy's eyes, but soon a sneer appeared on his face. "Are you here to arrest me?" He spoke with a hint of disdain. "But you were quite alert, otherwise I would have discovered you long ago."
"Who are you?" Xiao Hu asked in a low voice without replying, trying not to sound too hostile, but the tension in his words could not be completely concealed.
"Haha." The man sneered, "I am the traitor you have been looking for."
Xiaohu was stunned. He hadn't expected this man to admit his identity so easily. He gripped his weapon tightly, ready to strike at any moment. The anxiety in his heart grew more apparent. He knew that every step before him could mean life or death.
Qin Cang stared intently at the traitor, his eyes like icy blades, analyzing every detail. The man's sneer sent a chill down Xiaohu's spine, yet Qin Cang's heart remained unwavering. For him, the most important thing right now wasn't simply action, but analysis—the enemy's weaknesses, their motives, their loopholes. Every exploitable flaw couldn't be missed; it was crucial to their chances of gaining the upper hand in the ensuing battle.
"Xiao Hu, hold on!" Qin Cang warned softly, his tone not impetuous, but with an inexplicable sense of oppression. He didn't show too much worry. In fact, he had already quickly made a judgment in his mind: this confrontation was inevitable. The key was how to quickly turn the enemy from passive to active.
"Traitor?" Xiaohu's lips trembled slightly, but he quickly adjusted his breathing and continued steadily, "Why did you betray your own people? What was your motive?"
A complex emotion flashed across the man's eyes, and then he scoffed, glancing around. Clearly, he wasn't bothered by Xiaohu's question. After a moment, his gaze calmed, as if he had made up his mind. "You're not the ones I need to worry about. If I were to betray you, it would be to see who would benefit the most, and then become my partner."
This sentence caused Xiaohu's brows to raise slightly, and a sense of unease instantly rose in his heart. He knew that although this enemy seemed casual and his words were understated, the background behind him was definitely far more complicated. Qin Cang was right. Every action of his deserved to be treated with caution. The disdain in the enemy's words could actually conceal a huge danger.
"Xiao Hu, don't be affected by his words," Qin Cang whispered from a distance. Although his gaze remained sharp as a sword, he gradually began to analyze the enemy's every move. He knew that since the enemy could reveal his identity so easily, his true intentions were definitely not as simple as they appeared.
The enemy didn't seem particularly hostile towards them, but rather seemed to be biding their time—perhaps waiting for the arrival of others, or perhaps observing their reaction. Qin Cang had a vague feeling that they might be aware of their exposure, but were in no rush to act. This behavior was a deliberate attempt to create a false impression, or perhaps to elicit a deeper reaction.
"Xiao Hu," Qin Cang whispered, "Stay calm. Liu San and I will prepare for action."
"Understood." Xiaohu's tone was unconsciously a little nervous, but he quickly adjusted his composure and looked directly at the traitor again. "Can you tell me where your information is hidden? Do you think you can take it all away by yourself?"
The man smiled slightly, his eyes suddenly becoming cold. "Do you really think I would reveal the bargaining chips in my hand? Dream on."
This sentence caused an inexplicable tension in Qin Cang's heart. He realized that the enemy before him was not simply here to fight them. The game between them was no longer limited to a simple arrest operation, but concealed a greater conspiracy and a more complex exchange of interests.
"Xiao Hu, pay attention." Qin Cang's eyes began to scan the surroundings rapidly. He sensed the hint in his enemy's words and realized this was no simple game of catch. "Liu San, get ready. You distract him while Xiao Hu and I subdue him."
"I understand." Liu San responded, his voice low but full of determination.
Just as Qin Cang was about to issue an order, a sneer suddenly flashed in the enemy's eyes. He turned abruptly, and a cold light immediately cut through the air. Qin Cang reacted almost immediately and shouted at the same time: "Quick!"
The next second, the enemy rushed towards a distant forest like a ghost, the speed was almost beyond their expectations.
"Xiao Hu!" Qin Cang shouted loudly, with great vigilance in his heart, and quickly led Liu San to chase the enemy. "He's trying to run!"
Xiaohu's face instantly turned ashen, and he instinctively leaped forward, running towards the enemy. He no longer considered the dangers hidden behind the enemy, but only wanted to capture this traitor and ensure that the information would not be leaked.
However, Qin Cang was not impatient. The more the enemy tried to escape, the more flaws they would reveal. He no longer rushed to pursue them, but instead quickly changed his tactics, preparing to lure the enemy into a range they could control.
"Xiao Hu, slow down! Liu San, prepare to guide!"
Qin Cang made a quick judgment. At this moment, rushing to pursue them might only put them in greater trouble. As long as the enemy continued to run, their whereabouts would be exposed. Once the enemy ran to a more advantageous position, they might be dragged into the trap that the enemy had already laid.
"Xiao Hu, pay attention to his movements. Don't rush." Qin Cang's voice was low and clear, as if competing with his own heartbeat. He felt that this chase was not just a physical battle, but also a psychological battle. Whoever showed a flaw first would lose the initiative.
The enemy finally stopped and turned to stare at Qin Cang and his group. His expression changed completely, from contempt to a serious one. Qin Cang frowned slightly. He knew the enemy had realized the situation was unfavorable to him, but he also understood that the enemy clearly had some kind of bargaining chip in hand.
"Xiao Hu, don't let up." Qin Cang thought to himself, and his tone became calmer. "Are you ready?"
After hearing this, Xiaohu adjusted his mentality, although he still didn't completely relax the tension in his heart.
