Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 338 Trying to open your eyes
Qin Cang noticed this and slowed down his pace slightly. He wanted to say something, but suddenly stopped. At this moment, the woods behind him were shrouded in darkness, and the scene before him became increasingly strange and eerie.
"Do you remember that path?" Qin Cang asked, his voice still low.
Liu San nodded, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. "Remember, Captain. I know the way."
"That's good." Qin Cang exhaled lightly, "We can only walk more carefully."
Suddenly, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and a faint crackling sound echoed from the distant rocks. Qin Cang stopped immediately, his eyes as sharp as a hawk's, and he pricked up his ears, listening carefully to the movements around him. He could feel the atmosphere in the air grow more solemn, as if some unknown force was quietly approaching.
"Little Tiger, be quiet," Liu San commanded softly, reaching out to pat the tiger cub rubbing against his leg, signaling it to be quiet. The tiger cub immediately squatted down obediently, ears perked up, eyes scanning the surroundings alertly. It seemed to have sensed something was amiss, its deep sense of smell and keen hearing keeping it alert.
"Keep going." Qin Cang said softly, taking a step towards the depths of the woods.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the air became increasingly humid, the trees around them began to grow denser, and the shadows grew deeper. Qin Cang's uneasiness remained undiminished, and every step he took was like walking on thin ice, not daring to relax.
Suddenly, a crisp sound came from the bushes ahead, like the sound of something being knocked over. Qin Cang stopped in his tracks, his eyes fixed on the darkness ahead.
"Enemy?" Qin Cang's heart trembled and he made a quick judgment.
Liu San also stopped quietly and nervously held Xiaohu's collar, as if waiting for the next instruction.
"Keep quiet and follow me." Qin Cang said in a low voice. There was no hesitation in his tone, but instead a strong sense of decisiveness.
The two quietly approached the source of the sound in front of them, but as the distance got closer, the sound suddenly stopped and the air around them seemed to solidify.
"What's going on?" Qin Cang frowned slightly. He felt a strong sense of unease invading his whole body, as if an invisible hand was slowly pinching his throat.
At this moment, a low roar suddenly came from the woods ahead, and then a black shadow suddenly rushed out and rushed towards them.
"Xiao Hu, get out of the way!" Qin Cang's heart moved, his eyes suddenly widened, and he quickly pulled Liu San away.
The shadow pounced on Liu San almost instantly. Qin Cang's heart beat violently, and he almost felt time freeze in that instant. The shadow swept in like a gust of wind, carrying an irresistible force, and pounced directly on Liu San's back. Before Liu San could react, his body had been hit and he fell to the ground with a dull thud.
"Liu San!" Qin Cang shouted almost instinctively, rushing forward to pull Liu San out of the monster's attack range. However, the black shadow's speed far exceeded his expectations. Seeing Liu San being knocked down, Qin Cang's head almost exploded. He had no time to think further, but quickly drew the dagger at his side and pounced fiercely at the black shadow.
Little Tiger roared and lunged at the shadow, but its strength was clearly inferior to the monster's. The monster's claws swung instantly, sending Little Tiger flying. He slammed into a nearby tree trunk, letting out a painful whine. Qin Cang's heart sank, knowing the situation was worse than he had imagined.
"Liu San!" Qin Cang roared, his eyes blazing with uncontrollable rage. He leaped to Liu San's side, tightly grasping his shaking shoulders, and tried to lift him off the ground. Liu San's breathing was rapid and chaotic, and he was almost unconscious from the huge impact. Qin Cang's fingers touched Liu San's neck and felt the weak and trembling pulse beneath his skin.
"Don't... don't stop, Qin Cang..." Liu San's voice was hoarse and he struggled weakly to sit up, but his face was pale and his eyes were blurred, and he had obviously suffered serious injuries.
Qin Cang's heart suddenly tightened. While he was holding Liu San's body tightly, he glanced back at Xiaohu. Xiaohu was struggling to get up from the ground. Although he had not been directly injured by the monster, he had obviously taken a considerable impact. He staggered to Qin Cang's side and let out a low roar, as if to warn Qin Cang that more enemies were quietly approaching.
"Hold on," Qin Cang ordered urgently, a flame of anxiety burning in his heart. "You have to hold on, Liu San! You can't fall here!"
However, Liu San's complexion grew worse. He struggled to open his eyes, his lips turning slightly pale. "I know... I know," he whispered, his tone lacking that firm resolve, but instead carrying a deep sense of helplessness. "I can't feel my legs anymore, Qin Cang... I probably... can't hold on much longer."
Qin Cang's heart sank. He looked down at Liu San's pale face, the pain and powerlessness almost unbearable. He understood that Liu San wasn't just pretending to be strong, but was truly injured, and it was a fatal injury. The monster's attack power far exceeded Qin Cang's imagination. Liu San's body was severely damaged, and the wounds were so deep that Qin Cang could hardly look directly at them.
"Xiao Hu, protect him." Qin Cang's eyes sharpened as he ordered Xiao Hu to guard against the enemies around him. He knew they couldn't stay in this place any longer. The enemy might still be nearby, and more attacks could come at any time. He gripped the dagger tightly in his hand, his eyes as cold as a blade, ready to face the battle that might come at any time.
"Liu San..." Qin Cang's voice became even deeper. "Listen, I can't let you die here. You must survive. You must survive."
Liu San's eyes gradually became blurry. His eyelids felt heavy as if they were weighed down by a thousand-pound rock. Every time he blinked, it was as if he was using up his last bit of strength. He struggled to open his eyes and stared at Qin Cang, but he couldn't say anything. His face was as pale as paper, and the look in his eyes gradually became depressed. His body trembled slightly, but it was obvious that he really didn't have the strength to say anything more.
"Don't close your eyes!" Qin Cang tugged at Liu San's collar, forcing him to look him in the eye. "You haven't completed your mission, Liu San! You still have to live!"
Liu San's lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but his voice was so low that it was almost inaudible. "I..."
"Don't talk!" Qin Cang pinched Liu San's shoulders, his eyes showing a trace of anxiety, "You have to live, hold on!"
