Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 364 He has been contacted
Liu San said nothing more. He stood up, his body slightly frail, but his steps firm. The two of them quickly left the hut. Xiaohu gently closed the door and scanned the surroundings once more, his heart pounding with nervousness. The enemy's search was becoming increasingly intense. If they were discovered, their plan would be completely ruined.
"Let's go, hurry up." Xiaohu urged Liu San in a low voice, quickening his pace.
Qin Cang stood on the ridge, his eyes fixed on the enemy camp ahead. His heartbeat was rapid, but his face remained calm. In the darkness, all around him was silence, broken only by the occasional chirping of birds and the rustling of the wind, as if nothing had ever happened. Yet, within Qin Cang's heart, the oppressive feeling grew stronger, like a huge rock pressing down on his chest.
He knew that the enemy camp, though heavily guarded, was not impenetrable. For this reason, he chose to bypass the camp and enter from behind the mountain; this was the only route he could control. After all, the enemy's attention was focused on the front, and the defenses on that side seemed stronger. However, as long as he could quietly approach and break through the enemy's defenses, Liu San would be safely rescued.
"Xiao Hu," Qin Cang turned and whispered to Xiao Hu behind him, "Follow me. Remember, all actions must be quick and decisive. Don't pause."
Xiaohu nodded, his dagger tightly gripped in his hand, his gaze determined. He knew that tonight's mission wasn't just about rescuing someone, but a life-or-death struggle. He didn't dare to relax for a moment, thinking through every step, how to complete the mission in a very short time, how to take Liu San away without the enemy noticing.
The two men quietly descended the mountainside path. The dark trees and bushes obscured their figures, and their footsteps were almost silent. Qin Cang observed his surroundings while silently analyzing the enemy's movements. He calculated that the enemy patrols should have adjusted their deployment, but every adjustment meant a loophole. He knew that the enemy could not achieve a 100% defense without blind spots. If he could find even a tiny loophole, he would have a chance to break through their defenses.
"We have to speed up," Qin Cang lowered his voice and reminded Xiao Hu, "The enemy's patrol route may change in an hour. We must rush to where Liu San is before then."
Xiao Hu's heart tightened, but he nodded. At this point, he had completely placed his trust in Qin Cang, following his lead with every step. Though his heart was filled with anxiety, he was also filled with trust in his old friend. He had never seen Qin Cang fail, and even with each failure, he was able to turn the tide at the most crucial moment. Tonight, Liu San's fate rested in their hands.
Soon, they gradually approached the enemy's rear. Qin Cang stopped and signaled Xiao Hu to stop. The two of them tacitly crouched beside a bush, observing the camp ahead.
There weren't many guards outside the camp, and most of the enemies seemed to be concentrated in the center, seemingly unaware of the possible threat from the rear. Qin Cang frowned, and a thought flashed through his mind as he immediately made a judgment: "The enemy didn't expect us to attack from the rear. This is our only chance."
Xiaohu responded in a low voice: "Then what should we do?"
"You go and support Liu San. I'll go around and distract the enemy." Qin Cang's tone was low and firm. "You must be quick. There can be no hesitation."
Xiaohu nodded, quickly adjusted his position, and silently passed through another path. Meanwhile, Qin Cang quietly approached a weak enemy defense line outside the camp. His heart was pounding in his chest, yet his face remained calm. He silently calculated every step, every detail. He knew that every second of hesitation could lead to the failure of the entire operation, or even fatal consequences.
After passing through a jungle, Qin Cang finally approached the enemy's defenses. He took a deep breath, quickly ducked his head and hid behind a boulder, secretly observing the movements around him. Several enemies were patrolling along the defense line, occasionally stopping to exchange a few words before continuing forward. Qin Cang gripped the hilt of his knife tightly, knowing that his best opportunity would come when these enemies had their backs to him.
Without hesitation, he leaped from cover, his movements as swift as lightning, and within a few breaths, he had already pounced on the nearest enemy. The enemy had no reaction before Qin Cang's precise knife slashed his throat, sending him falling to the ground instantly. The air around them froze instantly, and Qin Cang, with almost no pause, quickly and calmly dispatched the second enemy. By the time the last enemy noticed the movement, Qin Cang's blade had already grazed his neck. He let out a low groan, and then fell silent.
"Well done." Qin Cang muttered to himself, but his hands did not stop moving. He quickly glanced around to make sure no other enemies noticed the movement here, then quickly retreated to his original hiding place.
He fished out a small whistle from his bosom and blew it gently. It was the signal he and Xiaohu had agreed on beforehand. A faint breeze blew, and the whistle's sound carried with it, like a ghost piercing the darkness, conveying a silent command.
A few minutes later, Xiao Hu quietly approached in the direction of the signal, and his figure quickly flashed from the woods. Qin Cang signaled him to continue moving forward and resumed his vigilance.
"Xiaohu, how are you?" Qin Cang asked in a low voice.
Xiaohu didn't answer immediately, but looked down in the direction of Liu San. Liu San was following him, and Xiaohu could feel that although Liu San's pace was a little slow, his determination was not shaken at all.
"We've picked him up, sir." Xiaohu replied softly, a hint of complexity in his tone. "Liu San's wound is serious, so his movements may be delayed, but he should be able to catch up."
Qin Cang nodded, his expression still stern. "It doesn't matter. The longer it takes, the worse it will be. You take him away, and I'll cover you from behind."
Xiao Hu nodded, then quickly walked towards Liu San and whispered, "Liu San, follow me, Qin Cang is waiting for you in front."
Liu San said nothing, merely nodding slightly, his lips curled up in a complex smile. In the darkness, his eyes revealed an indescribable tenacity and resolve. Despite the intense pain from his wounds, despite his physical strength reaching its limit, at this moment, the strength within him remained undimmed. He had been trapped by the enemy, but now, finally, there was hope. He could finally stand up again and face all he had lost.
