Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 381 A slight boost
Qin Cang pondered for a moment, his eyes sharp: "We can't wait for them to make a move, we must strike first."
The deputy was stunned: "You mean... a sneak attack?"
Qin Cang nodded, a fierce look flashing in his eyes: "Yes, the enemy thinks they can catch us off guard, so let them taste the feeling of being caught off guard first."
At that moment, a nimble figure emerged from the darkness. He was Xiaohu, one of Qin Cang's youngest yet most accomplished commandos. Despite his youth, he had already accumulated countless exploits on the battlefield. He was slender, but his eyes were as sharp as a falcon's, and he exuded a convincing confidence.
"Xiao Hu, you've come at the perfect time." Qin Cang said calmly, with a hint of admiration in his eyes, "This mission is none other than you."
Xiaohu heard this and smiled excitedly: "Captain Qin, just give me the order, I will definitely complete the mission."
"The enemy's elite squad is gathering. Tonight you will lead your men to sneak into their camp and destroy their command center. It would be best if you can bring back intelligence, but if not, you must make sure they are in chaos." Qin Cang's tone was unquestionable, his eyes full of determination.
Xiaohu straightened his back and saluted solemnly: "I guarantee to complete the mission!"
Qin Cang nodded and added, "Remember, concealment is the first priority. It is better to miss the target than to expose yourself."
Xiaohu nodded in agreement and turned to leave to gather his own team. Soon, a small team of six quietly set out from the camp and disappeared into the darkness.
The night wind rustled the treetops. Xiaohu led his team through the jungle, their steps as light as a cat, trying not to make any noise. Each of them was fully armed, their faces covered in camouflage paint, almost blending into the night.
"The enemy camp is ahead." The scout whispered, pointing to a vague light ahead.
Xiaohu narrowed his eyes, observed carefully for a while, and then whispered an order: "Spread out, keep your distance, and be on standby at any time."
The team nodded in unison and quickly dispersed, hiding among the surrounding grass and trees. Xiaohu quietly crawled forward until he could clearly see the enemy camp.
The enemy camp wasn't large, but its defenses were incredibly tight. Patrolling soldiers stood guard every three steps, every five steps a sentry. Their figures, illuminated by the firelight, wandered like ghosts. Xiaohu held his breath, carefully observing every detail, searching for a breakthrough.
"Two, three, there's a blind spot on the right. We can go around it," Xiaohu whispered through his headset. He then gave instructions to the team members in another direction, "Four, five, draw attention and create chaos."
Soon, the team members began to move. Numbers 4 and 5 quietly approached the enemy's perimeter, using branches and stones to create a slight noise. Sure enough, the patrolling soldiers were attracted and gathered in the direction of the sound.
"Here's our chance!" Xiaohu whispered, and with No. 2 and No. 3, they quickly crossed the blind spot and successfully infiltrated the enemy camp. They moved swiftly, like ghosts in the darkness, and were already deep inside before the enemy even noticed.
There were whispered conversations coming from not far away from the command center tent. Xiaohu held his breath and moved closer. Through the gap, he saw several enemy commanders sitting inside, nervously discussing tactics.
"Number two, place the explosives, number three, prepare the retreat route." Xiaohu whispered the order, then took out a smoke bomb, held it in his hand, ready to detonate at any time.
However, at this moment, something unexpected happened. An enemy soldier suddenly emerged from a corner, right in front of Number Three, who was lying in ambush. The two stared at each other for a second, and the soldier immediately opened his mouth to shout, but before he could utter a word, Number Three stabbed him in the throat. However, this brief movement had already alerted the surrounding enemies.
"Exposed!" Xiaohu growled, gritting his teeth. "Execute the second plan and break out!"
The smoke bomb exploded instantly, and a thick cloud quickly spread, obscuring the enemy's vision. Xiaohu and his team seized the opportunity to rush into the command center and place the pre-prepared explosives in key locations. They then quickly withdrew, weaving in and out of the gunfire and cries of death like a group of elusive shadows.
A deafening explosion ripped through the night sky, and the enemy's command center instantly turned into a sea of fire. Xiaohu and his team successfully broke through the encirclement. Although everyone was injured to varying degrees, they all had smiles of victory on their faces.
When they returned to the camp, Qin Cang was already waiting. Seeing Xiaohu and the team members return safely, a flicker of relief flashed across his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
"The mission was well accomplished." Qin Cang said calmly, patting Xiaohu on the shoulder. "Have a good rest. There are more difficult tasks waiting for you tomorrow."
The campfire flickered faintly, illuminating Qin Cang's stern face. He crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze fixed on the dark forest in the distance, as if he could see the flames of the enemy camp through the layers of night. His heart was restless. Though he appeared calm on the surface, a subtle uneasiness lingered.
Xiaohu's victory boosted morale slightly, but Qin Cang knew that this battle only shattered part of the enemy's plan, not completely crushed them. The enemy wouldn't give up easily; they would definitely reorganize their forces, perhaps even become more aggressive. Qin Cang's mind quickly mapped out his next strategy, his brow furrowing even deeper.
At that moment, a burly figure approached from the other side of the camp. It was Liu San, a seasoned veteran, tall and incredibly strong, but also a bit reckless. He was carrying a canteen of water, drinking as he walked. Upon seeing Qin Cang, he put down his canteen and grinned, "Captain Qin, why aren't you resting yet? You look like you're thinking about something important again, aren't you?"
Qin Cang looked up at him and said calmly, "The matter is not over yet, I can't rest."
Liu San grinned, revealing his large yellow teeth. "I knew you were that kind of person. If you have anything to say, just tell me directly. No matter how tired I am, I, Liu San, will not hesitate."
Qin Cang was silent for a moment, then suddenly said, "Liu San, come with me tonight."
Liu San was stunned for a moment, then revealed an excited expression: "Great! Captain Qin, you finally took me on the court. To be honest, I've been so bored these past two days that I'm itching to play."
Qin Cang didn't smile. He stared into Liu San's eyes and said in a low voice, "This mission is not easy. I need a reliable person to cooperate with me. Xiaohu and the others just came back. We can't let them take risks again. Your experience is more suitable than theirs."
