Chapter 299 Dust-covered Memories
Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting soft patches of light on Su Wan's face. She sat on a park bench, clutching a photo tightly in her hand. It was a picture of her and Lin Hao as children. The two of them were smiling brightly in the photo, as if the whole world was filled with sunshine.
In the park, the laughter of children echoed one after another, but Su Wan seemed to be in another world. Her thoughts went back to the small town where she and Lin Hao grew up long ago.
As children, Su Wan and Lin Hao were neighbors, their families living very close together. They grew up together, inseparable. Su Wan remembers Lin Hao always protecting her, standing by her side no matter what hardship she faced. They went to school together, went home together, fished in the river together, and ran in the fields together. Those beautiful memories replayed in her mind like a movie.
"Wanwan, don't be afraid, I'm here." Lin Hao's voice seemed to still echo in her ears. It was the warmest voice in her memory.
Su Wan smiled faintly, tears streaming down her face. She knew Lin Hao's disappearance must be related to their past. She remembered that when they were children, they had discovered a secret together, a secret they had always kept.
"Hao, do you still remember that secret?" Su Wan murmured softly, her heart full of doubts.
She stood up, looked around, and thought silently in her heart. She knew that she had to find that secret, perhaps it was the key to finding Lin Hao.
Back in the office, Zhang Wanqing, Fu Siyuan, and Li Wei sat together, carefully studying the clues at hand. Zhang Wanqing told them what Su Wan had said, and the three of them looked at each other, knowing that Su Wan might know some key clues.
"Su Wan said that she and Lin Hao were childhood sweethearts. This may be an important clue." Fu Siyuan said softly.
Li Wei nodded slightly: "We have to start from their past and see if we can find some clues."
Zhang Wanqing stood up, walked to the computer, and began to search for Su Wan and Lin Hao's past. She found some photos of them as children, and a video in which Su Wan and Lin Hao played together and looked very happy.
"Wanqing, what did you find?" Fu Siyuan walked to her and looked at the screen.
Zhang Wanqing smiled slightly. "I found some photos and videos of them when they were little. It seems that they had a very good relationship when they were little."
Just then, Zhang Wanqing's cell phone rang. She picked up the call and heard Lin Wanqing's voice on the other end: "Ms. Zhang, I found something. Can you come over?"
"Of course, we'll be there right away." Zhang Wanqing hung up the phone and said to Fu Siyuan and Li Wei, "Lin Wanqing discovered something, we have to go and see."
The three of them quickly rushed to Lin Wanqing's residence, a luxurious apartment in the city center, exquisitely decorated and full of artistic atmosphere. Lin Wanqing stood at the door and saw the three people coming in. She smiled slightly and said, "You are here. I found this."
She handed Zhang Wanqing a letter. The envelope was a little yellow, and there were a few words written on it: "Letter to Wanwan".
Zhang Wanqing opened the envelope and took out the letter. The handwriting on the letter was a little blurry, but still recognizable:
"Wanwan, if you see this letter, it means I am no longer in this world. Hao, you must take good care of Wanwan and don't let her get hurt. You must keep this secret until one day the truth comes out."
Zhang Wanqing raised her head, a hint of doubt in her eyes: "What does this letter mean?"
Lin Wanqing smiled slightly: "This is what my mother-in-law left me. She said that this letter was written to Amelia Su when she was young, but she never sent it out."
Fu Siyuan took the letter and looked at it carefully: "When was this letter written?"
Lin Wanqing shook her head: "I don't know, but my mother-in-law said that this letter is related to Lin Hao's disappearance."
Li Wei nodded slightly: "We have to find Su Wan and see what she thinks of this letter."
The three of them quickly rushed to Su Wan's residence, which was an old suburban neighborhood with simple decoration and full of traces of time. Su Wan was slightly surprised when she saw the three people coming in: "You are here again?"
Zhang Wanqing walked forward with a smile: "Nurse Su Wan, we found a letter that may be related to Lin Hao's disappearance."
Su Wan took the letter, a flash of panic in her eyes, and then she smiled slightly: "This letter was left to me by my mother-in-law. She said that this letter is related to Lin Hao's disappearance."
Zhang Wanqing nodded slightly: "Nurse Su Wan, can you tell us what this letter means?"
Su Wan lowered her head, a hint of confusion in her eyes: "This letter was written to me by Lin Hao's mother when she was young. She said that this secret is only known to Lin Hao and me."
Fu Siyuan stepped forward and looked at Su Wan intently: "Nurse Su Wan, what is this secret?"
Su Wan smiled slightly: "This secret is a treasure we discovered when we were young. We once found a box in an abandoned factory, and there were some strange things in the box."
Li Wei nodded slightly: "Where is this box now?"
Su Wan raised her head, a look of determination in her eyes: "Lin Hao has been keeping this box. He said that this secret can only be revealed when the time is right."
Zhang Wanqing nodded gently: "Nurse Su Wan, can you take us to that abandoned factory? Maybe there are clues about Lin Hao there."
Su Wan smiled slightly: "I can take you there. But you must remember that this secret is only known to the four of us."
The abandoned factory sat on the edge of the city, surrounded by weeds and looking particularly desolate. Su Wan led Zhang Wanqing, Fu Siyuan, and Li Wei into the factory. Sunlight filtered through the dilapidated roof, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
"It's here." Su Wan pointed to a corner, her voice trembling slightly.
The three followed Su Wan to the corner and saw a shabby iron box. The box was covered with dust and looked like no one had touched it for a long time.
Zhang Wanqing walked forward and gently wiped the dust off the box, with a hint of anticipation in her eyes: "Is this the box you found when you were little?"
Su Wan nodded slightly: "Yes. Lin Hao has been keeping this box. He said that this secret can only be revealed when the time is right."
Fu Siyuan walked forward and gently opened the box. The contents of the box made the three of them gasp. Inside the box were some old documents and photos, as well as an ancient key.
"What is this?" Li Wei asked softly, with a hint of confusion in his eyes.
Su Wan smiled slightly: "These documents and photos were discovered when we were young. Lin Hao has been keeping this box. He said that this secret can only be revealed when the time is right."
