Bright Sword: Conquer the monk at the beginning and take down Zhou Weiguo
Chapter 315: The Edge of the Forest
"Liu San has taken the team away, I can't delay any longer." Qin Cang made a quick decision in his mind, quickened his pace, and disappeared silently into the woods.
As he deepened into the darkness, the uneasiness and anxiety in his heart never dissipated. Xiaohu's image lingered in his mind. The young warrior's impulsiveness and courage filled Qin Cang with both comfort and a subtle sense of worry. Unlike other warriors, Xiaohu's every action was driven by an intuitive decision, as if he could make his choices without excessive thought or hesitation. It was this decisiveness that repeatedly distinguished him on the battlefield, yet also forced Qin Cang to remain vigilant.
"Could he be approaching the enemy camp?" a thought flashed through Qin Cang's mind, and he couldn't help but quicken his pace. Although he knew that Xiao Hu was an extremely intelligent and brave warrior, he also knew that the enemy's danger was not as simple as they imagined. Xiao Hu's impulsiveness could become their fatal weakness.
With every step forward, Qin Cang constantly reconsidered his decision. He knew clearly that if he hesitated even a little, he might miss the perfect opportunity to reunite with Xiao Hu. Every shadow lurking in the darkness could become their death.
However, the closer he got to the enemy camp, the more nervous Qin Cang grew. In the dark forest, every rustling of leaves made him feel like he was walking on the edge of a knife, vulnerable to detection at any moment. The air was filled with a sense of oppression, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
"I must stay calm." Qin Cang kept reminding himself. Although his heart was filled with anxiety, he knew that only by staying calm could he find hope in a complex situation.
Just then, he heard a noise in the distance: an enemy patrol, approaching. Qin Cang stopped immediately, hiding behind a large tree and holding his breath. Moonlight filtered through the branches, casting a cold light on his tense expression. The enemy patrol moved slowly, their footsteps light and cautious, as if they were carefully monitoring their surroundings with every step.
Qin Cang stared at the group of enemies, his heartbeat almost syncing with their footsteps. He knew that at this moment, any mistake could lead to exposure. Even a seasoned warrior like him couldn't guarantee an escape from the enemy's eyes. The enemy's vigilance was extremely high, and every move they made was fraught with threat.
Qin Cang finally breathed a sigh of relief when the enemy gradually moved away. He did not stop, but continued to move forward quickly, following the enemy's patrol route and trying to find Xiaohu.
"Where could he be?" Qin Cang's thoughts raced, but a sudden surge of unease washed over him. He knew he had to be extra cautious with every step he took; the slightest mistake could expose his whereabouts. Xiaohu's impulsiveness, while giving him some motivation, also made him even more nervous. Xiaohu wasn't as steady as he was, and was often prone to unpredictable dangers.
"He won't be discovered so easily by the enemy." Qin Cang kept telling himself. Despite feeling a little uneasy, he still didn't give up his determination to find him. He knew Xiaohu's wisdom and courage very well. It was these qualities that made him a force to be reckoned with in the team.
Just as Qin Cang was about to speed up again, he suddenly stopped and glanced around sharply. His ears caught a faint sound - it was Xiaohu's footsteps.
"It's him!" Qin Cang was delighted and approached quietly in the direction of the voice without hesitation.
He approached a bush and, through a gap, finally saw Xiaohu. Xiaohu's movements were not hurried, as if he was waiting for something. His figure was surrounded by darkness, but Qin Cang could sense the tension emanating from him. Xiaohu was clearly not completely relaxed, his eyes darting around, stopping from time to time to listen to the movements around him.
"He's waiting for the enemy's movements." Qin Cang analyzed this in his mind, knowing that Xiao Hu hadn't acted rashly, but had chosen to wait for the right moment. Although this young man's judgment could sometimes seem impulsive, he could make wise decisions at critical moments.
Qin Cang approached Xiao Hu quietly, making almost no sound. He knew that he had to remain absolutely hidden at this moment, otherwise Xiao Hu's plan would be ruined.
Finally, Qin Cang approached Xiaohu and patted his shoulder gently.
"What are you doing here?" Qin Cang asked in a low voice, with a hint of blame in his tone, but more of concern.
Xiaohu was slightly startled. He turned around and saw Qin Cang. A flash of surprise flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. "Captain, I'm waiting for an opportunity. The enemy's defenses are not tight. We can take advantage of this opportunity to infiltrate." Xiaohu replied in a low voice, his eyes gleaming with determination.
Qin Cang's brow furrowed slightly, clearly disagreeing with Xiao Hu's assessment. "Do you think we can break through the enemy so easily?" He spoke in a low voice, with a hint of unquestionable authority.
Xiao Hu was undeterred by the doubts and continued to look at Qin Cang firmly. "I know the enemy is not easy to defeat, but this is our only chance." His tone was calm, but his eyes revealed a determination that could not be ignored.
Qin Cang was silent for a moment, then finally sighed. "Well, since you've made up your mind, let's follow your plan." He knew that Xiao Hu had already made his decision, and no amount of persuasion would avail.
"But remember, you must stay alert at all times and not take it lightly." Qin Cang reminded again in a serious tone.
Xiaohu nodded, his eyes full of gratitude. "Thank you, Captain. I will be careful."
Qin Cang and Xiao Hu stood at the edge of the dense forest, the darkness surrounding them like an endless abyss, suffocating them. A dampness hung in the air, and leaves rustled softly in the wind. They both paused, their heartbeats blending with the surrounding silence, their breathing audible. Xiao Hu's gaze was firm, his heart already prepared for anything, while Qin Cang knew that every step ahead could be a matter of life or death.
"Let's go." Qin Cang said in a low voice, his tone calm and resolute.
Xiaohu nodded and followed closely behind, lightly traversing the dense forest and advancing silently towards the enemy camp. The two of them practically blended into the night, their figures as light and silent as ghosts. Qin Cang took every step with extreme precision, knowing every inch of the forest. He was constantly analyzing the surroundings in his mind, ensuring that he and Xiaohu would not be detected by the enemy.
However, just as they were about to approach the outskirts of the enemy camp, the road ahead was suddenly blocked by a figure.
